it still does not mean we should sit here and watch the world come apart at the seams. I can not believe how right we were about this guy and his cohorts. Zero may be on the level of Chamberlain with the allowing of North Korea and Iran to get the Bomb. Iran with the bomb puts our troops in Iraq at great risk. Iran could take out a large portion of the United States’ troops with one well placed bomb in Iraq. Not mention that one Nuclear armed missile from North Korea could take out 30,000 of our troops stationed around the DMZ in South Korea.

I do not know how many of my fellow redstaters find as much alarm as I do now that North Korea has probably sucessfully tested a >20 kTon atomic weapon. This is not like Pakistan testing a nuke after the sucessful test of India with a nuke. At least there was some sense of balance with those two, but we are left with unpreditable powers with nuclear weapons one of a radical islam and the other of a rogue communist. The world has just become a most dangerous place for everyone. Way to go Zerobama.

Barack Obama and I see the role of the federal government in our lives in fundamentally different ways and I certainly didn’t vote for him. But politics aside, he seems like a decent enough guy and I just can’t wrap my head around the hatred some of the posters here have for him.

I read stuff like this:

“By the way, on a semi-related subject, the thought of ”him” laying a wreath at ‘The Tomb’ today has been too much for me to take. I can’t watch any news on TV and won’t look at any newspapers tomorrow”

And it just seems so …. bizarre to me.

On the one hand, I have no issues with his performing his elected duties as President and Commander in Chief. I will at least look at his appointees rather than reflexively saying bad. He has occasionally (for whatever motivation) gotten things right.

On the other hand, I can’t agree with your characterization of him as a “decent enough guy”. It’s a visceral thing that goes back even before he was elected – but he does make my flesh crawl, especially his unscripted moments and the repeat lack of “class” that he shows. Plus he propensity to blame others than to take responsibility – and to take credit that is not due him.

What will evoke my disdain and gets scary is his demagoguing and thuggery, as seen in the AIG executives and the Chrysler creditors actions, and more indirectly in the muscling in that his Treasury officials are doing with private companies. History shows that unchecked power of this sort corrupts and escalates, leading to a very bad end.

And I do see escalating ill behavior.

I cannot say he has gotten it right. He has been doing 180s (from his promises) almost from the gitgo. I think his record on nominees with tax cheat type issues is running about 80%. It appears the Navy had to beg for his approval to rescue Captain Phillips and it appears from accounts that the ROEs were in play well before he was finally freed. This was a relatively minor incident – unless your name is Richard Phillips. I do not think he has the capacity to make the right decision about much of anything – due primarily to his worldview and/or his novice approach.

Well folks, “Again” is now. But, what the heck, American jews voted for the guy, I guess they have it coming.

I can add so much to this, but I’m not going to.

In remarks to reporters at the State Department, Clinton said President Barack Obama had made clear last week during talks at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that stopping settlements is a key part of moving toward a deal establishing a Palestinian state alongside Israel.

“He wants to see a stop to settlements — not some settlements, not outposts, not ‘natural growth’ exceptions,” Clinton said, referring in the last case to population growth on existing Israeli settlements in the West Bank from births and from allowances for adult offspring of settlers to buy homes near their parents.

“We think it is in the best interests (of the peace process) that settlement expansion cease,” Clinton added, with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit at her side. “That is our position. That is what we have communicated very clearly. … And we intend to press that point.”

I have feared the left/marxist my entire life. I served in the USAF for 20 years and never could get my head around all the stupidity of the political class. They continually made excuses for tyrants out to destroy the US and the world. Why did they do that? Perhaps the urge to get along at all cost.

Had we chosen to stand up in a decisive manner, this would not be our present situation. We didn’t, so here we are.

What is it about humanity that causes many to feel it is better to surrender then to fight? Jews seem to suffer even more from this mental break down.

They refuse to stand by Isreal and still get 80% of the Jewish vote.

They stand against the values (life, marriage, family) of Hispanics and still get 70% of the Hispanic vote.

They sympathize with and coddle up to terrorists who want to kill all homosexuals and still get virtually all of the gay vote.

I only pray that one day these “groups” will wake up and realize who really has their best interests at heart.
