“The announcement comes after a Siena College poll found she was in third place with 20 percent of the vote in the heavily Republican district that has been safe ground for the party for more than 100 years. Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman and Democratic nominee Bill Owens were too close to call with 35 percent and 36 percent, respectively.

The race has pitted conservative and moderate wings of the Republican Party against each other in a battle of ideology. The special election in New York’s rural north has received national attention as big-name Republicans including Sarah Palin, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson have thrown their support behind Hoffman. Money poured into Hoffman’s campaign from all over the country.

“In today’s political arena, you must be able to back up your message with money — and as I’ve been outspent on both sides, I’ve been unable to effectively address many of the charges that have been made about my record,” Scozzafava said.

Some have called the race a test of the GOP’s future: whether traditional conservative ideology would lead the way forward or if a more inclusive approach would draw more people back to the party. Hoffman and his backers said Scozzafava was too liberal to truly represent the Republican party, specifically noting her support of abortion rights and same-sex marriage.”

I weakly submitted to my fellow conservative bloggers and voted for the lesser of the two liberals in the last election. I heard many time that a vote for principles would wind up being a vote for the Democrats.

It appears to me, and I pray fervently, that a number of Americans are waking up and realizing that a vote for the principles of the republic is the way to vote. Party means nothing when the candidates platforms are so much alike.

I resigned from the Republican party membership after the last election. I will, never again , vote for anyone except the best candidate. The candidate who swears to uphold the Constitution and will challenge its misinterpretations by a judiciary that fancies itself as the legislative branch of our country.

If my candidates should not win, I still will win. I will be able to put my head down on my pillow each night knowing that I did what was right for my country.

Anti illegal immigration
Seeker of trade balances
Pro-life
Non-believer in AGW
Upholder of the Constitution

Among many beliefs, I hold that Islam is a political ideology as well as a religion and has not place in American life. I do not feel that way about other religions. (Look at Dearborn, among other cities.)

I have promoted myself to an officer in my own army of one. This releases me from my oath when I was an enlisted man and I no longer have to follow the orders of the President. I may rescind that after the next presidential election.

Now back to work. The election has not been held yet. Now comes the hard part getting out the vote. Must merge fast with Dede’s get out the vote people and the NRCC and get those people to the polls.
This is so close to victory now the real work begins. How can the rank and file help get out the vote? That is imperative.
Fred Thompson and his wife have done too much for the rest of us not to carry Hoffman over the finish line to victory.

If you, and some of the other, had not come out strong for Hoffman early on, as you did, I fear a great many other “supporters” would still be sitting on their hands.

Principled and courageous leadership will guide us back to the land the founders.

It’s individuals like yourself and Governor Palin that are speaking for us in telling the party leadership that someone with an (R) after his/her name isn’t good enough; we want elected representatives that will fight for limited government, strong national security, secure borders, lower taxes, and free market principles.

Libs are really wound up over this. “How can anyone not want an omnipotent government? They must be Stalinists!” Funny how the ‘rats try to ascribe ideologies to conservatives that are more closely tied to their own.
