Poll: Large Majority Supports President Trump's Travel Ban

The polling is bad for opponents of Donald Trump’s executive order. Even the polls that are unfavorable to the travel ban are not blowouts in a sense Trump, and his team has to go back to the drawing board, and now a new Morning Consult poll shows pretty broad support for Trump’s executive order.

From the Morning Consult website:

While a majority of voters back President Donald Trump’s temporary travel ban on refugees and citizens from seven predominantly Muslim countries, they’re souring on his performance in the wake of its implementation, according to a new poll.

Fifty-five percent of registered voters said they approve of the immigration order, while 38 percent disapprove, according to the national Morning Consult/POLITICO survey conducted Feb. 2 through Feb. 4. Thirty-five percent of voters strongly approve of the ban that was first implemented on Jan. 27.

So despite all of the airport protests, negative media coverage, and judicial rulings, the people are siding with the President.

In fact, all of the executive orders Trump signed enjoy a majority or plurality of support.

  • Holding back federal funds from sanctuary cities? In favor, 55% to 33%.
  • Freezing government regulations until the can be reviewed? In favor 54% to 33%
  • Asking government agencies to delay or ignore elements of Obamacare? In favor 49% to 41%

Polls can shift, but there clearly is a disconnect between the way the media is covering these issues from how people across the country feel about it. Protests at an airport make for great television, but it doesn’t necessarily convince people the policies are wrong.
