My grandparents were farmers in Kansas.
I remember being about 7 and driving into
town with my grandfather and we would pass this
strange site. I asked "What is that". He said it was
were the military kept some missiles in case we
were attacked. And then he said. "I love living near
them because if we are attacked, we would be the first
to know and the first to go."

When people say "we need the world to like us again", that is code for throwing Israel under the bus. The world is currently united, including Europe, through the International Non-Governmental Agencies (INGOs, get used to that abbreviation, you will be seeing it a lot during the next 4 years), in their belief that Israel is the source of all evil in the world.

All international condemnation, such as human rights abuses, target Israel is the number 1 culprit. Only US objections stand between the world and the vilification of the Jewish state. Under Obama, you will see those objection disappear, because it will be the price for "International Harmony", and can be accomplished under the radar. No one pays attention to what happens at the UN, so the price will be paid in Israeli blood without being noticed by the majority of the American Jewish community.

Bernard Lewis makes the point that you can be anti-Jewish as distinct from an anti-Semite. The former is the traditional Arab stance that is simply "fear of the other" well established in Islamic tradition. Anti-Semitism is a purely European construct that assigns to Jews a specific moral taint of evil. Anti-Semitism has now crept into the Islamic world, and permeates the UN bureaucracies.
