I just read in William Bennett's America: The Last Best Hope that upon visiting/staying at the White House (gee, when will that name change?) during WW II, Churchill asked FDR if some of his marines could accompany him at the White House. Without skipping a beat, FDR replied: "I'm not sure. The last time they were here they burned out the place," referring to the War of 1812.

If any of you homeschool out there, Bennett's two-volume set on American history would make an excellent full-year textbook for an American History class (jr year/11th grade). 14-15 chapters per semester/volume. Bennett has some humorous and little known stories sprinkled throughout.

I think it is more likely Obama is following the rule of endeavoring to appease your enemies and taking your friends for granted. Which is a good way to end up with no friends and a sh*tload of enemies.

You write that it is personal, but it is really a lot more than that. If it were only personal Obama could have given the gift to Biden and let it sit on a desk in his office, This was an open and public revenge that the world could see, and especially his brothers, sisters, and grandmother in Kenya could see that he was settling a score and getting even on behalf of the Kenyans.

This diplomatic slap in the face from Obama to the Brits had nothing to do with any US concerns. Maybe the lawmakers ought to think about clarifying how it might matter if somebody is "natural born" enough to run for President when none of the living blood relatives are citizens of the USA.
