Hi:
1. January 28 2009 had a combined 85 pieces of legislation officially introduced to The 111th Congress. These 85 are listed here with Legislation number, Title, Sponsor and Number of Co-Sponsors.
2. The more co-sponsors a piece of legislation has attached, the more likely it is to come up for vote in the full House and/or Senate, or in the case of legislation as any form of Resolution, be voted upon via voice vote immediately after introduction.
3. Thomas.gov is usually 12-24 hours lagged for listings and apparently does not start entering data until after nightly adjournment – Resolutions, Bills, Amendments and links to the full text of each piece of legislation as per official Congressional documents from the Thomas website and other sources like the GPO. Hence the listing below of yesterday’s legislation (today’s is not yet available.).
As of this posting, the following totals of legislation in the form of Bills, Amendments and Resolutions, have been officially introduced to The 111th Congress:
House Concurrent Resolutions – 35
House Resolutions – 101
House Joint Resolutions – 19
House Bills – 785
House Amendments – 22
Senate Concurrent Resolutions – 3
Senate Resolutions – 25
Senate Joint Resolutions – 6
Senate Bills – 342
Total: 1,338 pieces of legislation for The 111th Congress, seated 6 January 2009 (28 days, including weekends). An average of just under 48 pieces of legislation per day since Congress was seated.
Cheers !

Kalyphornya - State mandate for gas stations to update already 'green' pumps.
Kenny Solomon (Diary) Thursday, January 29th at 9:31PM EST (link)Newly updated vapor-return pump-handles and hoses are now law in California for gas stations.
Owners must immediately buy ‘em and have ‘em installed….. with government issued permits and government inspections of course….. or you can’t sell even one gallon of petrol.
Mandate could force gas stations out of business
Aaaaaahnolt, vaddya doink to shmahll bidness ?
California’s tax receipt shortage will get even greater with business going away and not sending in the proper percentages of revenue, which will result in services going away and therefore more business going away because people can’t afford anything anymore and that’ll mean less tax revenue coming in and……….
Get the picture?……… Good………. So stop it !
Enough environmental lunacy legislation and mandates. Enough pandering to every organization saying that they represent some special interest group. Enough of all this insanity or you won’t have a State left by the end of the Summer.
Cheers !
H.R.738, H.R.748, H.R.751
Xasteius (Diary) Thursday, January 29th at 11:25PM EST (link)Comment of HR 738 and 748: Could this be aimed at creating the National Civilian Defense Force that Obama mentioned during his campaign?
HR 751: Glad to see this at the national level. The Idaho House unanimously rejected their pay raise this year (link). Governor Otter would reject his pay raise but he can’t; he is introducing a law to change that.
As my piano teacher once said, “What a novel idea!”
Don’t leave the party, hijack it back!
The only poll that counts is the one at the ballot box.
I don’t want to be Reagan. I want to be a Chance/Soros hybrid.
