On Perissodactyls

Since talking about 2012 is good enough for Governor Romney, I will take a moment to comment on it. I agree with Governor Romney that we conservative activists should not run third party candidates in 2012. Does he agree that the Republican Party should not pre-ordain or annoint our nominee before the primaries are over?

In 2008, we campaigned for consistent conservatives like Governor Huckabee* and Senator Thompson.** When Senator McCain became the nominee, we bit the bullet and pulled the lever for the moderate. If the RINOcrat party apparatus guides yet another endangered species from the Perissodactyla order*** to victory, then Romney is really asking a lot. It is asking even more for us to vote for him. And it is almost certainly asking too much of us to work for his victory.

Governor Romney**** says the result of a third party challenge would be "divide and fail." So would nominating a Perissodactyl.

Huckabee ≠ Consistent Conservative

Regardless of what he or his PAC says.

I KNEW IT!

I knew the first comment my post would get would be a Huckabee hater.

You weren’t long on the details yourself. :)

Make your case, and you’ll have your specifics.

Well, let's see...

I was short of specifics because most members of this site are already aware of what I am talking about.

Well, there’s his record on taxes, immigration and those problems that have popped up with pardons, all of which occurred as Arkansas governor. That’s just off the top of my head.

He talks a nice talk, when he’s not calling the Club for Growth the “Club for Greed”, but his record as governor should tell all.

So no, Huckabee ≠ Consistent Conservative.

Question

houstoneagle (Diary) Wednesday, March 10th at 2:25PM EST (link)

So if Huckabee is nominated, will you form a third party? Will you vote for him? Will you work to see him succeed?

It’s OK if you don’t know yet, I’m just asking respectfully, of both of you fine folks. However, if you say that the person who finished with the second highest number of delegates last election does not have a chance to be nominated, I simply won’t believe it.

Thank you and have a nice day.

that you won’t be voting for a scandal-tainted, rancid-meat cooked goose for President if the Republicans nominate him to go up against Obama in 2012? I mean, tell us how you really feel. *eye roll*

Let me get this right...

houstoneagle (Diary) Wednesday, March 10th at 5:32PM EST (link)

…According to you, Mike Huckabee is scandal-tainted, is rancid-meat, and is a cooked goose. Furthermore, you say that I have poor taste, blinding loyalty, and that I dropped my balls. You wrap up this stunning display of argumentative acumen honing on the issue at hand, which is that you have in your possession the Super Secret Crystal Ball of 2012 presidential politics, which is so infallible as to assure you absolute knowledge that the person who finished second in last year’s primary has zero chance of being the Republican nominee next time around, which allows you to claim that you are a good conservative Republican footsoldier who will vote R in the general without actually answering my legitimate questions.

I wasn’t even arguing with you, just asking questions which I see you didn’t answer because if you did I can only assume you would be admitting the unadmittable: sitting out in November 2012 if Huckabee is the nominee. I would love you to clarify that my assumption is wrong; I am often wrong and would love to be so in this case.

Listen pal,

Veronica (Diary) Wednesday, March 10th at 7:24PM EST (link)

I might as well have a crystal ball telling fortunes for you to rebut when you won’t even bother responding to Rinker’s detailed response here:

http://www.redstate.com/e_pluribus_unum/2010/03/10/palin-should-not-run-in-2012/#comment-4978

“[Huckabee] finished second in delegates only because he refused to quit…staying much longer than Romney. He is a tax-and-spender. He destroyed the Republican Party in Arkansas, and even campaigned for Democrats running for the legislature against some Republicans. He has slammed CPAC and the Club for Growth. I agree with him 110% on social issues, but he is an economic liberal.”

Let’s face it. You’re blind to Huckabee who will fail to get the nomination and I am blind to Republican faith that we will transform the party when you work from within.

You’re in a worse “position” than I am. Worser when you flirt with voting 3rd party,

Aside from stats, no one likes the guy.

Huck sucks.

The criminals he sent packing KILLED COPS, get it??

So, why don’t you take out your crystal ball and start hunting for another non-prof job outside of Huck’s PAC.

Sooner or later, he will wake up & give up on the whole idea of running for President .. when reality hits or he makes his next million hocking his next book. At that point, you will cease being useful to him. Posting on conservative sites won’t cut it after awhile.

It’s a business for him. You are an employee.

Or just a blind voter who’s wasting his time backing the wrong candidate when you should be backing stellar politicians, not this schmuck.

Adios.

that you will be voting Republican in the general election even if a scandal-tainted, rancid-meat cooked goose who no one likes and who sucks wins the nomination. It’s good to know that your level of dissatisfaction wouldn’t be enough to cause you to “flirt” with voting 3rd party. We’re on the same page!

Fellow Houstonian here..

kyle8 (Diary) Wednesday, March 10th at 5:51PM EST (link)

And I cannot imagine how anyone who is a real conservative could not be a Huck hater. That guy is just as smarmy and unreal to me as Jimmy Swaggart, or Robert Tilton,

Can’t trust him, can’t stand him. Can’t understand why you don’t see the obvious falseness. He is more false than any used car salesman or liberal politician.

So should I mark you down...

houstoneagle (Diary) Thursday, March 11th at 4:24AM EST (link)

…as committing to vote conservative in the primary and Republican in the general if Huckabee is the nominee? Or would you prefer to go Third Party in that event? Or maybe even *shudder* vote for Obama? I’m just wondering where your logic takes you, it’s a sincere question.

I just want it out there for everyone else to see that when a moderate wins the primary, we conservatives do our duty and pull the lever. But, as folks can see from the venomous comments, it’s not looking too likely that moderates are going to be doing the same for us.

Maybe I’m wrong about this being a conservative-moderate divide so much as an “I hate everybody except MY guy/gal.”

The last person I want to win the Republican nomination is Mitt Romney, but y’all can be darn sure I’m voting for him in November 2012 if he’s our nominee. If someone you “hate” wins the primary, do you have the courage to do the same, or do you like the idea of 4 more years of Obama?

your question is beside the point

kyle8 (Diary) Thursday, March 11th at 5:47PM EST (link)

I wont be supporting the Huckster in the primaries because he is a bad candidate. If by some miracle he wins then that is another matter.

But if so it would be a real sad day for the nation because it would be a devils choice.

(lest it be misunderstood) that you agree it’s important to support the Republican in the general. I wasn’t implying you agreed that Huckabee is a great choice in the primary. And I wasn’t being sarcastic about anything. Thanks.
