UK – No More Anonymous Blogging.

http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/the_web/article6509677.ece

Thousands of bloggers who operate behind the cloak of anonymity have no right to keep their identities secret, the High Court ruled today.

How soon before it’s law here ?

You don’t seriously think for one second that President Jihad Sympathizer gives a rats arse about something as silly as The 1st Amendment applies to everyone, do you ?

I am not anonymous on the ‘net.  I don’t hide behind a simple pseudonym and no profile.  My signature is real.  I’m in South Florida – Broward County, City of Pembroke Pines.  Those who don’t like what I say and wish to offer dissenting views?  I will fight to my death for your right to do so.

I sincerely wish that those of differing opinions than mine (and those with differing opinions of everyone here at RedState) afford us the same “we got your back” steadfast principle.  However, I don’t think that likely in the least.

What I think will occur is an extremely dangerous to life and liberty situation within our own government and all across the spectrum of media that is presently building at a rapid pace.

Those on the left do not wish for any opposition whatsoever and they are quickly trying to crush it all…. and seem to no longer be attempting to cloak every aspect of their quest.

How does this have the brakes put on before escalation to the point of no return ?

The tipping point is coming….. the one thing that will set in motion something none of us thought we would see in our wildest imaginations….. A literal fight to save our rights, freedoms and liberties from being taken by our own countrymen.

What is the tipping point ?

…….When they came for the Jews, I did nothing, for I was not a Jew.

Cheers !

I Actually Don't Have Too Much of a Problem With This

IJB Tuesday, June 16th at 8:15PM EST (link)

Personally, anonymous internet posting has probably caused more problems than it’s solved. If everyone had to put their name to what they write, there’d be a lot less inane internet chatter. (Actually, there’d probably be less internet posting, *period*, esp. on political topics… and I’m not sure that’s a bad thing.)

Anyway, suffice it to say, that this is one of those issues that’s not cut-and-dried. There are good things about anonymous posting. But there are also many bad things about it…

A *lot* of us DO have a problem with it

Bill S (Diary) Tuesday, June 16th at 8:23PM EST (link)

I work with customers. Many of my customers probably would not care for the opinions I voice on the Redstate front page. Therefore, I do not post using my name. Furthermore, I don’t think Obambi would care for much of what I say either. Would he come personally to my door? No. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see the IRS auditors show up there in retaliation.

No, this is not good. Not good at all. But it’s all part of the Marxist-in-Chief’s grand plan.

“It’s such a fine line between stupid, and clever.” – David St. Hubbins

No... the first amendment is not contingent on identity.

randy streu (Diary) Tuesday, June 16th at 8:27PM EST (link)

Whether or not you personally have a problem with it really isn’t the issue. This isn’t a matter of convenience; it’s a matter of freedom. Personally, even when I use a username, it’s more for ease of use than for anonymity — I usually post my full name anyway. However, in order for there to be truly free expression, we have to allow for people to remain anonymous if they so choose.

Or at least, I can’t think of a compelling reason why THE GOVERNMENT should regulate such a thing. I can think of many why they shouldn’t.

Lucky for You, I'm Pretty Sure The SCOTUS Agrees With You

But my ultimate point is that this issue is not so cut-and-dried. There are good things about anonymous speech. But there are also bad things about it.

The issue isn't about whether good or bad things can happen.

randy streu (Diary) Tuesday, June 16th at 9:12PM EST (link)

It’s about freedom. People do bad things anonymously; stupid people let them. Person A has the right to say whatever, Person B has the right to either believe it like an idiot or think for himself.

You seem to suggest that freedom ought to be outcome-based.

Good or bad

Vegas_Rick (Diary) Wednesday, June 17th at 4:45PM EST (link)

anonymous speech has been a right of the opposition since the beginning. Just another right you’re willing to concede?

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘press on’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” Calvin Coolidge.

Why not try everything that is in 1984...

DONTREADONME (Diary) Tuesday, June 16th at 8:48PM EST (link)

Won’t be long now before this is coming to a neighborhood near you in the United States. Heh, we are going to try Britian care why not this. Your name is only relevant to posting when you are brougth up on charges of libel, defamation or slander then I think your name might be relevant otherwise not necessary.

I have another problem

GregInFla (Diary) Tuesday, June 16th at 9:09PM EST (link)

Yes, I have a problem with the Brit’s decision. But there is a greater problem: why do people believe everything they read? Anonymous postings mean that the author really has no credible reputation to use to back up his writing. If some nameless faceless person says something, what is its worth?

Can you imagine if this applied to online reviews at online stores?

This situation is not so clear cut...

A policeman blogging about information he gathered in his duties may very well be breaking the law. No freedom is absolute. I realize that this is a slippery slope, expecially in an increasingly totalitarian state,

Here is a case that I find more troubling:

Indeed a disturbing turn of events...........

……..Especially in light of the fact of my memory is serving correct that Mr. Eric Holder, Attorney General of The United States is not exactly a fan of The Sixth Amendment.

http://blog.heritage.org/2009/01/06/eric-holders-sixth-amendment-problem

I’m of the mind Mr. Holder may not be enamored of The First, Fourth and Fifth Amendments as well.

They have to go after the 6th Amendment

When you’ve got an enemies list the size of theirs, and with 40% of the Country identifying themselves as Conservative, naturally they’ll want to be able to move quickly.

Have your show trial verdict in 30 minutes, or it’s free. Guaranteed.

The Voting Box May Very Well Be Next

OccamsRazor (Diary) Wednesday, June 17th at 1:38AM EST (link)

Indeed.

55555 !

Kenny Solomon (Diary) Wednesday, June 17th at 1:57AM EST (link)

Hell, to a certain degree, the voting box WAS “next” back in November ’08.

I wonder how many Republicans and NPA’s will have ID demanded of them at the 2010 elections……. that is, if there even are elections held in 2010.

I’m also wondering what the new Census forms will include as questions………..

1a. How many firearms have you purchased, legally or illegally, to assist in overthrowing the current sitting government ?

1b. How many rooms full of ammunition are in your home ?

2. As a Republican, how many pieces of paper have you littered in hopes of putting the final screws to our fragile planet’s ecosystem ?

3. What model of SUV do you own and how many innocent left-handed moon-staring, six-toed, cloned hybrid TerDuckEns have been run over by each vehicle?

The list goes on………..

Ya know, I was trying to be funny with the snarkified commentary above. but after reading through for a spell-check, I can actually see the sonsab left asking these questions as worded.

cheers !

I'm Glad You Expanded....

Because I wanted too as well. Democracy today appears to be used as a _tool_ by the elite against it’s own citizens. It’s become an illusion of participation. Period.

It’s analgous to the media in this country. Our media was founded among the basic principle of pure reporting to counter Pravda-style crap. Although, I think by the next election the gig will be up, the media today sits under the guise of being fair. Obviosuly, this isn’t true. At one time, if a reporter were caught in an opinion, they’d be castigated-not today, instead they are rewarded.

At least in France, for example, one knows Le Monde is declared Liberal and the National Front is Right. There’s no dangerous deception, no hypocrasy.

I Agree. It’s tough to come to the conclusion about the country I love so much, that it’s very fabric is being unraveled at an almost exponential pace-that our Democracratic Republic is now also an illusion.

Just look at California

Kyle-MI (Diary) Wednesday, June 17th at 2:55PM EST (link)

Look what happened to people who gave money to preserving traditional marriage. Does anyone seriously think that these type of thugs won’t do internet searches for anyone who posts a disagreement with their views. Next time they will turn up the heat before the vote instead of after it.

They did those lookups in Cali

GregInFla (Diary) Wednesday, June 17th at 11:50PM EST (link)

I read about (and saw on TV) a while back a restaurant owner who contributed money in favor of Prop 8. And the LGBT (Pride) folks found out from the donor list, and protested at the restaurant and he/she had to close the restaurant. I wish I could find a link. This is just plain evil.

Hey, Greginfla.

This might be what you’re looking for. I couldn’t find anything that says the restaurant closed, but I did find something that said the manager who contributed the money resigned.

The dangers of posting

Kyle-MI (Diary) Wednesday, June 17th at 2:59PM EST (link)

Some of us who post are employed by organizations who do not look favorably on conservative views. If they want to fire you, they can always find an excuse.
