I’m in the age group of this generation and I have to put up with a lot of these idiots all day long. Everyone is so impatient. They’re already upset that change hasn’t come quick enough. They just want hocus-pocus-instant socoialism.

The good news is that there are many more young conservatives out there then the media will want you to believe. Don’t get me wrong though -we’re still greatly outnumbered, but not inexistant.

When the whiners are through pitching their fit, we just put them in ‘time out’, eh?

Ok. Well I see this same approach on the other side of the debate. I don’t find it useful. Here we’ll switch some words around, please note that I don’t agree with the following any more than I agree with the original (ie: not at all):

“Conservatives are like teenagers whose will-to-be-gratified was never subdued, and now cannot grasp the simple logic of what is being said to them,” Bradley writes. “They are so emotionally obsessed with getting what their hearts want that they are unwilling to listen to reason. That is why conservatives resort to personal attacks, name-calling, accusing, yelling, discrediting, or changing the subject. And that is why they use inflammatory and emotionally charged words like ‘naive,’ ‘hateful’ and ‘childish.’ Desperation ensues when passion rules. When passion rules, blindness sets in.”

I mean, basically it’s a fill-in-the-blanks, mad libs approach to politics. There aren’t specifics in this passage. And surely the author nevertheless DOES have specific grievances against the left! But this is just demonization, right? You may think it’s true, beyond doubt even, but understand the other side thinks the same thing is “obviously” true about you.

But there is absolutely no room in either passage for actuality, pragmatism, or progress. No room for anything but continuing to play political mad libs for the remainder of your life as an interested citizen.

And that’s not useful for anyone.

I hope my point was as politically neutral as intended.

Ed Kaitz over at The American Thinker has a slightly different take along these lines.

In his book The Suicide of Reason Lee Harris argues that our present state of liberal democracy has led to “eliminating the alpha males from our midst, and at a dizzyingly accelerating rate.” Instead of supporting and valuing testosterone’s virtues we’re “drugging our alpha boys with Ritalin.” In addition, one could view Barack Obama’s election as the triumph of yin over yang. Obama’s policies promise to cast the father out of America’s parks and replace him with the more “caring” and yin oriented federal government. For Lee Harris however the feminization of American men comes at an extremely high price:

“The end of testosterone in the West alone will not culminate in the end of history, but it may well culminate in the end of the West.”

The goal of the left is to erase a culture capable of self governance and replace it with a culture of weak, dependent and malleable subjects.

We must win this fight against the perpetual adolescence/emascualtion being promulgated by the left or as Lee Harris argues “it may well culminate in the end of the West.”

“Psychologically I should say that a person becomes an adult at the point when he produces more than he consumes or earns more than he spends. This may be at the age of eighteen, twenty-five, or thirty-five. Some people remain unproductive and dependent children forever and therefore intellectually and emotionally immature.”
