Wanna Get God into the Schools? Update.

I want to thank all for their suggestions about how better to handle material like this, expecially civil_truth.

What did I mean in the home post?  Well, Obama was a hook, not the story.  But just the hook is something to ponder on.  There’s a lot in that piece to chew on, which can be good or bad .

Regarding Obama, Judeo-Christian religion tells us to beware of false prophets.  So, we have to be on guard.  But it also tells us to have faith.  God tests us.  But He also provides.  And He teaches us to forgive.  He also works in mysterious ways, and He brings us great gifts in strange packages sometimes.  So maybe we can forgive the drugs as a young man.  Maybe we can forgive the comment about clinging to guns and religion.

America has a way of having the right president at the right time –Washington, Lincoln, FDR, Truman, Kennedy, Reagan, some of them deeply flawed, but all seeming to be the right person for the moment.  I believe right at 9/11 and following, George W. Bush was the right man for the job.  He kept us safe.  No small accomplishment, that the history books will not be able to ignore.

If Rush Limbaugh is seeking to tear the country for the sake of building his own financial empire, he’s lost his way, and I hope he sees the error.  Because he has real talent.  He has the capacity to do real good work.

Right here.  The Internet is very powerful.  God didn’t invent it.  We did.  But He gave us incredible capacity to do it.   Now, it’s saving children.    The Internet is today’s great equalizer, like the Colt Peacemaker of the Old West.  Or rather, God is the Great Equalizer.

RedState Diaries aren't a blog advertising service.

NightTwister (Diary) Sunday, February 1st at 10:04AM EST (link)

This isn’t a diary, it’s an ad. If you’re looking to advertise here, I’m sure you can use the contact form to get in touch with someone that can help you.

What you’ve done here only pushes other worthy diaries down off the list.

I don't blame you for being skeptical of my motives.

But let me ask you. Who here isn’t promoting himself?

If you’re looking for a serious message, one that promotes the cause, follow the link. If you don’t like it, do what you do with every other diary post,. Move on to another. If you’re worried about my diary pushing your ideas further down, let me ask, why should I see yours any more than someone else should see mine?

I appreciate this forum and will use it to spread the word. As I use others. But then my own forum is the best for the ideas I want to really develop..

NightTwister have worked on for hours, sometimes days. Your diary took all of a few minutes to compose and post and those kinds of diaries are against the rules here.

Your diary is more appropriately a comment on an open thread instead. That’s not discriminating against what you’ve got to say, that’s just fairness to those who put a lot of work into their diaries.

Thank you.

I appreciate what you’ve said, and I will look for these open thread opportunities. Because surely, if there’s a big space on my site for His word, there must be a small space on this one.

I too have worked hard, my firend. It has taken a lifetime to get where I have with God.

Good for you. The rest of us are no pikers in that regard as well.

Plenty of us are believers, which you would know if you had spent any time reading here. Please don’t take the self-righteous attitude that we must all bend to suit you because you have some special relationship with God.

We are all equal in His sight. However, on RedState, those who put a lot of effort into their diaries are accorded more respect than those who type in two or three sentences and include a link to their own blog.

Part of the problem of the Internet is...

Curtis Hier (Diary) Sunday, February 1st at 2:20PM EST (link)

Because we can’t see each other, and do not see facial expressions and hear tones, we sometimes think sincerity is sarcasm. Or self-righteousness. I mean well. I will take care to provide longer diaries and use open threads. As Yoda would say, “Much to learn I have.”

Two points...

mbecker908 (Diary) Sunday, February 1st at 2:33PM EST (link)

One, you could have reposted the BBOW diary here at RS with an appropriate link. Folks like gamecock, who publishes at The Minority Report, do it all the time and it’s an accepted and acceptable thing to do.

Two, this is a political site, not a religious site. Don’t start posting overtly religious stuff or stuff that will engender theological debates.

Answer to your question as to how to get God into our schools

civil truth (Diary) Sunday, February 1st at 7:02PM EST (link)

Have Him impersonate Barack Obama. :)

Sorry, couldn’t resist. Though we are seeing in some circles an worship of Obama that approaches idolatry.

I did actually link to your blog, but I really don’t have a clue what you were really trying to say in your full-lengthe piece there. So please elaborate either as a comment below or – better – as an update to your post above.

And to echo comments from others, RS etiquette is that you post substantive commentary here so that people can intelligently discuss your points without having to link to an outside site. It’s quite fine excerpt here and link to articles on your on blog, where we can go for supplements – but make sure that what you post here at RedState is sufficient unto itself and not just a teaser.

The greatest evil…is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed, and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voice. Hence, naturally enough, my symbol for Hell is something like the bureaucracy of a police state or the offices of a thoroughly nasty business concern. -C.S. Lewis
