How about you tell us first?

the state of the Church than I am the state of the Union. Obama would not have been elected if it weren’t for the white evangelical vote and the Catholic vote. Simple fact.
Absolutely disgraceful.

No More Than I Was Before

There is the kingdom of heaven, ruled by God, and the earthly kingdoms ruled by Satan. Friendship with the world is enmity with God, and this nation is part of the world just like any other. This whole “Christianity = western culture = conservatism” is a sham. Christianity is an eastern religion that was born in the same part of the world as was Islam, and the early church was persecuted for over 200 years by the WESTERN Roman Empire, and before that it was the Jews who gave us Christianity being persecuted for hundreds of years by the WESTERN Greek Empire. And even when the west was “Christianized”, what did they do? Rampaging, raping, and pillaging looking for slaves and gold just like everybody else. That is why this “Judeo – Christian values” nonsense is just that. First of all, Judaism and Christianity are two separate religions with competing mutually exclusive claims. Second, though Jews can exist in western culture (and in any culture for that matter), traditional Jewish culture and western culture are completely incompatible. Third, Jesus Christ did not come to earth and go to the cross to give us a culture or a value system. He did so to save us from cultures and value systems, all of which will inherently be corrupt and governed by original sin.

I honestly think that the religious right has deceived a lot of evangelicals into thinking that America is somehow a reflection of the righteousness of Jesus Christ instead of merely being just another nation that will be judged on the last day. America is not new Israel or New Jerusalem, a special covenant nation before God. It is just another nation that Christians happen to live in just like every other nation on the planet save those few where the gospel has not yet penetrated. If evangelicals were to keep their religious aims limited to the church and vote based on qualifications and principles, the GOP would have never been stuck with people like Bush, DeLay, Gingrich etc. and we wouldn’t be stuck with this Obama mess. Martin Luther said that he would rather be ruled by a wise Muslim than a foolish Christian. That was not a throwaway comment, but rather an excellent summary of Romans 13. The Christians being duped by the religious right into voting for all of these corrupt and incompetent candidates based on who is most capable of wearing their religion on their sleeve (which by the way Obama did an excellent job of doing, and Clinton before him, and Carter before him!) really need to check their Bibles and vote for someone who will actually reduce spending, reduce taxes, limit government, govern effectively, and stay away from scandals.

I second that

and would like to in particular mention the disgraceful performance by the US Catholic Church. Last Sunday, a priest in my church went out of his way to disavow people of the notion that there is mortal sin involved in voting for a pro-abortion politician. He stated, in a remarkable piece of sophistry, that it is alright to vote for a pro-abortion politician as long as your intention, in voting for him, is not to advance that politician’s pro-abortion politics. Another priest equated the Iraq War and the death penalty with abortion and euthanansia. The voters’ guide that was passed out mentioned abortion as one of a long lists of important issues, including health care, and immigration. Pains were taken to disavow anyone of the notion that abortion is of overriding concern, and is instead only one of many issues, mostly socialist, that a good Catholic should be taking note of.

dark days ahead

As a Christian I believe that first of all, the blessings and favor this nation has enjoyed from God for the last 200+ years are now lifted. That the majority of Americans obviously don’t care one iota about moral character shows me how far we’ve fallen spiritually as a nation. God most likely is fed up.

I believe Israel is now on its own.

The so called Fairness Doctrine will silence conservative and Christian ideas/thought.

Obama will erase everything positive we’ve fought to do to protect the unborn over the last decades as he’s already said he would do.

As a Christian I believe dark days are ahead because of this and we may never recover. The Bible predicts that things are going to get worse and worse over time, so we shouldn’t be all that surprised.

I’m also concerned that my right to home school will be attacted and somebody like Bill Ayers will be put in charge of how my kids are educated.

I'm not concerned, just disappointed! My anchor still grips the solid rock! n/t

more than anything I’m sad. We were so close on the Judge issue; with one more election in a row we could have put more Conservatives on the lower courts and got the one or two more we needed on the high court.

For a Christian, the issue of Judgeships is the one political issue that has the greatest cultural impact.

But look what we did? Take CA, they defeated Gay Marriage, (great) but voted for a man more radical on abortion than Hillary. I have have pro-life friends who voted for Obama, but think Gay marriage is sick. So, same sex folks getting married, bad, killing the unborn, not so much! What?

Washinton approved Assisted Suicide; what are we doing to ourselves and the nation in the name of freedom.

I have a dear Christian friend, who happens to be black, and one of the one percent or so that didn’t vote for Obama. She told me the Church must be Salt and Light, and until we are, nothing will change! How can we expect our culture to be any different, when we aren’t any different than the culture!

Pam

Not surprised.

In my preparation for an anti-abortion sermon I gave a couple of years ago I was astonished to learn that well over half of all abortions are performed on women who describe themselves as either evangelical or Catholic. If it weren’t for the ‘Christians’ the abortion industry would not be a multi-billion dollar a year industry.

This is on the "church."

I haven’t seen the stats yet, but I believe that enough so called “christians” to include blacks, whites, and catholics, voted for BO to put him over the top.

EVEN THOUGH, he said the first thing he will do as POTUS is sign the Freedom of Choice Act — lifting all state restrictions on abortion, and freeing up federal taxpayer money to pay for them; EVEN THOUGH despite the fact that 1542 black babies are aborted every day, and by the time he leaves office in four years, over 2,200,000 black babies alone will be aborted. EVEN THOUGH, he professes to be “a christian,” he believes there are “many” ways to salvation; and EVEN THOUGH he can recite the muslim evening call to prayer flawlessly, and thinks it is one of the most beautiful sounds in the world.

This is ALL on the church. We are to draw the line clearly in the sand so people know what the choices are. Far too many pastors and priests REFUSE to do that. Thank God my pastor was NOT afraid to draw that line for us.

May God have Mercy on us, because judgement for this catastrophe WILL start at the House of God.
