Iowa State Universtiy Lecturer Atttacks College Reublicans for Supporting Troops

http://www.iowastatedaily.com/opinion/article_0bce0016-1e91-11e1-96a8-001871e3ce6c.html
The Iowa Federation of College Republicans held it’s 5th annual Christmas Troop care package drive on Saturday December 3rd. So the Iowa State College Republicans got the Iowa State Daily (our school paper) to write an article promoting our event and encouraging students to donate time or money (We raised over $400.00), from Monday the 28th to Friday the 2nd. We collected the donations all we in our memorial union. Then we assembled the care packages on the 3rd. On Monday we came back to school to see a radical leftist lecturer, spouting his views in a letter to the editor in The Daily (Which he has every right to do). He attacked us for supporting the troops, and hating the poor, as you can see in the link. He twisted our intentions and purpose for the gain of attacking Republicans in a below the belt blow, and the chance to spout his left wing hate. But we are concerned about the bias of this lecturer and how he may take this out on conservative students. Our past chair was accused and acquitted of plagiarism, by another English instructor for writing a paper that wasn’t left leaning, and was the antithesis of the instructors views.  I have Since written a letter that is slated to be published on Thursday in The Daily, The thiowarepublican.com will also be publishing a story today, along with me being on WHO Radio Des Moines 1040 AM today around 4:30 on the Simon Conway Show to discuss this attack. Our chair has put out an email to our over 800 strong email list, asking to get over 100 letters to the editor sent in over the next few days about this issue, and condemning the attack on supporting troops, “which is not a partisan issue,” Stephen Quist ISU College Republican Chairman. This is just one more example of College Campuses Left wing bias that we fight everday here.

Iowa is getting more than its fair share of left wing profs indoctrinating students, from a prof telling University of Iowa College Republicans to Go F*ck themselves to Grinnell College Organizing Students to disrupt Michael Bachmann campaign events, to this we are continuing the fight.

When the response gets published I will attack a link to it as well.

Ohio Redistricting

Right off the bat sorry, but I don’t know how to attach my map.

I played around with Ohio I found the best way to shed 2 seats. We need to combine OH-16, OH-10, and OH-13 (Renacci, Kucinich, Sutton). This District that I propose went for Obama by just under 2% so we can hold it but it will be expensive.  The way I did this was to expand OH-11 to pick up as much of OH-10 as possible. OH-9 Marcy Kaptur’s district will need to shed much of the Western Toledo area, and become much thinner, as it follows Lake Erie. It stretched all the way to Elyria and Lorain. OH-14 Steve LaTourette’s district will pick up the most moderate areas of OH-17 and OH-11, and will be about even for McCain v Obama. Then OH-17 (Which of course will have a new number) will lose some area to OH-14, and will be Niles and Youngstown then get very skinny, and run to Kent and pick up much of Akron. This I believe will be the best way for Ohio to redistrict, it forces out one dem, and then gives us a a swing district with a Republican and a Dem in it and will be more favorable in almost any circumstance then it was in ’08 so we can hold it.

Charles Djou’s Campaign Strategy.

“I will bring an independent approach to a Washington polarized between political extremes. Hawai‘i needs a bi-partisan congressional delegation that can talk with both sides of the aisle. Hawai‘i needs active representation. I look forward to earning your trust.” From Charles Djou’s announcement for his 2012 Congressional bid.

This is wrong, its conviction less, passionless, and devoid of emotion (Frankly we are tired of hearing it). I have always thought let moderates exist were only a moderate can win. But having said that there comes a time when they are too moderate and should be cast out of the party. Lincoln Chaffee would be a great example. Olympia Snowe, is border line for me I think since the talk of primary challenges she has moved to the right a bit, which makes me satisfied with her. But I think someone needs to tell here this is it, run in 2012 then don’t even think about 2018. I have also long thought we need a set of negotiables lines that Republican politicians cannot cross.  Such as no new taxes as an example.

How this has to do with Congressman Djou, I’m Fine with bipartisanship. Some days it seems both sides try to make issues out of nothing in order to make gains. Make no controversial into controversial. But Congressman, please come out swinging with certain principles that you will not cross. There are many different types of independents (Blamers, moderate seekers, and those who want someone who says what they mean and mean what they say, to name a few). Let us on the Right know that you are with us where we really need you. Taking an unwavering stand on some issues is important, we are tired of passionless, invertebrates that will not stand a fight for something they believe in. I would love to see you back in Congress, but show everyone that you are will to fight for something. I don’t think that this will hurt you in anyway, but it can only hope, you must distinguish yourself, its why we lost so bad in 2006 why vote for Dem Lite when you can have a Democrat?

Listen, Give them Hell, be relentless, and Win.

Hawaii, The Voting Rights Act, and some food for thought.

Why doesn’t Hawaii have to submit its State Legislative districts to the Obama Justice Department, like other states do? By all means when you look at the break down of it’s population by race it should have to, 24% White, 2% Black, 38% Asian, 10% Pacific Islander, and 24% Mixed. The Voting Rights Act was put in place to “protect” minorities and let them chose a candidate of there own preference. In the case of Hawaii there is no majority, but whites are clearly a minority, shouldn’t they be protected in Hawaii, or shouldn’t the natives, or even the Asians? Should each of these racial breakdowns get so many seats in which they are the majority of voters in said seats? I really am just writing this as some food for thought. I think it would be interesting if someone would challenge Hawaii’s districts just to prove the errors in the Voting Rights Act. The Fact that the act is spurring on what little racism is left in America, is awful and why it needs to go. How is it fair for those who are not the protect minority that is made the majority in a VRA district? How legal would it be if a state (with 12 congressional seats and 25% Black population) made 3 Black districts at large, and only blacks could vote in those seats. If that state was say Georgia, is that right do blacks in Atlanta have the same concern as Blacks in Brunswick? I am sure that many people would have a problem with essentially segregated voting like I described there. I think we should just elect our representatives as Americans, and be done with this dumb idea of race being so important.

Rhode Island Redistricting

I wonder if Rhode Island have two at large districts (statewide districts) instead of two similar to what they have now, would benefit of hurt republicans? Personally I think it would be easier to recruit candidates. Plus it would be eaiser to gain senate seats if a house memeber is already elected statewide. Rhode Island is also so small, land wise (1,545 sq miles) and the smallest state in population (1,052,567) with two house members, that to me it seems it would be eaiser to have at large representives. What I have seen as possible names of challengers for Senator Sheldon Whitehouse in 2012 many currently live in the same district. Many of them sound like good candidates. It would be a shame if they all fought in a primary over a senate seat, then only one can go to a general election. I hope that some would try to run for a house seat instead then try to take on Jack Reed later. At Large districts could allow two candidates that are currently in the same district to advance to a general election and give us a better shot at gaining seats. Another advantage would be how we could match up against democrats. Someone who would normally be seperated by district boundries could be the strongest candidate against a certain democrat (Personallity reasons, back ground, ect). This may be a way that we could make up some ground in Rhode Island, without obviously gerrymandering.

Texas Redistricting Ideas

Congressman Canseco (R) and Congressman Cuellar (D) could be thrown together in a district that goes from Laredo up to Bexar County (San Antone) and parts in between. This would make a fairly even swing district would be around 60-75% Hispanic, but about 50-50 McCain/Obama. But I think it would be a good chance for Canseco to knock out Cuellar, Canseco he grew up in Laredo but now lives in San Antonio, he is also Hispanic. The district would be more of people that Canseco has represented before, than Cuellar.  It would give us a pick up. Hopefully we can get Llyod Doggett. But I’m pretty sure we can get Gene Green as well.

Scott Walker it’s time for a Reagan Moment

Scott Walker needs to make it know that all illegal public employee strikes will result in immediate termination of employment. He should say all people who call in sick must come to work and prove they are sick or subject to the lose of their job. This must be done because I’m sure one sympathetic liberal doctor can be found to give out notes to everyone striking. Then if the illegal strikes continue he needs to be like Reagan with the air traffic controllers. These civil servants need to remember who pays them.

Florida Senate

Allen West should run against Nelson, and since I doubt Jeb will run, and i don’t think Bill McCollum will either. Plus if his seat was open it may allow for easier redistricting , we would not have to worry about one more incumbent to protect. And hopefully we could get rid of Debbie Wasserman-Schultz if we can alter districts enough. I think LTC West is a better candidate (he’s just awesome!) then Connie Mack. Also a thought on Mack. If his wife Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack’s (CA-45) districts if redistricted unfavorably. I wonder if she will run for his open seat if he runs for senate. Plus he can probably be a better fundraiser. And no one else has his fearless, courageous, and audacious personality.

Obama went down to Carolin’, he was lookin’ for some votes to get,

He was in a bind cuz he was way behind and he was willing to make a deal.

When he came across a Tar Heel on the stump ‘n gainin’ ground.

And Obama jumped up on a hickory stump and said, “Tar Heel le’me tell you what,

I’ll be you didn’t know it but I’m campaigner too ,

And if you care to take a dare I’ll make a bet with you,

I know you give a pretty good speech, but give the pres his due,

I’ll bet Obamacare against your ‘lection, cuz I think I’m better than you.”

The boy said, “my name’s Johnny and it should be a crime,

But butt I’ll take your bet your gonna regret cuz I’m conservative as can be!”

Johnny quote Reagan and be a star.

Cuz Obama’s loose in Carolin’, and he’s still the pres,

And if you win you saved us all,

But if you lose we all do too.

Obama put his prompter up and said “I’ll start this debate!”

And words started lining up on the prompter as he finished his cig.

He threw the race card out and promised higher taxes.

Then a band of hippies cheered as he to cap and trade.

When Obama finished Johnny said, “well your pretty good old pres,

But go home to Chicago cuz I‘ll show you how’s it’s done!”

Government growin’ stop it, stop!

Obama’s still in the house that’s white,

Constitution in Obama’s cross hairs,

American’s gonna take it?

No, Hell No!

Obama bowed his head cuz he knew that he’d be shellacked.

And he repealed the bill in Johnny’s hand.

Johnny said, “Obama come on back if you ever wanna try again,

Cuz I told you once you ex pres I’m the best there’s ever been!”

And he spoke, “Government growin’ stop it, stop!

Obama’s in the house that’s white,

Constitution in Obama’s cross hairs,

American’s gonna take it?

No, Hell No!”

Hope Y’all enjoy!

Ensuring Representation

I’m sorry this may sound terrible, but I don’t mean it in that way at all.

Congresswoman Giffords cannot represent her constituents in her current state, and something needs to be done. It needs to be known how long before she can return to congress, if she even can return. If it isn’t able to within a few months she needs to resign, or be forced to. There needs to be a law protecting constituents, representation in congress. Forcing special elections after so long with out representation. I found it awful what Gov Patterson did in New York after Congressman Massa Resigned. The constituents were with out representation for almost 8 months, he was play political games and wasn’t looking out for 1/29 of his constituents. I think that 100 days is plenty of time for a special election.  In a case such as Congresswoman Giffords maybe we should have laws allowing a temporary seat filler, if she can return, if she cannot she needs to go because it is the right thing for voters. For any major tragedy (serve car accident, as in they are in a hospital for 6 months) or even major unexpected medical events (Cancer treatment), or anything that can hinder and elected official from doing their job. we need to have provision in place, to make sure we are represented. I would not have a problem if someone came out and said I can’t do my job for six months, fill my seat temporarily, then have rules regarding procedure for this.  Plus rules that would force a resignation of an elected official, without them resigning, after missing so many consecutive votes, or days not at there congressional office doing their job. To put it simply maybe we as constituents need a bill of rights.
