It may not be November yet, but our boy Barry isn’t wasting any time acting as if here were already our next President and he’s out there doing the Lord’s work of healing America. After all, as a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions it makes perfect sense for Obamident Barry to start off with apologies and promises of reparations to any and all that may have ever suffered at the hands of our sad and tragic past transgressions as a Nation:
“I personally would want to see our tragic history, or the tragic elements of our history, acknowledged,” the Democratic presidential hopeful said.
“I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it’s Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds.”
This idea of acknowledging our “tragic history” while laying the groundwork for paying “people of color” back, in some nebulously described way, is not new. The timing of this particular remark from Obamident Barry is a little curious, though, laid down alongside the US House of Representative’s successful attempts to apologize to black Americans for the wrongs committed against them and their ancestors who suffered under slavery and Jim Crow segregation laws yesterday. [reference H. Res. 194]
Let’s be clear about something up front; slavery was [and in some countries to this day still IS] a dark and evil thing. But, apologizing for committing an evil act does not in any way undo that act, nor does it make anyone feel better about the horrors and the suffering from said act…save for the one MAKING the apology. In this case, something a little more sinister might be at play, given the political status of the bill’s author Rep. Steve Cohen.
As a “white guy” representing a “black” district, Cohen (who is in jeopardy of not getting re-elected) might just have been a little more motivated by his lust for power than by his sense of guilt for the horrors of slavery and Jim Crow. Call me cynical, but there it is…and to quote a friend’s first thought on this little gem of news…”there’s nothing quite like a bunch of privileged white guys apologizing for something they had nothing to do with to make you feel great about your country.”
With all this talk about how this Presidential race is NOT about “race”, I can’t help noticing how many of our Political Heroes are trying to be as “white” or as “black” as they think you need them to be if only you’ll cast your vote for them in the next election…yep, I know-there I go being cynical again.

Whom pays these reparations? pure blood white people? because it sure would not be fair to use tax dollars because that would include people of color’s money as well and they are the aggrieved are they not?
Oh and by the way Barry as an American Indian I don’t NEED anything from you or our government but to be left alone…ie: keep your GREEDY mitts off my money for your vote buying programs….they will vote for you anyway!

Obama apologize for slavery?
Marcus_Traianus (Diary) Wednesday, July 30th at 9:55AM EST (link)Certainly, no sane person would ever think slavery an excusable, altruistic practice. However, given our countries history and the fact this is a Constitutional inefficacacity most heavily paid for in the blood of our countrymen, I believe payment has been rendered.
Perhaps Obama can go to Montgomery or Richmond and try to extract his pound of flesh from the defunct Confederacy. After all, it was the “party of Lincoln” that tried to cure this ill through Constitutional means, not war.
“Both of our political parties, at least the honest portion of them, agree conscientiously in the same object—the public good; but they differ essentially in what they deem the means of promoting that good. One side believes it best done by one composition of the governing powers; the other, by a different one. One fears most the ignorance of the people; the other, the selfishness of rulers independent of them. Which is right, time and experience will prove.”.Thomas Jefferson

You see liberals, appalled with who they have had to share the nation with, eager to publicize their ersatz morality & superiority, and always ready to denigrate the country they love[?] find apologies easy to come by.
Plus it’s an easy way to reopen old wounds & encourage the divisiveness they purport to abhor.

bluechiplaw (Diary) Wednesday, July 30th at 10:20AM EST (link)“I consistently believe . . . .” Has anybody ever noticed Obama’s tendency to say things like this. Does he always believe such and such, or is it merely consistent? Why does Obama feel the need to throw in “I’ve always said,” or “I’ve consistently believed,” before stating whatever asinine thing it is that he’s consistently or always said?
Seriously, start listening to Obama’s statements for the words “consistently” and “always.”

Sorry for slavery Yes! but who should apologize?
onlylewis Wednesday, July 30th at 11:20AM EST (link)To anyone who thinks that only the blacks were enslaved and mistreated.
Yes this nation has done a lot of bad things in the past and probably will do more in the future. Should we be sorry for the act of slavery? YES we should! Should we only be sorry for the enslavement of the people from Africa NO.
I am of Scottish decent (with a little cherokee thrown in) my fore-fathers were slaves just as black fore-fathers were. My ancestors were discrimanated against and not allowed to own property or get good jobs. In the state of New York and over most of the US the Scotish and Irish were considered trash. We had no NAACP or rich white people to stand up for us. Fact being the same rich whites that helped the blacks out of the Jim Crow era would not even let my family live in share croper shacks on thier property. If they hired them it was to feed the hogs or do other such dirty jobs.
And if we want to talk about lasting effects of slavery and ill treatment lets look at my life. I am the youngest of four children from a family with an income from a factory workers salary. My mother was ill from the time I was born. (She could not get medical help from the gov’t because my dad made to much money. Ain’t that a joke.) As I grew up my brothers nor my sister could go to college because my parents could not afford it. But many blacks got scholarships that my siblings could not qualify for. Then when it became my time to graduate from high school I faced the same problem, everyone else could qualify for scholarships but me, black, female, hispanics so on and so forth. So I had to attempt to work and go to college. I am in my 40’s now and I’m still working on that. I have worked my but off over the years I now have a good job and I am looking forward to the future. My ancestors were kept down so much that my family had nothing to build on. We had to fight discrimanation to get everything that we achieved. But we did fight. And we are still fighting today.
So many of you may say that only the blacks have been mistreated so badly that no one else can understand it. Well let’s take a look back at history and see that over the centuries many nations have enslaved many peoples and many nations have survived being enslaved. Here in the US this nation has been formed from the sweat and blood of all our fore-fathers. We are all Amercians. The efforts of your ancestors and mine have made this country what it is today. It’s good , it’s bad, all races have invested in our present condition. The black race has given a lot to this nation as has mine. So if you wish to call Africa your home land that is up to you. But as for me I will call America my home and will forgive and try to forget the past treatment of my people. Scotland is my ancestors home but America is mine.
Again I say should we be sorry for slavery, Yes we should be sorry that the the ruling whites and ruling blacks of our forefather’s countries sold us into slavery and that the people who enslaved us enslaved us. Should we pay reparations No we should not.
I will say to any person that can prove the chain of mistreament, prove it then take that family to court and try to get relief. But as for blanketing a race with a bunch of money with no proof that that family’s ancestors were actually slaves I will say is not a proper remedy for the pains of the past. It will just be away to give money to get votes and fame. The nation can not make people like and treat each other with respect.
We are Americans not Scottish, African, Irish, German, Jewish, etc American. And yes the Native Americans were over ran and destoryed by the invading English settelers. And before the settelers got here they were killing and enslaving each other. Just as the people of Africa are still doing today. Just as the rich take advantage of the less previledged.
May God have mercy on us all.
Since charity begins at home, the Democratic party should be the first to apologize
streetwise (Diary) Wednesday, July 30th at 12:36PM EST (link)for defending slavery, determination to extend slavery into the territories, blackmailing the Union with threats of secession, seceeding from the Union over an utterly constitutional presidential election, undermining the Civil War effort during the election of 1864 (another McClellan- there must be something in that blood), enacting segregation and Jim Crow, the Klan (Obama can meet with Robert Byrd to learn more), “Birth of a Nation”, Wilsonian efforts to suppress black aspirations, Roosevelt’s alliances of convenience with Southern race baiters, the destructive welfare state whose effects have plagued African-Americans for generations…

Obama reserves his right
FrustratedSouthernLady Wednesday, July 30th at 7:53PM EST (link)Yes, he always reserves the right to be wrong. He is a Christian, he says, but he also said he could be wrong!.If you are a true Christian and you have met “Our Lord” you can’t be wrong. Now he has sponsored a bill which no one in the House read yet the House passed it, to give the United Nations $486 Million annually for Global Poverty and if the Senate doesn’t do a better job than the House, guess who gets to pay for it? Should our President and Congress legis- late charity for us all? He is Robin Hood and he is taking from us and giving it away. Not Fair!
