I have said in comments many times that I have not seen race relations this bad in decades. I am fully aware of the pride and happiness at having Obama elected President however it has shown an uglier side to Black America. I would say perhaps there has always been reverse racism and when you set up a system in this country to reward based on color or sex you will get the natural human reaction of “I DESERVE this”. I imagine a lot of white Americans were proud to vote for Obama, liberals because he is their God and other’s who thought it was a great time in America and agreed with at least ½ of what he was selling. Those people thought it was right because they no longer saw race in this country as a problem, they were wrong. Obama’s Presidency has created racial divisions where none were prior. There is an interesting blowback to his Presidency on this as more and more American’s wake up to the fact that they are “racists”. They were not racists last year; they were hard working Americans going about their lives never giving race a second thought. This year if they don’t like something this President wants to do they are racists. If they call his policies Socialistic they are calling him the N word We know only rappers use the N word so we will change it up to tag you a racist
This has reached such levels of arrogance as to have Black Americans think that Atlanta BELONGS to them It belongs to us I want them to know Atlanta BELONGS to no one race or sex it belongs to the people. America has witnessed a Black Police Officer in Reston, VA tell a white protester that his sign which was anti-Obama is not American and he can FIND a reason to arrest him if he continues to use it You did it to us decades ago now it’s our turn. I can only extrapolate from all that I have seen since Obama overtook Hillary last year that there must be an endgame. I will note that the Black Man has NOT been kept down in the past 5 decades that Blacks have enjoyed unparalleled growth and success. It is not without struggle that they got there but they have. It is a misnomer that Black America cannot have the same successes as Whites, they are as likely to be rich and have an upper middle class existence as everybody else in America. I am not quite sure where they think this HATE is going to take them. I personally do not accept the victim mentality anymore. I believe it doesn’t work for most Americans. I think that Americans as a whole REJECT this racist mentality from Black Americans. What I do believe it will end up doing is ensuring that Blacks start to get rejected. The old days of crying racism at every juncture, only inflames Americans who don’t have a racist bone in their body and will end up creating hate where none existed before.
I was so angry at the Atlanta item this morning I chatted with my husband and I joked I didn’t have a Mammy but surely our kids did I remember distinctly they used to cry out Mammy, Mammy, oh yeah that’s right it was MOMMY! There is no doubt at one time in this country that Blacks were abused and treated as non-human but that time is long past. These old school race-baiters who keep the inner city locked down where maybe 1 child in 10 escapes to a better life are the only plantation owners left in this country. The Democrat Party has grasped hold of Black Americans and yet they do nothing for them but expect their vote every year. I would hope that the day they stop voting in bloc for them is the day those in the inner cities see their circumstances change. The truth about America is anyone at anytime can be anything they want to be regardless of color or sex because America is where the streets are paved with GOLD. If this HATE does not abate soon this President does not get control of this racist agenda of his it will not be a good ending. He and his minions have done more to sow racial discord in this country then have been done in 40 years. I ask them to wake up and STOP and enjoy the success that any Black person can have. There does NOT need to be social redistribution of people’s hard work. There does NOT have to be a taking from other’s to give to whom you think is underserved. The reality is NO ONE is underserved who truly wants to get up and go to work each and every day.
I ask what is the endgame because I am not sure where they think this is going. They are still only 12 percent of the population that does not a majority make. Perhaps Atlanta will belong to them and perhaps their arrogance will ensure DEFEAT for their candidate. So instead of looking at the candidates for their policies the conditions have been created for them to be looked at by the color of their skin. I will repeat again that they are only 12 percent of the population. If the race hating continues at some point Black America will find itself on the losing end of the race game. I hope they recognize that it doesn’t sting anymore when White America is called racist because that has been done to death. We laugh now instead of turn red with embarrassment. The cry wolf is overdone and it doesn’t work in 21st century America. I suggest either participate in one America or be left behind.

Given that the press, dems and libs have treated blacks like children for 40 years with much of the moderate and conservatives playing an enabling role thru silence, even the election of a black man won’t immediately stop the entitled menatality to stop completely, especially given the rhetoric and policies of this adminstration,
but
Obama’s election has caused much of moderate and liberal and conservative white america to end their own white guilt and they will be silent no longer.
Witness Obama’s back down from Gates-gate and that gates has brought no lawsuit and is not being celebrated as a victim.
Race relations are quite good as they have been improving for 50 years and at least for the last 25 have been no serious impediment to black progress.
There is a bad relationship between this President and his lib firiends with much of America, black and white and his policies are ginning up some race baiting, but this is a death rattle.

penguin2 (Diary) Saturday, August 29th at 11:37AM EST (link)I am so glad you wrote this. IMO, the race card and the accompanying victimhood has practically destroyed the ability of the majority of African-Americans to ever get beyond the lower tier they perceive they occupy in our society. The Democratic party has been fully complicit in this. Not because they really care if blacks or any other minority move on and achieve, it is a major tool they have been able to use successfully, to achieve and stay in power. The power they want is to control all of the people, using the minorities to get to the majority.
The election of Obama has been seen as a green light to get out there and be in our faces. Statements like it’s a “black world now” from Cleveland, or a “Black Senate seat” from Illinois, only are part of this racism that the Dems have perpetuated.
Which brings me back to the concept of Racism. I strongly believe as you do, that all the Affirmative Action, promotion of Black causes with those titles Black History Month-Feb), etc. has only made racism an issue that could have subsided and died out long ago. But the Democrats cannot let it die, and the Blacks can’t see the harm.

I'm not really worried about some sort of "popular" uprising
Achance (Diary) Saturday, August 29th at 12:18PM EST (link)or some spontaneous act that leads to civil disorder. My worry is that the Administration will orchestrate something that looks like a popular uprising or act of domestic terrorism as an excuse to exercise extraordinary powers; they’re just itching for it because all this resistance by the heathen masses is really starting to frustrate them.
The only exception is if they lose their grip on the economy so that they can’t keep pouring federal money into the Blue cities. If Massa don’t buy new shoes when they’re wanted, then we’ll see what bottom rail on top looks like and it will get ugly when the city dwellers turn to the suburbs where there are lots of white people with guns.
In Vino Veritas
Team Obama would be the second concern on my list for this.
The_Gadfly (Diary) Tuesday, September 1st at 3:10PM EST (link)My first concern actually is the spontaneous act. We’ve seen a number of stories in the past couple of years where a “racist” act was perpetrated and it turns out the perp was the person reporting the crime. With The Big 0 and his buddies stoking the charges of racism, classism, just generally building hate, and perhaps most importantly dehumanizing Republicans, I can envision somebody we’ve never heard of shooting the duke so to speak. Team Obama then comes in behind and does their thing, because we all know Rahm won’t ever let a crisis go to waste. In most ways, I can more easily see them planning to do it that way.
Of course, either way it won't be pretty. (nt)
The_Gadfly (Diary) Tuesday, September 1st at 3:10PM EST (link)I'm less concerned about Obama, Art
civil truth (Diary) Saturday, August 29th at 12:32PM EST (link)…and far more concerned about the Democrat who will succeed him, whether in 2012 or 2016 (or even earlier if we get a real coup under your martial law scenario).
Obama is rapidly showing that he is too weak of a person, too vacillating, and too inarticulate to hold the reins of dictatorial power. However, we know that he has a scary mob of experienced leftist revolutionaries whom his has put into government outside of Congressional review and is taking his instructions from professionals.
Thus, unless we can take back our nation before then, Obama in due time will be thrown under the bus by the real revolutionaries – though as noted above, it’s not clear when.

I don't think they've thought it out that far; they're still surprised
Achance (Diary) Saturday, August 29th at 1:22PM EST (link)that they’ve pulled it off and nobody has been shot yet. Sure enough, the happy, peaceful, mostly docile American res publica is still sitting around thinking that our long-held democratic traditions will self-correct any excesses so nobody is throwing bombs – yet.
I think there are lots of potential power struggle inside the ruling junta and that Republicans should be working to exploit them. The first and I think most profitable one is, who will be Comrade Obama’s Beria, Rahmbo or Eric Holder? A side theme to that is the struggle between Holder and Panetta and therefore the ongoing struggle between Comrade Obama and his handlers and the Clinton Machine. To make the irony more interesting, the Clintons are much the Stalinist bureaucratic sort of totalitarian while Comrade Obama is steeped in the Trotskyite tradition as one of Alinsky’s proteges. Interestingly, neither Trotsky nor Alinsky ever developed a way that they would govern under communism, Trotsky just didn’t like the way Stalin did it. I think Alinsky never even conceived of actually governing, he just wanted to raise Hell with whoever was governing, sort of Abbie Hoffman without the acid.
I still think the key to the revolution is card check. It doesn’t have the powerful emotional appeals that healthcare does and I actually think they made a mistake by taking on healthcare first; if they’d gotten card check, they could just as well have called off the next election and said they’re in charge for good Chavez style. Now they’ve shown that there are chinks in the armor and business, eager to kowtow to them heretofore, may be somewhat more willing to challenge them on card check. That said, the Democrats have to realize that it is the key; if they get it, they don’t have to worry about effective opposition ever again unless and until somebody wants to start a real live shooting revolution.

ColdWarrior (Diary) Saturday, August 29th at 2:56PM EST (link)The frustrating part of all of this to me is that I am constantly bombarded by e-mails from family members and acquaintances about how bad things are getting, but if you turn around and ask them what they are going to do about it, well, then they just don’t know whether it’s gotten bad enough. I think they expect that the American electorate will begin to correct everything in the 2010 elections. Most of them couldn’t name their county board supervisors or their state legislators, and my guess is they probably couldn’t even name their congressman.
Example. A neighbor includes me on an e-mail yesterday alerting his friends and family to the Drudge-reported story about the pending legislation to give Teleprompter Boy emergency powers to take over the internet.
My response: Gee, there’s two openings in our precinct for precinct committeeman; yes, things are getting kind of scary; hey, how about you and your wife filling up the two openings?
Response? A bunch of excuses. He’ll think about it.
Most thing “someone else will fix things, it can’t get THAT bad, it can’t happen here.”
Someone else might not, it can, and it can and probably will.
I am still trying to find video from McCain’s town hall on Tuesday, August 25 in Sun City where a distraught woman pleaded and begged him to tell her what the people could “do” to stop the slide into socialism. Did he he tell her step-by-step how to become a precinct committeeman. Nope. Why not? Because he DOES NOT WANT CONSERVATIVES TO BECOME PCs. Instead, he basically told the audience to “keep doing what you’re doing.” Why doesn’t he want conservatives to become PCs? Because it would change the cast of the Party and diminish the reelection prospects of the Party moderates and result in a change in the leadership of the Party.
A few months ago, in front of the Phoenix Republican Jewish Coalition (might have that name wrong), John Shadegg was asked by an audience member, “Should we join the Republican Party as PCs?” His response: “No!” Why? Because he knew most in the audience were conservatives. I reported on this back in April in the thread of comments to Martin Knights post about Ken Blackwell’s project to rebuild the Party from the precinct level on up:

americanmale Saturday, August 29th at 12:33PM EST (link)of the civil rights pendulum swing. The black american community is simply in the midst of a role changeover. No longer are they the “opressed”. That is no longer a valid rallying cry. The civil rights battle has been won. The black american is equal to all. What is happening though is that the black american community is trying to find a new purpose…and the answer is…. that there is none. Bravo I say. Martin Luther King can state proudly, “Mission Accomplished”. Any race issues that do pop up are simply an aberration and are not the norm.

Whatever their end-game, I don’t believe they’ll achieve it because they have invested in the wrong side. They are as far removed from the civil rights movement as they can get.
Like you, I would like to know what their goal is but honestly I don’t think they know. Alinsky doesn’t leave room for having real concrete goals, does he? Chaos and anarchy are the end-game even if the people acheiving it don’t know it.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,348649,00.html
Blacks do, indeed, have much higher rates of abortions than whites or other minority groups. In 2000, while blacks made up 17 percent of live births, they made up more than twice that share of abortions (36 percent). If those aborted children had been born, the number of blacks born would have been slightly over 50 percent greater than it was.
The comparison with whites and other minorities is striking. Whites made up 78 percent of live births, but only 57 percent of abortions. Non-black minorities had 7 percent of live births and 5 percent of abortions. If the aborted children had been born for either group, the percentage increase in the number of children born to these groups would have been less than that for blacks: 16 and 32 percent, respectively.
Data from 1973 on indicate that black women’s share of abortions has consistently been at least twice their share of live births.

They had begun ignoring MLK well b4 his death.
Achance (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 9:50AM EST (link)The “civil rights movement” had taken a hard left turn well before MLK was assassinated. Younger and much more radical leaders were beginning to supplant the King followers, e.g., Stokely Carmichael, Eldridge Cleaver, Elijah Mohammed, Malcolm X. Younger Blacks were beginning to look at King and the older leaders who had a religious bent and who eschewed violence as pretty much old fuddy-duddies.
I view MLK as more the guilty white person’s civil rights leader. That said, King himself was hardly a moderate. Like Obama, he had a very moderate public persona but his own politics pretty well coincided with the politics of the Left as it was in the mid-’60s. There was persistent talk of communist influence in the civil rights movement, certainly the FBI suspected it, and the USSR exploited US civil rights issues in its Worldwide propaganda. It would be more newsworthy that the KGB failed to try to influence civil rights groups and even to provide clandestine support. US treatment of its citizens of color was a major theme of Soviet and Soviet sphere propaganda. The US contributed to its problems in this area by backing various anti-colonial movements, almost all of which came under communist influence or control as soon as the colonial ties were shed – usually accompanied by dramatic bloodshed and atrocities.
In any event, the beatification of King is much more a white than black phenomenon and likewise the remaining King disciples such as Jackson got and kept their political power because of their acceptance by liberal whites and their ability to shake down white polticians and businesses and “bring home the bacon” to the Black community.

The key is the cross pressures of blacks in government.
archer52 Saturday, August 29th at 10:04PM EST (link)As I understand it, as a percentage of the population, blacks hold government jobs and contracts(i.e. tax payer funded) in a higher proportion than other groups. Generations of affirmative action, quotas (soft and hard) and programs have raised the opportunities for blacks in government. I’d be willing to bet in certain setting, such as Detroit and Atlanta, there is a sizable disparity in percentages of employed to the comparative percentages of the population in the nation.
This creates cross pressures inside the black community. No longer is it a clear issue blacks “getting theirs” from the whites, as people like Jeremiah Wright, Jackson and others have preached for years. Instead, you have a growing segment of the black community who are now middle, upper middle and upper class. They make money, have wealth, hold property, and increasingly, whether openly or in secret, are becoming more conservative. They are realizing that the mantra of the progressive black agenda of “getting theirs” really means getting them.
I have had conversations with more than one educated, financially well off black person who said rather harshly, “Oh heck no! They aren’t getting anywhere near what is mine. I worked for every dime of it.” To a man (or woman) they have little use for those on welfare who do not try to better themselves. ( They do not suffer from white guilt, as do a number of liberals in our country.)
So the pressure is building inside their culture. I think in a generation or two, the activist black speaker who claims that “blacks are being held back” will find himself speaking to a smaller and smaller crowd, of which will consist of those trapped inside the democratically controlled concrete plantations called the “inner city.” The rest of the black community will have shown they are as equal as any that live in the country.
I also think that even as they collect their pay from their government job some must wonder how much of their soul they have to give back in exchange. For now they are beholden to something else for their survival. They have a vested interest in keeping in power those who employ them, even as they realize those same people are stripping them, more and more, of their wealth.
It must be maddening.

bk (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 10:44AM EST (link)Q: What is the endgame?
A: 400 years of payback, or so it seems.
I hope black America wakes up. The Democrats aim is to have mostly white folks in power. Has anyone noticed that unless Cheryle Jackson takes Kirk’s seat, which at this early stage appears unlikely, then there will be no blacks in the Senate unless a new one wins a seat next year?
While the white Democrats want to keep most of the power, they want the average poor black to feel like these white Dems are their only hope getting ahead, when in reality those white Dems want to keep poor blacks as a dependent class and therefore reliable voters. It’s disgusting.
The Meaning of "Minority"
rjhfl Sunday, August 30th at 12:11PM EST (link)In the real world of words have meaning, “minority” basically means “smaller part”… In this case, about 13% give or take. Contrary to what some in our dumbed down society believe, it does not mean automatic set asides, affirmative action, special status, or the right to continually whine and demand. The American people are growing very tired of what has been going on in this country for the past 30 something years, and will not stand for it much longer. Hopefully the “race war” scenario will never come about, but, although it would not be pretty, it does not take a mathematical genius to figure out the result. (And I do not believe anywhere near the full 13% would be involved…even thought 95% of blacks voted for BHO). There is no doubt in my mind that Obama will prove to be the demise of the liberal Democrats, and to be the worst thing to happen to black Americans in the last 50 years. In reality, Obama has proven himself to be a liar, and not very bright in general (let’s see those academic records). He is obviously the sock puppet front for a group that does not have the best interests of this country at heart.
I agree that this Presidency is the deathknell....

I don't even know where to begin.
navychick1993 Sunday, August 30th at 12:53PM EST (link)I guess I will just say this…my maternal great-grandparents were born to freed slaves. They themselves were sharecroppers, who eventually came to own a farm with 40 acres (they did buy it outright, no mule though). That land is still owned by my mother’s side of the family. I have always been taught that through hard work and determination, anything was possible. I have followed that advice since I was a little girl and give much credit to my ancestors for setting the example for my family.
Flash forward to the 1960s and even later…Martin Luther King Jr’s legacy was high-jacked by those that sought fame and fortune. The entitlement attitude and victim mentality has greatly ruined Black America. President Obama came along and stoked the fears of racism to rise to power in America. What has all this gotten Blacks? By all accounts, those that maintain the “woe is me” mentality have not progressed anymore than before. Please believe me when I say that not all Blacks are like this said group. But unfortunately, when you have 90% of the Black community in this group, the rest of us get lumped in.
I am proud to be an American and proud to have served in the United States Navy. I love my country and fellow Americans. I will admit that I am greatly disappointed in Blacks that have fallen hook, line and sinker for President Obama and the Democrat Party’s lies. It is going to take some time to undue years of lying and pimping of Blacks. You have to remember, this stuff is fed to each generation, not just from family members, but from the educational system as well as the government. And honestly, I know Blacks are smarter than this…the majority would rather take the easy route and play victim.
I don’t know anymore. I look at what Blacks were able to accomplish when they were denied their Civil Rights and now that we have them…seems like we are back on the damn plantation. I’m sorry if this seems a bit all over the place; ths topic is a sensitive one for me.
By the way, excellent diary Jaded.

JadedByPolitics (Diary) Sunday, August 30th at 4:40PM EST (link)I certainly know that it is not every Black person and I dislike using broad terms but we agree that at 90 percent we get a majority group. I love your story because it reminds me of Justice Thomas’s story and he is my favorite Justice. We all know it is the mentality built in from 40+ yrs of liberalism that has led to the culture of dependence and it will take another 2 generations to break it. I would also say that a majority of likeminded Americans felt the plantation effect of having someone else pay your way through life worked in 2008. It is all of those people we are going to have to break of that dependency.
I pity all of those who expect the government to pay their way through life because they will have a Katrina moment and it will be those who live self reliant who will live through it.

Your last paragraph, sadly, sums up the Democrat’s plan for you, and eventually for the rest of us. Thank you for your service.
Well said. Blacks in America are going through an identity crisis.
archer52 Tuesday, September 1st at 1:57PM EST (link)Your comments are correct and well stated.
The way I see it, there are two black Americas. One is trapped in the very well designed and maintained concrete plantations. Suffering less than a good life, on the dole, and beholden to those who pay them for their votes. The second black America is the growing middle class. While many are government employees, they are still working and earning money. Many are living at least a middle or upper middle class life, which means they have extra money to do extra things.
Here’s the rub for them. As much as they want to identify with the first group, they can’t. Other than race, they have little in common. Worse when the first group demands they “get theirs” the second group is now realizing the “theirs” is well, THEIRS!! They have assets, wealth, savings, homes. They pay higher and higher taxes when those -getting theirs- pay none. It would be like coming home and finding your brother stealing your TV. When you confront him, he says, “I deserve it because you have it and I don’t!” Even Whoopie said something to the effect of “can’t you leave me alone” when talking about raising taxes.
I can only imagine how they feel when they see an educated black man make it into the White House promising to rise above race politics, only to find he is intent on getting even, just like all of those before him.
It must be maddening.
DON'T NO MUCH ABOUT HISTORY
benrush (Diary) Saturday, September 12th at 7:18AM EST (link)Let’s take a look at the beloved Martin Luther King. A civil rights leader who had direct ties with the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) and an adulterer who sired at least one illegitimate child. Records show ministry money used to buy the silence of the mom. Stanley Levinson, his most trusted advisor from 1956 to 1968 was a top CPUSA member with direct ties to Moscow. Because MLK used Communist direction and guidance, the FBI, at the Kennedy’s (John and Robert) request, had him wire tapped. Another key CPUSA operative, Hunter Pitts Odell, was installed on the board of the Southern Leadership Council. A Communist funded and run antiwar front operation. King lied when he promised Robert Kennedy to his face he would sever his communist ties. The money and “support” must have been more valuable than loyalty to his country or even God. With the Red atheist ties, let’s add murder, theft, covetousness, placing party ahead of God and not honoring the Sabbath to lying and adultery. Cleary, “Reverend ” was a title only. Well, thank God for grace.
