If we don’t make a large public effort to tighten up procedures we’ll only encourage more terrorists to infiltrate. Ah, look how easy it is to infiltrate America, and they pay you to boot!

I would bet that back in WW2, a soldier who spoke about how great Tojo and Tokyo Rose were would get booted out too – or maybe just get a thorough education from the other guys in his unit.

It’s just common sense that in today’s world, any soldier who says that jihad and terrorism are great is a security risk.

Maybe you are right, but how do you create a system or procedures that meet the objective of looking out for people who might do the sort of stuff that just happened without creating a climate of distrust among men and women who count on others to have their back in combat? Do you limit to just Muslims or do you include people of other faith backgrounds? Who decides, what protections from such a program being miss-used in the say way complaints against police often are?

I don’t know how you do it, ideas?

If you say so. But speak for yourself, not “the rest of us.” I could generate a pretty long list of objectively trustworthy people in roles of public protection. Interestingly, I doubt a one of them would consider themselves “liberal.”

Both despise the American Soldier and both have a serious problem with sending American Soldiers to fight fellow Moslems in Afghanistan.

The fear of discrimination and harassment complaints and suits is so great inside government that anyone who is a member of a protected class is pretty much immune even from scrutiny and they are almost totally immune from discipline and discharge.

My government was one of the more agressive of the unionized states in dealing with performance issues but as a general matter when a supervisor or manager called me about a performance issue, my first question was whether or not the employee was a member of a protected class.

But he wasn’t. And now the question is how many more out there will be emboldened by this man’s actions to do something similar or worse?
