Congressman Kennedy: No soup communion for you !
Congressman Patrick Kennedy (D-RI-1) Barred From Receiving Communion.
The nephew of former president John F. Kennedy, a US legislator, has been barred from receiving communion at his Catholic church due to his support for abortion rights, a newspaper reported on Sunday.
US Representative Patrick Kennedy, son of the late senator Edward Kennedy, was told of the move by Roman Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin, according to The Providence Journal newspaper in the US state of Rhode Island.
================
A call was placed to the late Senator Ted Kennedy for comment and answered by St. Peter’s administrative assistant, who offered the following: “The Senator is not here”, she then mumbled something about “downstairs” and disconnected the call.
Payback’s a serious beeee-yatch from up on high, isn’t it ?…….. and they’re still the Kennedy’s, thinking they’re owed everything solely because they’re the Kennedy’s.
Attention needs to be focused towards Congressman Patrick Kennedy’s sponsored legislation and/or his amendments to bills going forward. You can bet there will be some very interesting items included vis-a-vie the Catholic Church and religion in general – my guess goes to tax statutes.
If Bishop Tobin indulges in any earthly pleasures such as cigars, it would be my honor to send him a box of his favs.
Cheers !

IF the Catholic Church had been doing this since...
JadedByPolitics (Diary) Sunday, November 22nd at 9:17AM EST (link)the Kennedy’s started their ATTACK on America it would have had more of an impact however 50 years later and the LEFTIST’s are already in the door!

The_Gadfly (Diary) Sunday, November 22nd at 9:30AM EST (link)I’m not Catholic myself, but if you believe abortion is as much of a sin as the Catholic church says it is (I happen to be in agreement) it is not appropriate for the church to continue to let public promoters of that sin be members in good standing of their organization.
agree, however.....
jazzycmk (Diary) Sunday, November 22nd at 11:57AM EST (link)….Catholics at large are just as split on abortion rights as the general population. It’s about 50/50.
I am Catholic and during Mass a couple of years ago, he gave an impassioned homily about abortion and the pro-life cause. A number of women got up and walked out.
Sad really.

He is mindlessly spewing liberal talking points.
Unfortunately, he has both a magic name and a magic D after his name, so RI will re-elect him for ever. I don’t think the Catholic Church has enough pull to get him voted out.
Of course I didn’t think they had enough to keep gay marriage out of RI either, and they did.

SteveLA (Diary) Sunday, November 22nd at 1:57PM EST (link)Kenny,
I may have miss read you in the past, but for some reason I think you are Jewish, my apologies in advance if not so and I mean on offense by the question.
What is the equivalent step of exclusion from the sacraments of the Jewish faith for congregants that do not adhere to the teachings of the faith? I do realize that the question is open to the differences with the Jewish faith of Orthodox v Reformed (not sure I have that right). But this story is peaked by interest in how various religions imposed their views on their own congregations.
More a curiousness question than anything to do with the Kennedy Klan, hopefully no offense taken by the question.

".....the equivalent step of exclusion from the sacraments of the Jewish faith......"
Kenny Solomon (Diary) Sunday, November 22nd at 5:36PM EST (link)I could say “a Jewish Mother’s guilt” prevents any of that, but I don’t want to go the snarky route (even though I just did).
Offense ? Y’all gotta go a long way further than asking a simple question to offend me…….. Take away my Famous Grouse Gold Reserve, then yeah, I’d be a tad offended.
To answer your question………. It’s called “Cherem” (also can be spelled in phonetic English as “Herem”) and is basically the same thing as ex-communication. But the rules of engagement are total old-school…. back in the day when Charlton Heston parted the seas, even simply taking God’s name in vain just once got you sent packin’.
Believe it or not, Wikipedia has a pretty good writeup……. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherem
Hope that helped.
Cheers !
Hey thanks

Appreciate, never know when it comes to asking about people’s religious beliefs that you might be stepping on toes.
