If you doubt that seniors will get active – just take a look at who is the BIGGEST demographic of volunteers in the nation! Whether in distaster relief, schools and hospitals, community food drives, Red Cross, or very low paid poll workers. Its the Senior Citizen HEROES in our country who make things work and you dismiss them at your own peril. They have the time and they WILL make your lives miserable!

Many of the provisions of the stimulus bill aren’t set to kick in until mid to late 2010 and ’11. I think the reason for that is the Dems are hoping those stimulations, if they work, will make people think the Dems actually did the right thing and it will propel them to re-election. I’m thinking the opposite will happen when people see how they will make the deficit balloon. After all, the deficit of Bush is one of the main points Obama campaigned on.

reasons for skepticism. Why does there need to be subsidization of end of life planning. To get more of it. If the patient and his/her family do not seek such planning on their own, they are being encouraged to seek it. Who benefits. The well-off likely seek out and implement this type of planning on their own. Whereas the less well-off may not, so the subsidy would be there to encourage them to do so. A class warrior would think, this is to make things more fair and just. A skeptic would think the more helpless are being encouraged to think in terms of benefitting productive society. Or, I’m just imagining it, like Sarah Palin.

The birthrate in America declined 2% last year.

America is getting older. Every year will see more & more
seniors lining up for MediCare. These folks paid into Social Security and MediCare all their working lives – 30-50 years or more…..

Now Obama wants to screw them?

The demographics are against the socialists.

They are about 20 years to late….they thought Carter was the ONE, then Bill Clinton……Obama is about 7300 days late and a trillion dollars short.

The dems obviously didn’t have the votes before the recess and have less now as blue dogs see the real danger to their re-elections are upset old voters rather than Pelosi’s committee assignment threats.

The “economy” for the elderly is Medicare.

Two things:

1. They can get this passed before the end of the year. That way there will be the better part of a year before the Nov 2010 elections. They hope that tempers will have cooled. Also, people won’t really start seeing a change in their health care until about 2013, so they won’t know how bad it really is.

2. The economy will improve and all will be forgiven. There are muted signs of this already. In a year, things will probably be better and Obama & Company will be saying it’s all because of the moves they made. Many people may buy that.

Republicans / Conservatives need to develop their message for when the economy starts to pick up. They need to have tangible proof that Obama’s spending is causing more harm than good and any recovery is being tempered by those policies.
