wow, you do have a very tiny view of the world. Since when would a country follow our lead to destroy their economy? I am sure the Chinese would love for us to commit suicide.

So -- your argument is basically, while you acknowledge the need to reduce CO2 emissions to protect the environment, the US shouldn't do anything because China wouldn't, either?

Wouldn't it make it easier to get China to take action by first taking action in the US and setting an example?

Or does action have to happen at exactly the same time, by both countries? I don't get it.

1. NY Times, 12/25/08, "Solar Meets Polar as Winter Curbs Clean Energy," by Kate Galbraith. Details wind turbine blades freezing up, hurling chunks of ice; biofuel not working in cold weather, truck breaking down. (See separate article about Minnesota school buses breaking down due to state mandated biofuel. Leaving children freezing at bus stops. 2. Article by the AP: "China Dams Reveal flaws in Climate Change Weapon, 1/25/09, by McDonald and Hanley.
between 1957-l967 (minus l year in '62 & 2 months every two yrs. to come
stateside). Yeah, I know most of you weren't even born then. I would like to
make 2 points. 1) The culture may have changed since then, but the mindset
has not. Iran & other mideast countries view O's overtures as weakness--of
that I have no doubt. 2) Iranians consider themselves Persians, not Arabs.
(it's a grave insult to call them an Arab). While the Arab nations may support
Iran publicly, they do not want Iran to have nuclear capabilites. Iran's
exportation of Islamic jihadism threatens their power in their respective
countries. That's the good news. The bad news is I believe countries
such as Syria will fast forward their own nuclear developments. Sorry this is so long!

Don't forget that even Mssrs. Waxman & Markey will not tout any climate benefit to the cap and trade bill. Even if one buys the climate science malarkey, this is a feel-good bill, where we would voluntarily tax the bejeezus out of ourselves so that we can claim some kind of moral high ground. There is no impact on global temperature at all -- it's not even a selling point.

Good luck on CNBC. Feel free to use my alternate title for the Waxman-Markey bill.
