Open Letter to former President George W Bush….

or his Dad former President George H.W. Bush, this is a request to action because I cannot believe that either of you can continue to sit by and watch this Administration attack and demean your fellow Americans. I have lived for 44 years and never have I seen a President mock and demean and dismiss his fellow citizens like this President. I would say it is his age however he is older then me and I was brought up to show more respect to my fellow Americans (even those I disagree with). It would appear that the Administration with its Corrupt Media has been attacking its fellow citizen’s since last February and the attacks are getting more and more despicable. I do believe that you two gentlemen who have NEVER spoken out on another President’s behavior the way former Democrats do every time there is a Republican in office would have a voice that we do not. This is not about personal vendetta’s as the Democrat former Presidents have when they try to take down a Republican Presidency no, this sirs would be about the respect and dignity of We The People of these United States of America.

President George W. Bush for one was defended by citizens on the right side of the divide at the very top of our lungs against a coordinated attack from the exact same people who are attacking us now. I would request that as both a former President and an American citizen that you now defend US against the slanderous and hateful attacks. I truly believe that with almost half the Country now missing you that your words will have an impact on this unwarranted and despicable line of attack.

To both former Presidents, WE are not racists, bigots, homophobes or rubes, we are and will always be citizens of the United States of America. We love our Country and we are grateful and blessed to have been born here and given an opportunity to thrive here however when you have a President who is President of all the people attacking 1/2 those people then sir’s you have anarchy.

WE may or may not become a financially bankrupt nation but if these attacks on fellow Americans are allowed to continue unabated we will definitely have become a morally bankrupt nation. When a citizen wakes up to hear across all the news stations their elected representative saying you “should be thanking me” well that is abominable. I am sure you are both aware that the Government of the United States of America should be thanking its citizens for their hard work, their blood sweat and tears so that the government can spend it like drunken sailors. It is one thing to virulently disagree on policy but it another all together to dismiss, demean and belittle your fellow American citizens and it is time to TAKE A STAND WITH US!

Thank You in advance.

Excellent idea, Jaded, but I am concerned that they....

will stick too much to protocol and not criticize a sitting administration. It ought to be with horror that they see their fellow traditional Americans lied about, spat on, and constantly disparaged, 24/7. Complicit in this is the malignant media who support the Obama regime in their shots taken against the American people. The media gets in many of their own.

It would be nice, but I don’t see it happening and I think that speaks to some weaknesses both them had, despite their strengths.

Where are the leaders that love this country and the people, and will speak up for her, that is the question I have.

Neither Bush would defend themselves – nor would GHWB defend GWB – when they were in office. Why would they start now.

agreed, Bush wouldn't defend himself, the military or republicans

while a President at war. I liked how he fought the wars, but not how he refused to get his hands dirty defending against lies against him and the military and how he chummed up with dems too often.

Direct this request to Dick Cheney. He gets it. He knows the threat that the left poses to this country. The Bushes, in particular Bush 43, are the reason we’re in this mess. They are part of the Republican class that believes in collegiality, are are willing to put collegiality above all other concerns. How else to explain W’s fetal postion he assumed through 8 years of libel from the left? How else to explain his greater willingness to criticize his own supporters than his Democrat opponents? How else to explain his wife praising Michelle and Barak in public statements? How else to explain W’s calling on all Americans to give Barak “a chance” as Barak was contemplating political prosecutions against Bush administration officials for “torture”? W covets the approval of the left, and he was willing to sacrifice public policy and the success of his own initiatives in the foolish quest to achieve it. Don’t expect him to change now.

Well Joe Rove has been saying something...

JadedByPolitics (Diary) Saturday, April 17th at 9:50AM EST (link)

his voice is NOT big enough! The ONLY person at this time who could STOP this President from ATTACKING fellow Americans would be former President Bush (either one). If they truly are MORE then a politician they will come to the DEFENSE of their fellow Americans!

I hope they do, Jaded

Jaded- The man and his wife have no class

Scope (Diary) Saturday, April 17th at 8:53AM EST (link)

So many years ago I heard the expression- You can’t shine sh!t. That describes the Obamas.

I read an article a day or so ago that claimed Obama has an evil twin. When he mocks the Tea Party people, and, when he makes sarcastic remarks that when he signed the Obamacare bill, the sky was still blue, the birds were singing etc. his evil twin has taken over his body and mind. He can’t help himself. We need to hire the Vatican exorcist to cure him of his evils.

W will never come to the defense of the Americans when they are being mocked, ridiculed and trashed by the President of the US. When he was in office, the left was doing the same to him, and all of us, yet, not a word from him. He allowed the press to get away with anything they wanted to say or print. Now it is at fever pitch, and getting worse by the day.

Penguin- protocal in not attacking sitting presidents only applies to Republicans. Didn’t Carter and Clinton attack Bush while he was in office? Then Daddy Bush went golfing with Clinton.

Scope, that is what I am afraid of, our side has all the...

manners. The Left knows this (though they had to look up manners in the dictionary), and they use it as a weapon against us. We are too nice, too refined, too lay me down and step on me, but please be my friend….There ought to be a polite but very pointed way for our leaders – past and present – to say what needs to be said.

As long as our side worries about “image” with the media and keeps trying to get them to “like” us, it is a losing game. In fact, the opposite occurs, the media says nasty things anyway. So if we speak up, I believe two things will happen: 1) the malignant media will continue to denigrate, slander and say nasty things about us, (no change there) 2) but they will begin to “respect” us for being formidable foes, and that would force them to readjust their strategies and actually cause them to lose some of these battles.

The lack of respect from the media and the Left shows us that they consider us to be weaklings, and therefore they continue to act with impunity.

when the press couldn’t wait to find the inflammatory degrading stories on everyone and everything. They used to be equal opportunity slayers, just searching for the next juicy headline. Obama and his merry band of fellow travelers provides them with flame throwing stories every day. They twist the messages to make Obama look good. Then they twist the messages about Republicans to look bad.

The problem with both TV and the rags is that they are all owned by Progressives. I just read that a Saudi Prince bought a large share in Fox, or their parent company. The Republicans are in desperate need of someone wealthy willing to start a right wing version of the NYT or the WashPo. I highly doubt that the FCC would allow a strictly right wing version of MSNBC or ABC or NBC on TV. Surely there must be some people who could band together and broadcast the views from “the other side of the story.”

And as to the Republicans in Washington, it will take the new crop of conservatives, who will win big time in 2010 and thereafter, to start speaking out against the Progressives and defending our side. That is when we will start being shown respect. The current crop of Cornyn’s and Coburns and McConnell’s need to go sit in the corner and suck their thumbs.

That might be more palatable (pun intended) to the moderators.

Other than that, don’t be surprised if GHWB (or GWB, for that matter) does a PSA with Clinton to call for ‘civility.’ They all seem to be buddies once they leave office (except for Carter).

Once, former presidents did not attack their successors

renny (Diary) Saturday, April 17th at 9:55AM EST (link)

but both Carter and Clinton have failed in that tradition. Carter even undercut Clinton in the early 90s when own his own, Carter went off the N. Korea to “cut a deal” over nuclear development–the deal was that N. Korea would only make plutonium for “peacedul” uses and we would then supply them with food and other commodities to keep the failing regime afloat, and we’ve done that ever sinse–even with Bush II.

DEFENDING Americans against an onslaught of hate should be where the Bush’s come out of the weeds.

I think it's a totally different mindset.

mriggio (Diary) Saturday, April 17th at 10:39AM EST (link)

Democrat former Presidents make comments that advance the Left’s agenda. No need to specify about Carter, his tomfoolery is blatant. But look at Clinton’s recent comments regarding vocal public outrage: he clings to the rationale he advanced after the Oklahoma City terrorist bombing-it was Rush’s fault! And it’s going to happen again! Dang wingnuts!

The Bushes stick to their idea of tradition and public service. It would be improper to criticize the current member of the President’s Club, no matter the levels of arrogance displayed, etc. (Dana Carvey voice) Wouldn’t be right. Nossir. We served our time honorably, and that’s that, unless called upon to raise funds for a disaster or something.

As a general conservative principle, I laud tradition, but personally applaud Cheney’s (both of them) speaking out, custom & tradition be darned. I’ll be stunned to hear anything approaching ‘red meat’ from either Bush 41 or 43. Jaded, I’m with ya in spirit, but methinks it’s a bridge too far.

so much that I think, to him, it would be so against protocol to voice opposition to any successor who took a seat in that office. His wife, Laura, has so much dignity and character that the very idea of it sounds completely beneath her.

Having left office with such a “crisis” and with horrible approval ratings (not my sentiment at all) had to affect this man in ways that we could never understand. I do believe that when his book is revealed we will be seeing and hearing alot from The Big W, The timing isn’t right for him to stir the pot. I am sure he is wishing (like myself) that men like Paul Ryan, Canter, etc, would do just what you suggest. The impact on the future of our country from men such as these would be greater than hearing words from Bush Sr and Bush Jr. at this time.

I had the exact same thought

redneck_hippie (Diary) Saturday, April 17th at 12:44PM EST (link)

a day or two ago. The need for a person in authority to put into perspective the Left attacking us is very real. What I thought then was that in then end, it will be up to us to carry on this fight as we have been doing, and to continue to make our voice louder and clearer. Maybe I’m a wimp but I think it is better for the Bushes to stay retired from this, our counter-revolution against institutionalized corruption and tyrrany. If the Bushes spoke out it would be a gesture for good, but we would be the only ones who appreciated or heeded it.

Tea Parties is that they are not voices for either party, but, rather, made of voices from both parties and from independents. To have George W. Bush stand up and say the same things that we are saying would definitely put a Republican face on it, and one that many Republicans themselves disagreed with when he was in office.

As Moe has said, and others have echoed, WE ARE THE CAVALRY. It’s not up to leaders to speak for us, but for us to become leaders who speak for ourselves.

When people would complain about Fred Thompson’s campaign, I used to say, We are the campaign.

The length of time between now and November is both a curse and a blessing. The factor to keep in mind is that we have truth on our side. The uncomfortable truth is that the people are going to be hit hard with economic reality. Right now it’s only someone that they know who is suffering. Soon it will be brought home to many, many others. Today I heard a prediction that from 5 million foreclosures over the past two years, we are now expected to undergo another 3 million foreclosures over the next year. Another blurb gave totally different unemployment figures for the southern part of the US, from the northern part. One can only wonder what our society will look like in the future…

Activists Taking Action: Unified Patriots

Not sure that is a picture that any of us could stomach, redneck.

janis (Diary) Saturday, April 17th at 1:38PM EST (link)

As with you, I see many, many more foreclosures, as well as small businesses giving up from coast to coast. The unemployment picture is going to be grim for a long time to come.

nor would he do anything to defend his supporters while he was in office. He will not come forth now to defend a grassroots movement he could never understand.

I don't want a former president to speak for me

klondike Saturday, April 17th at 2:06PM EST (link)

I wish to speak for myself, and it is incumbent upon me to do so.

It is also incumbent upon me to filter news reports, candidacy platforms, even pre-conceived ideas. That is my responsibility as an American. Today, if I want to hear from a politician, I will listen to those who are making decisions that affect this country – not just my state, this country. I will then act accordingly, depending on whether their decisions are good for the country.

I am very cognizant of the fact that everything is local. I got it, and I am acting on it. But once a president has served and has passed the baton on to the next president, I see no problem with his leaving it up to the people to determine the next outcome. That is, after all, our responsibility – not a former president’s.

It is our time to find our own voices, and we are blessed to have people like EE and some people on Fox who are not afraid to say what needs to be said. If they fail us, we still have our own voices.

Personally, I do not want to hear from GWB for at least a decade. I deeply respect the man and his wife, but now is not the time to hear from him. Let Bill Clinton continue to torpedo his wife’s future. He is like so many progressives who have no confidence in their legacy because they know they left nothing to be admired.

Oh please if "you" were listened to I wouldn't have put up the request...

JadedByPolitics (Diary) Saturday, April 17th at 6:37PM EST (link)

Rove, Morris, O’Reilly etc have all condemned this assault on We The People and their voices are NOT big enough. It must come from the former President to have an IMPACT!

WE are having OUR voices heard daily and of course being IGNORED daily, it will take someone who has been in the position and recognizes that Obama and Clinton are ATTACKING their fellow citizens to forward and agenda not for their love of this Country. It MUST be the man who sat in that seat for 8 years and NEVER attacked those who disagreed with him EVER! (they so deserved to be mocked but they were not). There has to be a VOICE SO BIG that it cannot be ignored by the Corrupt Media!

Marc A. Thiessen on p. 51 of "Courting Disaster:"

daveinboca Wednesday, April 21st at 5:59PM EST (link)

Thiessen had been tasked with writing GWB’s speech explaining Guantanamo and the fact that the US had operated “a model prison that would put to shame most prisons in the countries that routinely criticized Guantanamo. We had done a terrible time defending [the prison guards and wardens at Guantanamo]—INDEED, IF THERE WAS A CARDINAL SIN OF THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION, IT WAS A FAILURE TO EXPLAIN AND DEFEND OUR ACTIONS AGAINST THE CRITICISMS OF A HOSTILE PRESS.” [Emphasis mine]

For whatever reasons, GWB preferred to suffer the slings and arrows of the ridiculous barrage of frequently inaccurate and always hostile press attacks without murmuring a reply. This gave the inaccurate impression that somehow the allegations were either true or had substance enough to prevent GWB or Ari Fleischer or Tony Snow or his female successor to even Tony’s female successor to attempt to counter the accusations. The hopeless Scott McClellan is as bad or worse than the hopeless “Baghdad Bob” Gibbs.

I will not soon forgive or forget the sin of omission committed by GWB in allowing the hostile media to become completely corrupted by the Democrats. Not that the state-controlled leftist-by-reflex MSM would not have done the complete conversion to Demo-rat lapdog without the non-pressure by GWB, but a vacuum invites an invasion of bad air.
