I think you’re correct in your analysis. And it’s not just the union issues that make Texas a better deal for CAT. Illinois also has a very high corporate tax rate and very high property tax rates. It costs a LOT to do business here and we’ve reached the point where it’s cheaper to abandon operations and move to a lower overhead area.

It does this by either borrowing or taxing.
They’ve taken about $1 trillion additional out of the economy for Spendulus and Bawl-Out. It’s no wonder the credit markets suck, there’s no extra capital. It’s no wonder Caterpillar and companies like it are laying people off, they and their customers can get the credit they need to create more.
And no one is investing in new business because they’re afraid Obama is going to enact punishing taxes (as he has promised to do).
This isn’t an attempt to stimulate our economy. It’s an orchestrated effort to ruin it so they can enact whatever legislation they like in the name of “emergency” economic stimulus.

Caterpillar CEO Jim Owens repudiated these Obama lies after Barack repeated them in a visit to CAT’s corporate headquarters in Illinois. There, BO told factory workers that Owens had promised fewer layoffs in the event that the porkulus/spending bill was passed.
Holding out false hopes to workers who know their jobs may be at risk is about as rotten as it gets…..the kind of demagoguery you’d expect from the likes of Obama.
Adding insult to injury, Obama and Pelosi continue to block a vote on the Columbia Free Trade Agreement—the no-cost stimulus that would be a boon to Caterpillar and other manufacturing companies.

The ObamaBinBiden admin, of course, characterized (read: LIED) about the event that everyone in attendance was in agreement with the Stimulus needing to Pass and that CAT would save (if not increase/rehire) jobs as a result. Again, BOLD FACED LIES! They did so fully knowing the MSM would cover only the propaganda (read: LIES) that the admin wanted covered (except, of course, for FOX actually interviewing actual folks that told the real story). I can’t remember a case where the CEO of a major American corporation felt compelled to call a news conference, essentially to tell us that the President had just lied to his employees. BO’s lackey Robert Gibbs gave a typically wimpy response to the charge, claiming that the difference between Owens’ version of events and Obama’s was simply one of “nuance.” No wonder Obama hasn’t appointed any business leaders to Cabinet positions…..the truth hurts, and he just wants yes-people.
Once again, Gibbs reminds me of Groucho Marx’s famous line: “who are you going to believe? Me, or your own lying eyes!”
