I was witness to the Clinton cuts. I’m really not sure how much more can be cut without seriously damaging this country’s ability to protect itself from those who would do it harm. I watched as many were pressured into taking early retirements with greatly reduced benefits to bring about the reduction in troop levels in the 90s and look for more of the same to happen in the years ahead, not to mention all the things already mentioned. I suppose half a bird is better than none if they were forced out woth nothing, right?

On the other hand, if we can survive this, we’ll be better for it. There’s only so much stupidity We The People will take before we take matters into our own hands… even when it’s some of We The People who voted it in.

I will let everyone know when I am looking for a job.

Anyway, FCS great idea, but not exactly executed properly. Cuts necessary but complete abandonment will be disasterous. My understanding is that FCS is for the next wars – super-soldiers and UAV, USV and UNV etc. A reorientation is necessary, but a cut will show a complete lack of coordination with the brass and may be due to O’s political appointments to the DoD.

I am not too familiar with the Joint Tactical Radio Systems

DDX, if it is the stealth destroyer, I think a few of these is not a bad idea to have now even with the price tag of >>3B. With the re-emergence of the Russian (Soviet) KGB run government stealth on the seas may be necessary. We will wait and see. The DCX is the same arguement.

Once again, I have a front line seat for all of this coming down and will let all here know when I see the cuts affect my employment. Let me iterate for all Government people reading this, I love my job, please save my job Mr. Obama.

Future Combat System will be cut…no tears shed.

JTRS will be even more scaled back…no tear shed.

DCX will probably get the ax….not doing all that well anyway.

JSF will be left alone, too many jobs riding on that one, and International sales.

It will be an interesting time in DoD land.

Let me add one thing, I hope Obama will continue our weapons development programs that are specifically tagged for use in the GWOT. Trust me I will be watching closely, as I have a vested interest, for any cut in funding to these programs. If he cuts these programs, I will be inclined to think that his willingness to conduct and win the GWOT is absent and he will conduct policy in accord with his statements made during the campaign for defense spending.

I will also be watching the Congress closely since the first signs of program cuts will come out of there.
