if you’re not a radical. Right now conservatives/Republicans are a long way from radical, don’t have any trained radical leadership, and really don’t have much to focus on that they could be radical about.

What RFR is good for is so that we and our leadership cohorts can read the play from the other side and mount an effective defense. Usually, the most effective defense is to step aside and let their play spend its energy on a pillow. Most of what Alinsky and his ilk are about is provocation; they want people like us, who are usually in power in the world they see, to do something stupid. It is remarkably effective in politics; they just do inciting stuff and political managers or cops over-react stupidly and give them poster children. The key is to not react at all, why give them what they want? Then, trying to get a reaction, they do ever crazier things, alienating people as they go, until finally they give you the opportunity to smash them.

It takes really well trained and disciplined people to play this game, though.

NEW YORK – The Fox network is sticking with its regular schedule over President Barack Obama this week.

The network is turning down the president’s request to show his prime-time news conference on Wednesday. The news conference marks Obama’s 100th day in office. Instead of the president, Fox viewers will see an episode of the Tim Roth drama “Lie to Me.”

It’s the first time a broadcast network has refused Obama’s request. This will be the third prime-time news conference in Obama’s presidency. ABC, CBS and NBC are airing it.
