Nancy Pelosi is already saying that the $900B pork barrel spending bill currently being negotiated in the Senate (KEEP CALLING SPECTER, SNOWE, AND COLLINS) has had “too much” cut out of it to be worth passing any more.

Er, make that trying to say that there’s been too much cut out of it. The House’s Resident Diva followed up her claim that 500 million Americans (167% of the total US population) would lose their jobs every month that a pork barrel “stimulus” bill wasn’t passed by saying today that the version of the bill being negotiated in the Senate, “if passed, will do violence to the future.”

I think I speak for us all when I say, “HUH?”

According to Politico:

“Washington seems consumed in the process argument of bipartisanship, when the rest of the country says they need this bill,” the California Democrat said, seeming to sweep aside the Obama administration initial desire to have broad GOP support for the plan.

“We must have a bill [quickly],” she said, in a clear message to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who has spent the past two days wrangling with moderates who want to cut proposed education funding for the states by as much as $50 billion.

“These cuts are very damaging — [the House bill] was put together very carefully. …The funding goes directly to school districts, they are stimulative because they maintain jobs instead of cutting jobs.”

$800+ billion directly to school districts? Clearly President Obama’s directive that nobody read or discuss the “stimulus” bill, just pass it and move along, got through to “Speaker” Pelosi, as she seems to have missed a few little items like $1,000,000,000 for new Censuses, $400,000,000 for “habitat restoration and migration activities,” $150,000,000 for “bridge removal,” $800,000,000 more for Amtrak, and $200,000,000 for the “leaking underground storage tank trust fund”- not to mention contraceptive funding and honeybee insurance.

The Senate bill is already on the edge of passage/failure, with Republicans Specter, Snowe, and Collins considering capitulating, and Democrat Sen. Kennedy absent due to his health. Quite frankly, the more Pelosi opens her mouth, the farther this trillion dollar debt bill seems to get from passing, so I’m hoping she keeps talking as often as possible.
