I am a Soldiers Angel and the United States Military is cause #1 for me. These men and women with courage and grace beyond the average person are heroes. They volunteer to stand ready to protect our way of life on a daily basis. We thank them when we see them and our hearts pound when we see them march in formation because we are true Americans. They ask so little of us and we expect so much of them and yet once a year we have the opportunity to say thank you to the most wounded of them. We of course send letters and help the Angels get those gifts to them at Christmas but this cause is so much more than those because Project Valour IT helps the MOST wounded of our heroes.
This is what it’s all about….
Project Valour-IT, in memory of SFC William V. Ziegenfuss (Captain Chuck Ziegenfuss’ father), provides voice-controlled software and laptop computers to wounded Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand and arm injuries or amputations at major military medical centers. Operating laptops by speaking into a microphone, our wounded heroes are able to send and receive messages from friends and loved ones, surf the ‘Net, and communicate with buddies still in the field without having to press a key or move a mouse.
I myself found Soldiers Angels 3 years ago and I have donated to this cause each year and I want you my friends that I have made here to consider perhaps just $10.00 or $20.00 to each one of the services. They allow you and me the ability to get up and work and blog and generally have a great life because they ensure our families safety EVERY DAY!

God Bless America

Here's another site I've used for years
bk (Diary) Tuesday, November 18th at 10:38AM EST (link)You can do any of several things here:
o Search for soldiers (or sailors or …) and send a card or letter directly to one of them who will pass it along to one of his/her fellow troops who doesn’t get much mail.
o Search for soldiers and send them a care package of whatever you wish. In the case of packages they probably just add the goodies to some common area instead of giving to a single person.
o Donate to the site itself or choose various other choices.
What I like about anysoldier is that you can track down a soldier based on where they are based or what they are looking for and decide exactly what you want to send them – no middle man is involved. That takes a lot more time, but it’s more rewarding in that it’s much more personal. For example, if you have some extra beanie babies or soccer/sports gear you can part with, you could find a place to put it to good use if you don’t mind dropping a few bucks on postage. It’s also cool for things like class or scout projects where each kid will send a card or a group of kids will sign several cards.
I would rec this if I could
