Barack Obama lays plans to deaden expectation after election victory

Obama's soaring rhetoric and promises of “hope” and “change” are now confronted with the reality of a stricken economy. Why vote for him?

Promoted from diaries. – Moe Lane

So this is reported from the Times UK:

“Barack Obama’s senior advisers have drawn up plans to lower expectations
for his presidency if he wins next week’s election, amid concerns that many
of his euphoric supporters are harbouring unrealistic hopes of what he can achieve.

The sudden financial crisis and the prospect of a deep and painful recession
have increased the urgency inside the Obama team to bring people down to
earth, after a campaign in which his soaring rhetoric and promises
of “hope” and “change” are now confronted with the reality of a stricken economy.”….

Barack Obama lays plans to deaden expectation after election victory

Well, well, well…it is interesting that we find this out BEFORE Nov. 4th.

I have always said that Obama has oversold himself.

There is no way he could accomplish what he wants even if our
economy was booming. Obama has no understanding of economics.
No understanding of how business works. You cannot tax your way out
of a hole.

About 70 million people work for small businesses. These people make
up one-third of the entire population of U.S. voters. Those are numbers
that can wield incredible influence in any election. Imagine what can
happen if somehow small businesses and their employees could unite
around a few key reforms. In fact, regardless of polls, any candidate
that can make his case in support of small businesses could walk
away with the presidency on November 4.

Imagine what might happen if somehow small businesses and
their employees could unite around a few key reforms. Specifically,
the next president should work to eliminate the alternative minimum tax,
lower corporate tax rates from 35% to 25% and eliminate the capital
gains tax entirely. Those are the types of policy changes that small
business owners and employees will embrace.

To borrow a few lines: “You may think I’m dreaming, but I’m not the
only one. I hope some day you’ll join us” — in support of America’s job-
creating engine, the women and men in small businesses.

‘Imagine’ … small business united

The only way back is to vote McCain/Palin.

trick or treat!

Obama is giving us a real glimpse into the future here.

This should be a good campaign ad for McCain. Obama is already scared he promised too much and is revealing the man behind the curtain.

They should do a wizard of oz commercial with Obama behind the curtain while playing his grandiose promises and then playing his remarks now about cutting expectations.

Trick or treat!

What we will heat is that it is the fault of the Bad Bush Administration

We will hear that they are failing to make progress because the Bush administration got us so far into the hole that it will take at least “X” years to get us out. We will hear it as often as the left has accused the President of using “9-11″ as an excuse for everything.

Pres. O’: My fellow Americans, I regret to announce that we will not be having that tax break I promised you because bush admin… We will be taking your children to the state sponsored thought training camps because bush admin, etc.

Obama will be a 2-yr wonder

Guerc Friday, October 31st at 10:51AM EST (link)

I’m still hopeful that McCain can win… but I’m also acknowledging the likelihood of an Obama presidency.

Obama’s going to be a 2-yr wonder. He & the libs will overreach and incur the fury of voters. He’s going to have to raise taxes and fees anywhere he can. That will infuriate the middle class who thought he was a moderate.

Moreover, he’s going to disappoint the legions of lefties, who are expecting a move to all-out liberalism. You will see a revolt from the far left, led by a Nader/Sheehan/DKos wing.

Finally the MSM will be entirely discredited after the sales job they pulled this election. Don’t expect them to be able to carry his water.

In 2010 Congressional election, we’re going to have another Republican Revolution just like 1994. Obama will be as irrelevant as Clinton was in 1994-1996. Followed by a reinvigorated Republican field in 2012. Go Palin, Romney, Jindal, etc.

Bill Clinton promised tax cuts too..

PatrickMurdock (Diary) Friday, October 31st at 11:27AM EST (link)

Bill Clinton promised tax cuts too. However, when he got into office he claimed that the financial books were worse than he thought, and, so, he’d have to raise taxes. And, I believe, for good measure, he made some increases retroactive to a year or years before he was elected.

Should B.O. be elected, I would be very surprised if he didn’t do just the same thing. And as for all the “free” things he promised (which his supporters believe they have a right too), well, he’ll let them know that they just can’t be done or at least won’t be “free” because there’s no money in the till. GWB’s fault, of course.

Already making excuses

ILLINOIS_CONSERV (Diary) Friday, October 31st at 12:08PM EST (link)

This guy hasn’t won a THING yet he is planning his excuses already? I think the McCain camp needs to hit this hard!
