Murtha: “WE NEED MONEY IMMEDIATELY!!”

Embattled Democrat porker (and current defendant in a pair of slander lawsuits stemming from his repeated shouting from rooftops that U.S. Marines are “cold-blooded killers”) John Murtha (PA-12) sent a message to MoveOn.org’s email list asking members to remember his “chip in” to his surprisingly difficult reelection bid.

Further, a Murtha fundraiser sent an urgent request this afternoon to “defense industry lobbyists” which read:

Cong. Murtha is in a brutal re-election campaign. The “Swift Boaters” have put up a candidate from Virginia and have raised millions of dollars against Cong. Murtha. In addition, other 527s and the NRCC have spent millions to smear Cong. Murtha on TV, radio, and in newspapers. We need to raise another $1 million to compete. If you have contributed, thank you. We are asking all to MAX their campaign contributions: $5,000 PACs and $2,300 individual. We need money immediately.

Now those are words I’ll wager the 17-term Democrat representative never expected to have said about one of his campaigns, especially five days out from an election — and its tone sounds pretty distantly removed from Murtha’s bravado-filled declaration of two days ago that there is “no gddmned way” a “Virginia carpetbagger” will “represent my district.”

In fact, the truest part of that message is the fact that Murtha is, in fact, being “swift boated” — in the actual meaning of the word, which is to report factually what the subject said and did, making his actual words and actions known to all.

There’s nothing at all underhanded about mentioning Murtha’s track record, which includes allowing his hatred of the military under the command of President Bush to so color his judgment that he used multiple national stages to go after a handful of young Marines, accusing them of murder when he had few facts and even less understanding of their situation, and publicly announcing a Democratic “slow bleed” strategy designed to slowly deprive our troops overseas of funding, weapons, and supplies until enough were dying due to lack of proper equipment that President Bush was forced to capitulate to al Qaeda and the rest of the terrorist militias in Iraq and withdraw from that country in shame and defeat.

There’s a lot more than that to use against him, as well. He can cry “Swift Boating!” and beg for monetary help all he wants, but the fact is, whatever poor electoral end Jack Murtha meets, he will have only Jack Murtha to blame for it.

I guess there’s a vested interest on the part of Democrats to have a long-serving incumbent around, as it means connections? Maybe? Does it help to have more senior members of Congress?

Think of a noose constructed of tightly intertwined strands of Unions/Democratic Party/Organized Crime.

The concoction holds a death grip on the lives of all citizens there – mainly by controlling whatever pork projects Murtha brought there(and there are dozens), and the minuscule number of low-paying jobs remaining in a formerly industrial district.

If ‘machine gun’ Murtha loses reelection we will all hear and feel the THUMP within a 250 mile radius.
