The median household in the US makes somewhere around $50K. When currently unemployed people get jobs they will make less, most likely. I think that far more than half of employed Americans will be dumped on the public option, and with some state laws that prevent companies from having different insurance plans for different employees, even more than half will be dumped.

there are a lot on the left who are designing these plans who consider that to be a feature and not a bug. Remember, the goal of the left is to overwhelm the system by moving people onto the government dole. Only then can they collapse our current system under the financial weight and replace it with their vision of Utopia.

In a pay or play system, there are a lot of employers that will choose to pay since it will "cost" them far less.

the surcharge goes up. At what point will it no longer look attractive to them, do you think?

the government will never kill a bad program. Instead they'll just claim they need more money to pour into the gaping hole of a problem. Once that surcharge reaches, and possibly surpasses the upper end, then what?
