In the belly of the beast…

Madison, WI

There is no point to this entry today. Just a few observations:

Yesterday, I was in Madison, WI, visiting Capital Square. There is a weekly Farmer’s Market there that attracts very large, loyal crowds every Saturday. It was Obamamania central. There were college kids on every corner handing out flyers promising to pay $100/day working for “Advancing Wisconsin”, $475 if you work November 1 – 4th. The largest headlines on the flyer was “Get Paid” “HELP ELECT” “BARACK OBAMA.” They said they were paying people to knock on doors and drive Obama supporters to the polls.

The flyer also said “Advancing Wisconsin” is a qualified nonprofit corporation, and not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee. At their website here it says: In addition to these educational and advocacy activities, Advancing Wisconsin directly sponsors independent expenditure communications to the general public that expressly advocate for a candidate’s election or defeat. These communications are regulated under 11 C.F.R. § 114.10 and subject to certain disclosure requirements under state and federal campaign finance law. As a qualified nonprofit corporation (also known as an “MCFL” organization), Advancing Wisconsin only receives funds from individual donors and is not required to establish a PAC to sponsor these communications.

They have offices in Milwaukee (headquarters), Madison, Green Bay, Eau Claire, Wausau and La Crosse, mostly college towns, and additional jobs in Beloit, Janesville, and Stevens Point.

Middle Class Welfare

Enticing the middle class with cookies...

If Obama is elected, despite what the press says it is still an “if”, and his promises are turned into policy, there will be no turning back. You can’t unring a bell. The “Middle Class” will continue to demand “something for nothing” and our economy will continue to erode. Personal responsibility and diligence and the burning desire to work hard, take risks and succeed will be quashed by entitlements and being indebted and beholden to the government.

This is such an important election.

The phrase: An apple doesn’t fall far from the tree…

is applied most often to someone with obvious failings.

Just a little humor and fun diversion from the bleak economic news.

The phrase “An apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” is applied most often to someone with obvious failings, the saying asserts the problem was simply passed along from parent to child.

Pelosi’s Pravda

"Pelosi Promises Shield Law for Journalists"

From Condi Nast’s Portfolio.com:

“…On the attempt to pass a shield law for journalists: ‘It as so many other things died in the Senate. It did so because the administration didn’t want it to go forward…. Freedom of expression, which is fundamental to our democracy, will not be deterred. Stay tuned. As soon as we have a new congress and a new president, we will have a new shield law.’…”

This is truly frightening but might explain why the MSM is not afraid to show their bias in this election.

Why are these guys working with the Obama campaign?

Borrowed from The Anchoress

The Anchoress (http://theanchoressonline.com/) asks two questions:

Why ARE these guys working so closely with the Obama campaign?

And why hasn’t the Bush administration perp-walked them the way they did the others?

They’re not bad questions.

Pardon my hyperbole...

This is my first diary entry so please be gentle, my thoughts are a bit scattered today.

“Feminism directly confronts the idea that one person or set of people [has] the right to impose definitions of reality on others,” ~ Liz Stanley and Sue Wise.
