In fact, it is intellectually dishonest to say that science “proves” anything. More accurately, science can only disprove or fail to disprove.

Given that the Copernican theory was accepted teaching by Catholic scholars, and that Copernicus was a Catholic monk to begin with, the story that the church was trying to suppress Galileo's support for heliocentrism is silly on its face. The reality was that the church had asked Galileo to retract his published assertion that heliocentrism was scientifically proven, which it certainly wasn't - scientific instrumentation simply hadn't yet been invented that could generate such proof. It was more Galileo's mean spirited parody of the pope in his book that got him "detained," in the papal mansion. Think of it as a case of early church discipline, with room service.

What is funny is that I was actually recently considering writing a similar post comparing the misconceptions of dropping two differently weighted objects and AGW. I'm glad I didn't, because it would have looked pale and pathetic next to this masterpiece.

You arguments are very well thought out and presented, which of course means that the left can't and won't pay any attention to them.

Consensus sets the burden of proof. The greater the consensus on a particular idea, the greater is the burden on a contrary or alternate idea to dislodge it.

But the mere fact of consensus, no matter how universal and firm, should never be used to refute evidence.

See The Inescapable Logic of Global Warming.

Oh, and recommended.

He won the ideological Nobel Prize, the one that rewards collectivist and progressive ideologues who work towards the implementation of a worldwide totalitarian state. You still have to do real science to win a scientific Nobel Prize, though I'm sure the ideologues within the Academy would change that if they could.

This is the best piece of yours I've read yet. Awesome!
