For far too long conservatives and most Republicans have been labeled “extreme” even though most of their views are in the American mainstream. Now that the political class has overreached to the point it is opposed by two-thirds of the electorate, it is time to point out who is on the fringe and who is not. I believe the collective nervous breakdown the Democratic Party has experienced over the Ground Zero mosque is two-fold: their fringe extremism is undeniable, and there are too many media outlets these days for that reality to remain bottled up. This has been true from Obamacare until now, and the Left has gone beserk.

You are right that this cuts across party and ideological lines to a large degree (think CIR), but at least in the last 20 months it has been a phenomenon largely confined to Democrats and the Left.

It makes the very needed backlash much more likely if they are detached. Don’t wake them up to their mistakes, they’ll only try to hide them instead of fixing the mess they’ve made.

That is the only good thing Obama has done. His radicalism cannot be hidden, but the strength of ACORN and other unions means we have to work even harder to cover the 12% of the vote that will be cast Nov 2 by corruption. Let’s all keep up the effort and educate our family, friends and neighbors. Thank you Erick and everyone that is help to right our ship.

They were able to defeat Goldwater as an “extremist” and they tried it on Reagan, too. Even those Republicans they dared not smear with it were tainted by “the extreme elements” in the party.

After a while, like the “racism!” answer to everything, it gets older than a little shepherd boy crying “Wolf!” until finally no one comes.

Also, every time they manage to win it is either because of widespread anger at Republicans or that they have masqueraded as fiscally-responsible moderates, but then they revert to form and govern like socialists. Clinton was only able to win a second term because the GOP won Congress in 1994 and restrained him.

Let’s hope Obama can’t pull the same trick.

Nationally, we conservatives have sufficient numbers to take over the Republican Party. We have the “warm bodies.” Now, we just need the warm bodies to get their fannies to their local GOP committee meetings. What’s really lacking is the knowledge of the warm bodies about how important it is that they get involved in the real ball game of politics at the grass roots level — at their local GOP committee meetings. We don’t have enough conservatives with “big microphones” to explain this to the grass roots conservatives who listen, day after day, to those with the big microphones, about what they really, really, really ought to do with a couple of hours of their time every month. I hope you’ll “harp” on this. I have. And I’ll continue to “harp.”

It has been clear to me, since ’72, that the biggest problem in politics has been the folks ‘behind the curtain’. I was a big proponent during my Navy service (’80 to ’89) of pulling a “Reagan”, and firing everyone who worked in D. C.

The entrenched ‘entitlement class’ has been pulling the strings for decades IMHO, it’s beyond time that the masses have to put them straight.

These ‘bubble people’ exist in a hermetically sealed environment, created so that they do not run the risk of infection by traditional, middle-class values. They read nothing that does not comport with their preconceived notions. They talk with no one whose ideas do not reinforce their preconceived notions. They produce nothing that will not meet with the approval of their peers. By word and deed, they conform to the Ruling Class Orthodoxy. They think of themselves as open-minded and tolerant, when in fact they are nothing but upper-class sheeple.

Thanks to Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of the Progressive Cabal, the common folk are beginning to realize that, not only do their elected leaders hold them, their lifestyles, their values, and their attitudes in extreme contempt; they also are willing to do everything in their power to destroy the foundation on which those lifestyles, values, and attitudes are built.

Two different worldviews are now engaged in a life-or-death battle for supremecy. If the Ruling Class wins, America will become a has-been internationsl power, ala France. If the common people, who are now represented by the Tea Party Movement, manage to pull out a victory, then the America will once again be the Shining City on the Hill.

It’s nice to see that maybe the party is starting to recognize that as well. If only they could get RINO’s like Lindsay Graham to shut up.
