The DCCC’s anti-Rush ad is a wonderfully laughable effort. What office is Mr. Limbaugh running for? Who is the Democrat opposing him?
For the last eight years, the Left’s efforts were almost uniformly focused on demonizing former President Bush; now, with him out of the picture, it appears that Mr. Limbaugh is next on the list to be targeted.
That’s fine; every dime and minute spent targeting Mr. Limbaugh is a dime and a minute spent neither opposing a Republican actually running for office, nor articulating a vision for actually leading America forward.
Democrats spent the last eight years opposing the administration and putting forth their best efforts to obstruct progress. Despite the fact that they now hold both the White House and commanding majorities in the House and Senate — and with those, the responsibility to actually produce solutions and sustainable policies that will benefit Americans as a whole — the Democrats seem unable to break out of their habit of behaving like a minority party, pointing fingers, assigning blame, and demanding bipartisan cover for policy proposals they claimed to strongly believe in (just not strongly enough to pass them without opposition support).

Positive Agenda...
liberalrepublican (Diary) Friday, January 30th at 3:34AM EST (link)The positive agenda is missing right now.
Conservative radio is all about throwing bombs at Obama, Pelosi and the Dems right now.
Makes for great radio, ratings and cash for the personalities and stations.
But not for the party in terms of winning elections.
“Broadly speaking, liberalism emphasizes individual rights and equality of opportunity. … including extensive freedom of thought and speech, limitations on the power of governments, the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market or mixed economy”
Then you don't listen to Rush much
Jack_Savage (Diary) Friday, January 30th at 9:53AM EST (link)He points out the flaws in the Democrat positions based on solid conservative principles. Principles win elections, and we have seen in high relief how moderates and squishes do not. The fact that you feel you can even put “liberal” and “republican” together proves that point.
Go to D.C,, stand in the middle of Pennsylvania Avenue, look at both ends, and see where “moderates” have gotten us.
He puts liberal and Republican together because
Brian Hibbert (Diary) Friday, January 30th at 10:12AM EST (link)he belives that the modern definition of liberal matches the definition in his signature. Despite ALL evidence to the contrary.
Modern liberals believe in tyrany rather than freedom. They believe in equlity of outcomes, not equality of oportuinity. They believe in the power of the government to decide what’s good rather than the good of letting people decide for themselves. Free markets are unthinkable for a modern liberal. As for the free exchange of ideals and free speech, just see the “fairness doctrine”.

Insecure people do not take a stand on principle. It requires security and integrity that Liberalism lacks.
They do not take blame because being wrong hurts insecure people mightily. They’ll take credit, even when there is nothing to take credit for, to make themselves feel secure, important and powerful.

I’ve listened to Rush daily since 1999, I can’t count the times I’ve heard people call in and tell Rush how they used to be Democrats but thanks to him, they’ve seen the light. I ought to know, I am one of them! I discovered Rush somewhat by accident. He was articulating what I was thinking and made it make sense. Not only that, I’ve learned a LOT about politics and civics.
There’s no doubt that there are others who benefit from Rush’s success. Conservatism is addictive and there are plenty of folks to fill in the gaps when Rush is not on the air.
The Democrats will try to silence Rush and all of talk radio with their clever “fairness doctrine” acts. The words has already gotten out and they realize that bringing back the “fairness doctrine” in it’s original form is probably not going to wash so, like the illegal alien amnesty, they’ll try to implement it piecemeal. When they DO try this, I can see it going to the Supreme Court. Rush will NOT go down without a fight and he’s got a lot of people behind him who believe in free speech.

Using Rush as the focal point of attack...
DONTREADONME (Diary) Friday, January 30th at 12:04AM EST (link)seems to be a perfect set up for a backfire. There are a few scenarios I believe will occur. One, Americans will see the focus on Rush as a waste of resources and frivolous and they would rather see their elected officials concentrate on Government matters. Two, a renewed interest is sparked in Rush Limbaugh’s program and his listenership. Three, the American people will become annoyed with the focus of attack on a private citizen who is a public figure. Four, Americans will agree with the Democrats and they will vote their GOP elected officials out of office.
I would venture to say it most likely with be a combination of the first three points along with some other angle that I did not include here and only a little of my fourth scenario will occur. The only people that are really going to care about what Rush says or does is the people who are already obsessed with demonizing this man as well as the GOP.

The NRSC/NRCC should have an ad answering the DCCC.
Martin Knight (Diary) Friday, January 30th at 9:45AM EST (link)I’m probably in the minority on this, but the GOP should fire back.
It has long been my firm belief that Republicans should never leave the field for Democrats to define the terms of the debate or allow them free rein to frame events in their favor.
It may seem like a waste of money on the Democrats’ part now, but make no mistake, this sort of thing is all-too-often a long-term psy-ops investment that can pay off massively further down in the cycle.
My recommendation is that NRSC/NRCC or some other organization immediately launch a counter-ad that makes prominent mention of the more objectionable (and porky) parts of the bill e.g. resodding the Mall, “Great Sex”, 2011 timetable, etc. and ending it with something like;
“Republicans in Congress proudly voted against it because it was a bad bill that wastes hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars and will end up hurting our economy for the foreseeable future. And we’ll be proud to vote against it again.”
I agree Martin....
Attack Mode (Diary) Friday, January 30th at 9:53AM EST (link)Too many time we just let the Dems go unchallenged in the media war….The NRCC/NRSC should respond in kind or else in a year it will be a KnowFact™ that the Republicans are nothing more than obstructionist, rather than principled leaders who simply disagree with how to bring our economy back.
And they need to do it now while we still have the numbers on these issues. The electorate is still uneasy on this “stimulus” we need to get our message out while the people are still accepting of it.

Positive Agenda? I guess that would be 'real change'
fisk2521 Friday, January 30th at 10:21AM EST (link)Where was the ‘positive agenda’ when the Republicans were the majority? Let’s be up front about this and stop blowing smoke’ Democrats never stop their pitbull attacks and mentality. Pelosi and Reid have ignored Republican input, while Obama makes a small trip to the Hill and claims he wants to listen. Meanwhile Pellosi and Reid are writing the bill, and ignoring ANY imput from the Republicans. I’ve seen the ‘listening’ agenda up close from the left and have finally figured out that the only purpose for it is to marginalize the opposition and make them think they’re having a say.
If Obama wants full support of not only the Republicans in Congress and but the millions who did not vote for him, he will have to prove that he actually does care about what they think. The fact that Rush Limbaugh may voice some of those opinions is just too bad…. So far, we still do have The First Amendment in the Bill of Rights.
The “Stimulus Bill” predictably has turned into an opportunity for the Democrats to shameslessly spend billions on their own social agenda, when what the country needs now is the exact opposite. When you have spent more money than you make, gone deep into debt to buy what you cannot afford and your house is falling down around you; you fix the house – - you don’t build a swimming pool and buy a new BMW.
Obama and the Congress should be telling people that they need to reconsider their credit card spending, buy homes they can afford and save their money. That’s not what is happening. Instead we have the largest spending bill and earmark in the history of this country and people lining up for their share.
I was hopeful that at least the upside of this crisis would be that we all finally wake up and realize that government control and their edicts that force local communities to spend was not the answer. But, no, school districts in places like New York State are salivating at the prospect of millions from the feds (blazing headlines last night in the local paper!). The school budgets continually rise, while the property owners are being forced out of their homes, even after their mortgages are paid. This new infusion of our own money tax money into the schools will only raise the bar – - resulting in more future costs to maintain whatever the school boards develop. Federal mandates are in large part to blame, along with the teacher union propaganda that students are now the responsibility of the school, not the parents. Taxpayers should pay closer attention to what is happening in the schools districts and how much money is redirected from actually teaching children the basics. In a city of less than 15,000 we actually have ‘paid greeters’ to ‘welcome the children to school’ each day….. PAID GREETERS. And that just the tip of the iceburg.
As far as the campaign against Rush, it has actually made me go to his website and become a member. Hope it bites them in the backside.

In case you haven’t noticed our President happens to be more popular than Rush Limbaugh ever was (and Reagan for that matter, who never came near Obama’s approval rating), so it is good strategy to show moderates the type of unintelligible partisan hackery that Obama is up against.
The American people will understand that bipartisanship is a two way street and certain factions on the right have developed an aversion to compromise. After getting their own way under GW for so long they think compromise (or concession) is only something that they force Democrats to do.
