Pitchforks, tar buckets and feather pillows are inexpensive and easily accessible. I have seen a few Tea Partiers using pitchforks as the "handles" for their signs. And, I believe the BEST way to send a signal to the congresscritters is to sign up to become a Republican Party precinct committeeman. HALF of these critical positions were unfilled on Election Day 2008. If one is going to bother "tea partying," one should also "party" where it really matters -- INDOORS, at a local GOP meeting, where you can sign up to become a conservative Republican Party precinct committeeman so you can vote for the leadership of the Party and vote to endorse the BEST conservatives in the Republican primaries.
