That OUR tax dollars were used to create the DHS Report on “rightwing extremism” is the ultimate in WASTE. I have been angry over many things our government has done but I have to say this tops them all. I am against illegal’s getting AMNESTY, I am against ABORTION and I believe that local and state governments should have MORE power than the Federal Government! Those 3 items make me an AMERICAN not a RIGHTWING EXTREMIST! As of the writing of this report 47% almost 58 million AMERICANS who voted AGAINST The One are RIGHTWING EXTREMISTS!
Both of my Senators are Democrats here in VA but that does not matter because they work for ALL Virginians whether they be Republicans, Democrats, Independents or Ron Paul voters and ALL OF US are Americans. That I did not have faith that The One would work to keep our right to FREE SPEECH and our right TO BEAR ARMS has been proven TRUE! What that indicates is that I am smarter than the those who voted away those rights in November. WE MUST TAKE A STAND ON THIS! I beg all of you to slam those Congressional phones tomorrow and to have a copy of the most heinous of charges in that DHS Report. Get your Representative on the record as to where they stand on this TAKING of our First Amendment Rights.
This action by DHS with my own tax dollars which not only offends me but offends our MILITARY is beyond the pale and MUST be addressed.

ColdWarrior (Diary) Wednesday, April 15th at 12:01AM EST (link)I spoke to John Shadegg today for over a half hour about a variety of issues: his comments to the Republican Jewish Coalition last night that was reported at gopusa.com in the AZ news section wherein it was reported he bad-mouthed other Republicans and actually told these Republicans to NOT get involved in the Maricopa County and AZ GOP organizations (which he later apologized for), the lack of leadership in the Senate, the abandonment of Party Platform by Republican officeholders, the schism in the AZ GOP over the amnesty-for-illegals issue and the failure of the Party to recognize that conservatives are fed up with the party and many have left and Party leadership doesn’t seem to care. He was polite, thoughtful, LISTENED and thanked me for my time. And he asked for my help on a couple of issues. Bottom line, it is possible to get through to these folks, especially when their back in their district/state. Also happy to report that John McCain took questions from the audience tonight at his appearance in his voting district, LD 11, and although most of the questions were softballs (I got there late so I didn’t hear them all), the questions did not appear to have been screened by anyone. It was clear (at least to me) from the answer to one question on the immigration issue that he will support amnesty for illegals in order to court the “Hispanic vote.” I hope I’m proved wrong.

McCaskill’s office, (D)-MO. They transferred me to another person saying I had reached Sen. McCaskill’s office. and they transferred me to a voice mail for Sen. Bayh. I left a message of disapproval about the DHS report.
I called Rep. Carson (D)-IN-7 and the person on the other end said they did not know anything about the DHS issuing a report, and they transferred me to the aide who did work on homeland security. This time a voice mail of somebody with a Muslim name asked me to leave a message. I left a message of disapproval about the DHS report.
I called Sen. Lugar (R)-IN, and the person on the other end told me that Sen. Lugar has not issued an official statement. This person was very polite and professional, unlike my previous calls, and asked me to say what I wanted the Senator to know, and he will be told verbatim the information.
I just wish all my Congresscritters™ were Rs.

Calls to congresscritters re dumb DHS "rightwing extremists" report
ColdWarrior (Diary) Wednesday, April 15th at 1:07PM EST (link)I called the DC offices of my three congresscritters, Rep. Harry Mitchell and Sens. Kyl and McCain. I made the following three requests (and, believe it or not, the Harry Mitchell staffer had not even heard of the DHS “Rightwing Extremist” document or controvery!):
1. I want to know whether the congresscritter will call for Janet Napolitano’s resignation.
2. I want the congresscritter’s office to contact the DHS, through telephone numbers and email addresses at the end of the document, and find out how much tax money was spent on this document that could have been written in an afternoon by a third-grader, who authored it, and who authorized its production.
3. I want an answer to these questions by the end of the day.
Of course, I know full well that all three are here in AZ on recess (I was at John McCain’s appearance last night at his legislative district). As to McCain’s and Kyl’s staffers, I reiterated my comments, sent to them by fax in the past, that the these two “leaders” in the Republican Party have no strategy to stop Obama’s and the Dems’ headlong rush to move this country to socialism. I also made the point that if GWBush’s Dir. of Homeland Security had directed the publishing of this ridiculous document, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank, et al. would have produced a coordinated attack against Bush and his Director for weeks calling for the Director’s resignation and the answers to all of the above questions through congressional hearings. (I also made the same points to Rep. John Shadegg last night by e-mail.)
I won’t hold my breath that anyone will call me back or that the Republican “leaders” will DO anything.
