Anyone pro-gun who voted for Obama probably shouldn’t be considered mentally competent to own one.

Honestly, though, I wonder how the Heller decision would play in an attempt to reinstate the “assault weapon” ban from the 1994 Crime Bill? The recognition of RKBA as an individual right would seem to argue against whole classes of firearms being bannd.

In 2006 after the Democrats took control of Congress, it took less than a month for the gun-grabbers in Massachusetts to mobilize and start working on even more draconian and wrongheaded legislation with their view firmly fixed on the 2008 elections.

Now they are here, and control both branches. I can reasonably expect an all-out assault on the 2nd Amendment on all of the fronts the NRA-ILA mentions and then a few more.

I consider an attempt to undermine Tiahrt and to reinstate the federal AWB the two most likely first objectives, and I expect them to be instituted quickly, during the “honeymoon” period of the Obama administration.

It remains to be seen if the votes to pass the newer, much more draconian version of the AWB exist in the Senate, but they probably exist in the House.

The only thing that is going to prevent that outcome is preparation, organization and a swift and proactive campaign against it. We’re going to need every member of the NRA in every state in this country ready to get on the phones and in the mail to their legislators the moment the legislation appears.

Get ready to move on this because I’m going to have a lot more in the coming months about how you can help.

I thought I read somewhere (probably another RedState post) that for the Democrats a more effective way to tackle the 2nd Amemndment is through the taxation process.

Banning guns is going to be visible, evoke ire of many, many Americans and, at the end of the day, may not get past the Supremes (in the Court’s current form).

A more effect (call it stealth) way would be to impose a surcharge or additional tax on the purchase of ammo. Democrats will chip away at this by first allowing hunters who purchase shot a pass and focus on non-hunting ammo.

Forewarned is forearmed (no pun intended).

I think this is something you can do to help out in the short term. The NRA can make life difficult for Blue Dogs.

So how did those unconstitutional gun bans work out for Washington, DC anyway? One would think that is an excellent case study for gun restrictions.

This is why several States voted to prevent the government from ordering firearms to be turned over. Not the same thing as a ban on certain purchases but at least there is a firewall up to prevent it. Also, because the Supreme Court has upheld gun ownership as an individual right and not exclusively tied to a state militia, we have the chance to really win on this issue in the long run.

How this plays out?

1) Dear Leader supports passage of a tougher Brady Bill and Assault Weapons Band.

2) More liberal groups & cities pass harsher push/enforce harsher legislation.

3) NRA and other gun rights groups file federal lawsuits that fast track to the SCOTUS (they ruled on the issue, state courts can’t touch it).

4) SCOTUS issues a very sharp rebuking of the Congress and then President in the form of is ruling.

This is isn’t something we give up on here.

This:

“Repeal the Tiahrt Amendment.” The amendment–endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police–prohibits the release of federal firearm tracing information to anyone other than a law enforcement agency conducting a bona fide criminal investigation. Anti-gun activists oppose the restriction, because it prevents them from obtaining tracing information and using it in frivolous lawsuits against law-abiding firearm manufacturers. Their lawsuits seek to obtain huge financial judgments against firearm manufacturers when a criminal uses a gun to inflict harm, even though the manufacturers have complied with all applicable laws.

Is the big one (from the linked site). They can shut down manufacturing permanently with a series of class action lawsuits. Even if the manufacturers win, they can’t afford the legal bills. And it can be stealthy. Barack and his cohorts can just brush off criticisms with, “We believe in the American justice system and believe that we shouldn’t restrict citizen access to the courts.” Or some such blather.

This is real trouble guys.

Recommended. I believe they will attempt to attack the 2nd amendment, & that will wake up many from lethargy. The AWB energized many people & we got the results of 1994. I believe the NRA & other organizations will be proactive & move quickly to mobilize opposition to any new 2nd amendment restrictions.

The run is on and it’s is intense. Normally they will have anywhere between 10-15 AR type rifles, today, NONE.

I’m not one to believe hysteria, but it sure does seem like we are moving down a path opposite from the ideals that founded this nation.

I was about to review the agenda item on B. Hussein’s gun policy at Change.gov. The NRA has excerpts from it on their website. So, I go to the Chosen One’s site, look up his agenda page, and it tells me that the requested page cannot be found.

Furthermore, when I searched for “gun,” no results came up.

Oh well. Hope and change are all the sheeple need. Couldn’t those pesky details just dry up and, blow away?

Georgia congressman warns of Obama dictatorship

I’d like to shake that man’s hand.

Let’s see how fast the good Congressman is taken down in flames by the ‘bots.

…so-called “assault weapons” ban, something like two million such firearms were manufactured or imported and put into the hands of the public, most of whom would have been uninterested in owning them if not for the coming ban.

How many more “assault weapons” will be sold this time on the threat of another ban?

If BHO really wanted to reduce gun ownership, he’d shut up about banning and “controlling” them. The demand is fueled by the impending threat.

Either he stays true to his words that the 2nd Amendment is an individual right or he’s a liar. The gun grabbers need to know that violating the 2nd Amendment will create massive push-back, and that they’re opposing what Obama said in some of his speeches if they even try.

Also, remember, 95% of Americans are going to see a tax cut under Obama, right? Well, far more than 5% of Americans own guns so that should rule out any tax increase on guns or ammunition.

I did not write this. This diary is about the right of a man to defend himself and his family. Obama has not only pledged to ban so called assault rifles, he also says he wants a national ban on concealed weapons.

Millions of Americans have concealed handgun permits. Many are women who are being stalked or just want to be able to defend their precious lives. I am saddened this diary shot up so quickly and then fell so fast. Someone once said “the Second Amendment preserves all others”.

I don’t care if you are a gun guy or not. We are conservatives here and believe in the Constitution and State’s rights. Obama has said he want’s to take away your right to defend yourself and your family. What is next, federal registration…confiscation….concentration camps? I have beena member here three years and no one thinks I am a radical. But we have never faced these types of threats. Clinton, as much as he was hated, never dared tried to overrule state concealed weapons permits.

If we do not keep this diary up in the recco section, I just don’t know what I will be thinking of this place, a place I consider a home on the internet. If they divide us over rights we don’t particularly care about, sooner or later they will get to a right you do care about.

You might say “but I am not from Virginia”. But this organization is considered the best state gun rights org. in the nation, ask any other state gun org and they will tell you. VCDL has many non Virginian members and has lead many national efforts such as the fight for 2A rights in National Parks. BTW, many people commute on highways run by the National Park Service, they don’t even know they are gun free zones by law.

VCDL has lead this effort to change the law for 5 years, which was finally joined by groups representing over 1 million people accross the nation These groups signed on to VCDL’s legal petition for ruling fowarded to the Department of the Interior. The rule change is finally supposed to happen before Bush leaves office, this is IF the left does not stop it.

And in case you wondered, Bush was no friend of gun rights, but Obama is a clear and present danger to our most sacred Constitutional right.
