Pelosi: Every Month “Stimulus” Isn’t Passed, 167% of American Population Will Lose Their Jobs”

No wonder she wants population control included in the “stimulus” plan so badly: more people means way more unemployment!

Consider: There are currently just over 305 million people in America. However, as Rep. Pelosi (D) warns us in the video below, “Every month that we do not have an economic recovery package, 500 million Americans lose their jobs.”

Wow. Now that’s some powerful stuff there. Who says Democrats from San Francisco aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer?

Then again, maybe this is an example of the same Obamathematics that turned 12 dead in Kansas tornadoes into “10,000 dead, an entire city destroyed.” The ratios sure seem to be fairly consistent…

During the 19 seconds it took her to say that

bk (Diary) Wednesday, February 4th at 11:52AM EST (link)

more than 300 Americans lost their jobs.

Well, according to her figure anyway.

Of course, not many people think much of her figure. ;-)

oops my math was off

She was talking per month; I did per year. So more than 3,600 poor souls lost their jobs during that 19 seconds.

…but he better lose a couple more jobs this month to keep Nancy’s numbers up.

We pick up one House seat every time she opens her mouth.

Not at all likable. Good PR strategy.

Apparently there are 2 Americas. In fact, there may be as many as 8 or 9.

Who knew?

I know where all those extra Americans live

Good thing those printing presses are cranked up at the Mint, huh?

I wonder if the newly printed bux have Pelosi’s face on them?

Second Time: She Said It Last Month, Too!

Ron Robinson (Diary) Wednesday, February 4th at 3:06PM EST (link)

Saying it once could be hyperbole or an honest mistake. Saying it twice is either intentional deception or a really crazy over-dependence on the briefing docs her staff furnishes her – and doesn’t say much about her staff either.

(just search the transcript for ’500′)

Chris Wallace actually corrects her on Jan 18th, but I guess Pelosi is really wedded to this number.

But I quickly figured out where she is going with this because I am a CEO and we can, if we choose, lie with figures better than anybody in Congress.

A month from now, we will have -195 million umemployed. As always, a negative figure is a plus for the opposing column – that means +195 million ‘NOT unemployed’ or gainfully employed. By the end of the year we could have over 1000% employment.

So we have yet another reason to ask why she is arguing for this measure.

Still wondering how I’ll make time for 9 other jobs… perhaps it’ll just be 9 more revenue-producing web sites (something I may have to do anyway to keep up)

The "stimulus bill"

Hoover Wednesday, February 4th at 5:16PM EST (link)

is suppose to create 3 or 4 million jobs. Those will be lost in less than a day though. Maybe we need a $130 trillion dollar stimulus, so we can break even for the month.

And her democratic colleagues voted her to that position. Says a lot for their judgment.

If the government tries to much "stimulus"

izoneguy (Diary) Wednesday, February 4th at 6:10PM EST (link)

The amount of jobs “created” could never match the amount of jobs lost. Business will lose it’s will to produce. Another tier of jobless people will be created. The permanent welfare class will only grow and become bolder in it’s demands.

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

exactly

Hoover Wednesday, February 4th at 7:47PM EST (link)

spending does not create jobs, look at how much spending has been done over the last two years and how was the growth rate? I think this would have been a mild recession but because of the government’s reaction (i.e. spending like crazy) they are causing people to panic and stop spending. They are making this MUCH worse. Stop spending and cut taxes a little and things will be just fine.

But we know they won’t do that. So fine, keep spending, everyone will blame the democrats and them and the one will be kicked to the curb. That might keep the monuments from being built.

We are all watching the very beginning of a train wreck. As we all said, the one is not up to the job. He’s wetting himself and it’s only two weeks in.

Stimulus Package will just delay what is inevitable.

Rod_Patrick (Diary) Wednesday, February 4th at 5:31PM EST (link)

Our creativity and individual productivity as a nation went to a downturn.

Even with the Stimulus Package, job losses will happen.

Because Modern Americans have become job hunters, too different from the Old Americans who have been more of entrepreneurs/value creators. We have become dependents of the ineffective institutions created by the Government, rather than self-sufficient and more creative especially in these hard times.

Not everyone

JustLeaveMeAlone (Diary) Wednesday, February 4th at 9:15PM EST (link)

Rod, it’s amazing what necessity will generate. Around these parts in 2001, not long after 9/11 and the concurrent economic woes, we had a little thing happen to the local economy called “Enron”.

One day, they were building a huge new skyscraper — the next day, the streets below it were full of dazed-looking people carrying cardboard boxes full of personal possessions, wondering what the heck just happened.

Directly behind them were the folks at Arthur Anderson — most of whom had nothing to do with Enron. Then the folks from financial institutions that dealt with Enron. The fallout continued, impacting the commercial real estate market of Houston — then housing — then banking. Local car sales dropped. Furniture sales too. Retail sales in general were hit as the ripples went through town.

I was part of the collateral damage, when my firm decided to close its Houston office two days after the Enron implosion. There were thousands of us out on the job market, and very few jobs to be had, unless you really want to bag groceries or sling french fries.

I made phone calls, networked, sent resumes, harassed head hunters, and went on interviews for months. Between Enron here in Houston, and Eliot Spitzer attacking equity research on Wall Street, I was SOL. There was nothing available anywhere in the USA at my pay level, or at even a 50% pay cut. Nothing.

Then, one day, it was time to quit doing the conventional thing and time to do what I had to, what I’d really done all my life: find something that needed doing and do it. I created my own job and my own company (with the help of my excellent, talented, and wise business partner), and once I committed to it, I never looked back. Whenever we’d find some related opportunity and someone asked “can you do that?”, we’d say “yes!” and find a way to add it! We’ve grown, added people, and created a whole market niche that no one in the USA was filling.

I am NOT unique. All over town, I was hearing similar stories: people who started providing a service, or offering a skill, and making things happen. The Internet is providing mega-opportunities to those who have some vision about secular trends — and you don’t have to be a techy; simply recognize that people have changed the way they shop, get information, and communicate. That will only increase over time.

Ten years ago, it would have been difficult and expensive for a company the size of mine to do business overseas. Twenty years ago, it would have been impossible. Today, just today, we did business in six foreign countries, and this wasn’t even a busy day. Every dime of business we do is new business — a net addition to GDP, not just taking market share that was there.

There are opportunities all around us. Entrepreneurs are everywhere, and once you look around for them, you’ll find an amazing number of people who are able to live quite well without the corporate job. Sometimes we are so focused on the whole corporate thing that we don’t see them. But when you get pushed out of the nest, you either fly or you go splat on the ground.

Wow, just wow.

Rod_Patrick (Diary) Friday, February 6th at 9:21AM EST (link)

Bro, yours is an amazing real-life story. For me, what’s so amazing is the indomitable spirit within yourself (I label it as TRUE AMERICAN spirit) that made you overcome the crisis caused by ENRON scandal/crisis.

It only proves my main point that “instead of crying out loud for Government’s help, each of today’s Americans must deal the current crisis on as a challenge to further develop our creativity.”

Your story is a concrete example of why America has become a mighty economic power in the past and why Americans overcame the Great Depression of the early 20th century. It’s simply not the Government; It’s really the might and determination of real Americans taking the responsibility of enriching themselves that made America great even today.

The message of Obama’s Stimulus Package plan is a total 180 of what you have experienced and what we really need to address the current financial crisis. The people must learn to take the challenge on their own and reinvent themselves. Obama’s trying to teach every American to rely on “spoon-feeding” from the Government.

In short, Government is not the answer. It’s the people’s concerted efforts to develop/market their creativity and profit from it that will address our current economic/financial woes.

I say a big No to Obama/Pelosi Stimulus Package.

since I live in California, the only politician who embarrasses me more than queen bee Pelosi is Babs Boxer and you know what? They will NEVER be voted out of office in this brain dead state. I can’t complain about idiots from other states, like Rangel or Frank because I think the morons from my state do more damage. Geez, you emailed numbers to call to tell our senators “no” on the stimulus and I had to scream in frustration, “it would do absolutely no good.” Both senators from CA probably nodded in serious agreement at the queen bee’s speech and with all those jobs being lost of course they’ll vote yes on the pork bill. just shoot me

Someday, perhaps...

May the both of them ride off into the sunset on the “little bus”–and as soon as possible.

No wonder these moonbat liberals don't pay taxes...

Elizabeth Christian (Diary) Thursday, February 5th at 12:07AM EST (link)

they can’t even do simple math. I always knew liberals deal with emotions and never deal with facts (unless their facts/#’s/etc… are made up and pulled out of the sky) but seriously – the Speaker of the House does not even know how many Americans there are??? Has anyone checked to see if Plastic Surgery Pelosi has payed her taxes – only if she did her own – now that would be interesting!!!

By the way - think about this - it has been over a month since...

Elizabeth Christian (Diary) Thursday, February 5th at 12:10AM EST (link)

they (liberals) have been whining about their porkulus bill – so using Pelosi math our unemployment rate is currently over 167% – we are all unemployed??? She is the biggest airhead ever to be let loose in public – and this crazy lady is the Speaker of the House!!! It is like a really bad sitcom – sometimes you laugh and sometimes you cry.
