“Senator” Caroline Kennedy is just the beginning

If you think Caroline is doing this just to be a Senator you better think again.  Barak Obama owes the Kennedys big time.  She is going to get appointed because of her connections, background, and Obama.  If you thing Patterson has problems now, what do you think will happen if he passes on Kennedy.  My own opinion is that she has looked at what Obama and Hillary Clinton have done and has come to the conclusion that she can do the same.  And every democrat in New York and across the country know it.  I think she wants to suceed Obama.  If you think the 2000 election between Bush and Gore and 2008 democratic election between Clinton and Obama were great, then wait until 2016 when you may have the Hillary, Caroline and Sarah.

And I’m guessing Palin gets primaried out.

Honestly, as someone who lived in RI for a while and had this idiot as their DC representative the best thing about Chafee losing in 2004 was that both Senators are now Dems and both pretty young so it might prevent him from being a Senator too.

can always move. After all, it’s what dems do. Maybe he can just kinda move Chuck-U Schumer to the sidelines and get appointed to serve out his term. Or primary him. Not likely, but it is the Kennedy family, after all. And what could be more rapturous than a return to Camelot, Part Deux?

“Hell, these are Marines. Men like them held Guadalcanal, and took Iwo Jima, Baghdad ain’t s–t”. Maj. Gen. John F. Kelly, USMC, Deputy CG, First MEF

Ah, but, Wayne, there will be no return to Camelot.

We have the internet now and nothing is sacred anymore. We get to hear about their every little wart and wrinkle now–whether we have the stomach for it or not. Those days are over and long gone for good.

There never WAS a Camelot,

either the Arthurian version or the Kennedy version. Had he not been shot, Kennedy would have gone down as at best a mediocre President and instead of LBJ and the Great Society, VietNam, and National Maiaise, a very different Richard Nixon might well have defeated him in ’64. I love alternative history; write that story on out for a few decades.

So there's your second book, Art--what might have been

if JFK hadn’t been assassinated. What a profound game changer that would have been!

Amen. Amazing how many people don't realize this.

“To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.” Thomas Jefferson

I can think of one huge plus right off the bat--no John Kerry on the national stage.

And maybe no Ted Kennedy either.

While those two examples are somewhat humorous–in a bitter, gun-clingy sort of way–it’s really astounding to consider just what a couple of bullets accomplished that day. How many lives have been changed due to the death of just one man.

I'm gonna' work on my Alaska cops, crooks, and politics

thing for now. It’s got it all; drugs, sex, tawdry politics, corruption. Funny part is that I wrote the guts of it for a work exercise a few years ago and a lot of it is smply prescient. It was roughly based on a real case we had where a State Trooper was charged with four rapes in a Bush village. It was my nightmare at the time because I would have had to do the arbitration of his dismissal; it would have consumed my life for months! Fortunately, he saw the wisdom of pleading guilty and resigning.

Anyway, we were doing a training exercise and I based the scenario on what it would have been like to actually sustain his dismissal. It is all totally in shades of gray; there are NO good guys, everybody has skeletons in their closet – just like real life. Nobody makes the perfect decision. There are no heroes. But there are fundmentally good and bad people, just like the real world, so your job was to be figureing out who were the good guys. It was kinda fun to do and I just put it in one of my “I love me” boxes. When Gov. Palin came to prominence and the whole “troopergate” thing emerged, I said, “there’s a novel in there.”

Then I'll place my order for a copy of it if you'll dedicate it to

You're on!

The biggest problem I’ve had with it so far is trying to convince my wife that it really isn’t autobiographical. Everything in it is just something I heard or read about! And that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.

One question, Art. Given that Alaska is the small

town atmosphere that you’ve described, if your book gets published will you be able to continue living there comfortably?

I ask because friends of mine who’ve heard me tell stories about the area where I live have urged me, in between hoots of laughter and stares of disbelief, to right my own book about it. My response was that I’d have to write it under a pseudonym or move far, far away.

Yeah, I'd be ok. Everybody who wants to kill me

has already tried and given up. The unions kinda’ got me once. They put a price on my head with the Knowles Administration. The Knowles people couldn’t fire me, but I got tired of no windows, my seat flushing, and my phone never ringing, so I quit and went to work for the Republican controlled Legislature, with the Administration’s misery as my mission. After three years of that tender mercy, Knowles hired me back to the Executive Branch for some pretty good money. Then Murkowski appointed me to be in charge of everything that was important to the unions, so they had to make nice. So, despite their best efforts I left on the day of my choosing and for reasons of my choosing.

Now the most anybody can do is deride me as a has-been. Well, Hell, at least I once was. And when those unions get in trouble with the Administration, Who they gonna’ call? And I’ll gladly take their money.

Then you're in a good position to do as you choose obviously.

Upon further thought on my situation, I’d probably be okay as well. Most of the folks I’d write about either can’t read or reserve their literary endeavors to the words on their latest welfare check or arrest report.
