What do Jim Crow and gay marriage have in common?

Such laws only gain popular support where few blacks vote

Should gay marriage proponents be discredited as merely white north easterners given that the GOP is said to be fast becoming an insignificant regional party of only white male southerners?

That is the refrain liberal Democrats and their useful idiots in the Republican Party have sung since the 2006 election to suggest that conservatives must move left to be a relevant national party once more. No matter that the Democratic Party regained majorities in Congress primarily by running to the right in Southern and other “blue dawg” districts.

Since when did contiguousness of the like-minded matter so much and doesn’t the size of the region matter more? Is truth confined only to appeals affirmed by the diaspora?

Or is the claim anti-Southern bigotry disguised? See recent attacks on dreaded white, male Southerner, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL).

Yet, we are told that national gay marriage is inevitable based on its recent successes primarily confined to a puny region of the Lower Forty-Eight (pictured in green) where sitings of black folks are more rare that UFOs.

Given the size of the Southern region (pictured in red), wouldn’t it be more prescient to say that opposition to tea drinker opposition to government bailouts and tax hikes on businesses are going the way of the dinosaur?

And let’s look more closely at these New England (and other blue state) “successes”:

States where gays may marry now: MA, CT, and IA

Judicially imposed gay marriage: Massachusetts, Iowa, Connecticut

The number of states where gay marriage has been approved by votes of the people: 0

Prominent Blue states where the people have rejected gay marriage when given the chance: California, twice and Massachusetts

State Legislatures that have approved gay marriage not yet overturned by referendum: NH, VT, and ME

Pretty puny evidence of an inevitability especially when compared to this evidence:

States with laws prohibiting same-sex marriage: 45

30 states have constitutional amendments banning same-sex marriage most of which have been passed within the last 15 years.

What is inevitable is that the Drive-by media will continually tell us that universally recognized and accepted gay marriage is inevitable.

But its not.

Another inevitability is the ObamaDem Left’s ongoing effort to criminalize speech opposing gay marriage.

Beware.

And maybe this will be one of the triggers that finally wakes up the minority community to see the bankruptcy of the D party.

Rs could, for the first time in a long time, have a legit shot at breaking up that monopoly vote if we will capitalize on the split between the people and their party on both gay marriage and school choice.

Gay marriage will win, just like Alf Landon.

Maine and Vermont–the wave of the future? So I guess Alf Landon was destined to win the presidency. Those were the two states that he carried against FDR.

Who was the last president to nullify the judiciary?

avgamerican (Diary) Sunday, May 10th at 6:03PM EST (link)

During the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus causing Chief Justice Taney to retort that Lincoln had exceeded his authority. Lincoln’s response went something like this:

“More robes than men hide behind habeas corpus.” Then Lincoln contemplated placing Chief Justice Taney under arrest. (PBS Civil War Series)

Andrew Jackson in response to Supreme Court ruling blocking his eviction order of the Chrokee Indians : “They made their ruling. Now let them enforce it.”

Now we have obvious abuse of power by the court and neither the legislature or president do anything. Just as Jim Crow laws were unjust homosexuality propaganda is unjust.

Maybe the real problem with the civil war was that that wrong part of the country tried to succeed. I say let them go and we can start enjoying America again without being told that whatever some egghead at Yale thinks must be the wave of the future.

Easy to be tolerant when you don't have to practice what you preach from these states

Interesting correlation GC

So basically “white states” filled with progressive, aplogetic white-guilt, bleeding-heart liberals should be the next to strike down the bans on gay marriage i.e. Montana, Minnesota, Rhode Island, Wisconsin.

In Minnesota’s case, especially, I’m really surprised those liberal old-world progressives haven’t approved gay marriage by now. Not only is the Democratic Machine big in Minneapolis/St Paul but the state hasn’t went red since Nixon and will never in our lifetimes. In 2000 they thought it was a “swing state”.
No. 2004? No.2008?
Hardly.

These are the same freaks that are about to elect Al Franken to Senate. What does that tell you?

After all, if little Hayseed Iowa can make them look bad by beating them to the punch, shouldn’t they be next on board?

Doesn’t really matter anyway though. I’ve said all along these “bans” are simply temporary. Some day 20-30 years from now GEN-PC as I call today’s Obama Youth voters, will simply over turn these bans the same way the Jim Crow bans were overturned (and no one thought that would ever be done either).

Funny how states with such homogeneous populations try to be the most tolerant by enforcing these equality rules. Its really easy to push tolerance when everyone looks like you or you don’t have to deal with the very people you claim to be fighting for.

(Kind of like during Jim Crow). It was the liberal whites coming down to the South trying to tell Southerners how they should act and live knowing full well at the end of the day they could simply get back on their bus, head back up North, and watch the Southerners figure out how to deal with their new mess.
