Firedoglake: Gets it straight on KILL THE BILL

Trying to post a simple link to a firedoglake http://seminal.firedoglake.com/diary/20817 video . Software in Redstate keeps killing IE8 in Windows7 … if this works it will be a Christmas miracle. Seems to be rooted in the link button of the wysiwyg editor. Good link! And here’s the video:

Enjoy the madness of the left.

What to make of this???

After all, this pressure from the left changed the votes of precisely ZERO Senators.

Of course, we conservatives are terrified of Big Govt. Any human institution will act in its own interest to maximize itself. Even if it wraps itself in happy talk.

That applies to Big Business as well. I’m a capitalist/competionist. In a free market, there are two sides to every transaction. Of course, the individual corporations may very well be schmucks, but nothing keeps them in check like taking my business elsewhere. On the other hand, Big Business may love it when Big Government decrees rules that limit competition or increases demand for their product by govt fiat. I strongly disagree with the left that this is good for Big Business in the long run, as I fully expect Big Government to continue to throw good money after bad to “improve” this framework. Heck, I’ve seen such a dynamic internally in corporations, where “the sacred cow” and its fiefdoms drive obviously inefficient processes to protect internal turf. If the internal competition can be crushed by hierarchy/bureaucracy, it is. That is, unless heroics are successful at defeating the paradigm and changing the game.

And as to the behavior of lobbyists, we conservatives will ask what in the heck did the Left expect? When asked why he robbed banks, Willie Sutton responded “Because that’s where the money was!” When you increase the size of funds directed by govt fiat, it is a certainty that the efforts of the lobbists seeking to siphon off their share will increase. In fact, this right to petition is protected in the First Amendment to the Constitution. There is no solution to this other than the defacto solution of making the payoff smaller by making the funds in play smaller.

I'm fairly sure that it was making a difference on the Progressives votes

it just seems that they forgot that Dingy Harry made sure that they voted yes. The hard left should have remember the progressive senators to not except the bribes. That’s where they failed.

Joe Biden is like a Decrepit Park owner with a Meth lab that happens to not only be a dealer but a user.

Let’s Bankrupt the Democratic paty. Make spend all the money to defend thier candidates.

Politicians love using the left to get votes

izoneguy (Diary) Friday, December 25th at 2:56PM EST (link)

but will dump them in a heartbeat. They have no clout. Big Business owns the democratic party. As we are seeing it is the democrats who are really buddy, buddy with Big Business & their lobbyists….

The real hard left can screech all it wants. They got duped and now expect Obama to do something for them. Good luck with that. Unless you can wheel in billions of dollars then forget it.

The conservative Republicans are really the party of the middle class now.

The point cannot be made often enough: Modern liberalism, as embodied in the Obama presidency, is the defender of the status quo. And the status quo is a road to economic ruin. Political forces cannot redistribute the wealth that the economic system does not produce.

I don't care why firedoglakes Hamsher is wanting to KILL THE BILL however....

There is a kernel of something in there that WORKS for US to FIGHT with next year and that is the ADDITIONAL 30 million people the Insurance Companies will get to add to their rolls with a LARGE MAJORITY of those being young adults (DO NOT EVER CALL THEM CHILDREN…EVER).

The D’s for whatever reason have ALWAYS been able to paint Republicans as the party of big business and YET here for ALL to see is the D party enlarging the coffers of a select FEW insurers for their bill because the reality is that the LAWS that only allow 5 insurers in the state of CA and all the other states are still in place and so you MUST buy from SPECIFIC companies. The other part of this is the big PHARMA PAYOFF with no re importation of cheaper drugs.

I LOVE big business because WE are a top down society where by those with money HIRE and PAY others and those big businesses with their HUGE salaries get those rich people to BUYING STUFF creating more and more jobs. The bottom line is that D’s have SCREWED the middle class of America and REWARDED big business and in so doing have WRITTEN the commercials for us!

It is no doubt a tawdry way to FIGHT next year but it is a way to WIN! I am pretty DISGUSTED with the tools at the top of big business right now anyway as it appears they gave MUCH more in donations to D’s in 06 and 08 and I know they give to who they think will be the winner but the reality is that the Democrats are the party of BIG BUSINESS now and in 2010 :)

A new strategy for 2010 and beyond?

JBP,

Perhaps this should be a new enmasse netroots line of attack against the Liberals and Dem Party? Labeling it outright the “Party of Big Business”, “The Party of K-Street”, etc. Force them to defend their positions with a few rapid fire lines such as yours to buttress the arguement.

It is high time for the Democrats Party to be put on the defensive. It has enjoyed over 40 years of being portrayed as the party of the little guy, when it’s always been the party of elites (vs. “establishment” types in the GOP) and “race hustling poverty pimps” (I’ll never forget that line JC Watts, awesomeness). Keep saying it over and over, refining it from 2010 through 2012.

I do disagree with the re-importation of drugs until mechanisms can be in place for safety and for keeping the forward progress of drug development on the march. It is outrageous that Americans by and by are the ones subsidizing pharmaceuticals for the rest of the world by paying part price for the drugs themselves and part for research.

(Then again the same insanity applied to Copenhagen where the U.S. was going to pay billions to China for carbon exchanges by borrowing from China… lunacy).

Absolutely a new and TRUE strategy.....

WE cannot allow them to paint us anymore as “big business” when it is so apparent from what they have done with healthcare that they ARE that RICH and OUT OF TOUCH party :)

OBTW I disagree with the reimportation of drugs as well but I will use it to SMACK the crap out of the LEFTISTS in power!
