logus (Diary) Monday, August 9th at 6:49AM EST (link)Or rather a quick slideshow listing several more things… his vacations, then an allusion to surfing, which is what came to mind when I saw your title. There were two docu. movies that came out years ago called “Endless Summer 1 & 2″ if memory serves, about some surfers looking to surf around the world, not wanting to stop. They had 5 more seconds available for the ad, no?
The NRSC and other GOP groups, and more importantly non-GOP groups need to focus on character, or rather the lack thereof in candidates. Character does count, and it’s obvious Obama is one, but doesn’t have it.
I do like seeing the blurb of Obama campaigning with/for Robin Carnahan. Heh, as November gets closer, she’s going to try and shake him more and more from her campaign as possible. And her brother Russ has got to be thinking that his blood, political dynasticism, and pandering to Democrat bigwigs is going to hurt him all the more in his bid for re-election in MO3! Ha!

scm15010 Monday, August 9th at 7:00AM EST (link)I think they are on the right track but you need to be more BLUNT and hit harder! I felt NOTHING watching this. There is so much that is on video that screams dereliction of duty, as well as abuse of office… this ain’t it! You also need to go after Queen Michele in a video. Three months guys, you can’t make the same mistake McCain did, we are in unusual times and the media [not even Fox] are going to help you with this.

scm15010 Monday, August 9th at 8:19AM EST (link)I totally disagree! She is the 1st lady and in times where he said “everyone is going to have to sacrifice” and he tells us we can’t make what we deserve to earn [not just AIG], they are using OUR money, with his wife spending like she is royalty. She has someone secretly accepting clothes from designers on her behalf, but this Spain trip is over the top! Americans are losing jobs because of his policies and yet they have extravagant affairs for all the wrong leaders while snubbing our allies. His children are off limits but not his wife. We also need to stop reacting to every “shame on you” the media and dems toss at repubs. They had NO limits not even Bush’s daughters, so MAN UP, this is war for the soul of this country.
Facts vs media play....
Brian Hibbert (Diary) Monday, August 9th at 8:40AM EST (link)You are of course factually correct, but that won’t stop the constant “they can’t attack ME so they’re going after my wife!” drumbeat that Obama would start.
I have no objection to bloggers and other media going after Michelle’s queenly high living (I may even put a few tweets out myself), but the RNC needs to go after Obama on policy.
You need to learn that different rules apply to Republicans and Democrats when it comes to press coverage. We can use FAR milder tactics and will still be excoriated for it. This is partly because the public actually EXPECTS better behavior from Republicans, but it’s also due to a fair amount of editorial bias.
Again, the RNC and other official Republican organizations must keep their hands off the family (even the dog). Fortunately there’s enough incompetence in this administration that we don’t NEED to attack the family.

mriggio (Diary) Monday, August 9th at 8:57AM EST (link)and they hit that pretty well. Now we need another, with the theme and song of V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N, showing all their holidays, trips and so forth, but not Michelle explicitly. You know, since a huge percentage of the electorate isn’t vacationing this year, their extravagance might hit home nicely. Brian’s right, with the media bias, Big O would leap on the unfairness of attacking his Mrs, deserved or not, and would end up fracturing our side, with some of our squishes apologizing and condemning the attack. The Michelle thing needs to continue to be hit by other members of the VRWC, like us!

scm15010 Monday, August 9th at 8:49AM EST (link)Neil, Have given in the past and worked my tail off for you guys, but I will not again until I see your members start fighting for the American people and not their cush jobs! You need to control your members, who do not see how they are being used by these democrats to prop up their legislation, and the destruction of this country. Allowing Kagan to be confirmed was irresponsible to say the least, not to mention Bills that should never have made it to the floor! You are not the country’s Hound dogs, drooling and bending over for pats on the head and taking verbal beatings from the dems without countering their vicious arguments. You are supposed to fight for the Constitution and people who elected you! I will spend my time and money on those that deserve it.

scm15010 Monday, August 9th at 10:01AM EST (link)I didn’t say going after her was fighting for the republic. I just totally disagree that we should be hands off. Throwing in visual images of her that leave an imprint in this video will deliver without saying a word about her.
As for the republic people need to understand that this is Sales 101, you are selling candidates and the party. I watched someone this weekend on Fox, up against some slimy dem rep from FL [I think]. Our guy just sat there while he was pummeled, most of which was untrue. They have their talking points and if people are going to be out there representing conservatives they need to be ready w/facts! They need to KNOW what those talking points are and be READY with comebacks and FACTS, otherwise those distortions become sealed in voters brains. When you don’t counter, people don’t think wow, republicans are soooo nice and polite! They THINK whatever the dominate impression was they received from the debate. That silence on our end is taken as an omission of guilt! You don’t need to be an ass, just ready with facts and spirited in delivering, OR you will lose elections you could have won. That is sales and conservative have been brainwashed into submissive tail-tuckers.
uhhh, ok

scm15010 Monday, August 9th at 10:30PM EST (link)I don’t dislike you guys at all and Neil sorry for the rant at you, I thought you were fundraising for the NRCC. I am FRUSTRATED by the Lindsay Grahams, and peoples inability to articulate a strategy for the mud that is slung by dems. I am just now, after all this time, hearing republicans point out that the budget writing dems controlled the House when the economy went south. Go look at the yearly economic reports from 2002 thru 2006.
When Kerry was running for President but still lagging in polls, Hillary, Bill, McAuliffe and the whole group of dems running had a meet up and press conference. They stated that they had made a pac to not attack each other, but pound the President. At that moment in time Bush still was remarkably high in polls and Americans said in polls that they thought the country was going in the right direction and felt good with where they were economically. Attack Bush they did, and with not another thing changing, two weeks later, ALL the indicators had DROPPED. Not one person on the right caught this, nor defended Bush’s record at that point, they just became defensive, [where you never want to be]. Everyone covered their own tails and started attacking him as well, like sock puppets of the left! It was INCREDIBLE to watch! Democrats said key members of his cabinet needed to go and all the talking heads agreed, like good little sock puppets,. The dems demanded that dem friendly replacement be installed and the republicans were all over it. The the information started leaking like a sieve, but where were the republicans in congress when secrets were flowing? Hearings? Nope! Pelosi and crew goes to meet with our enemies and what did republicans do? Nada! THIS is why conservatives do not have any faith in our members and want them out too! Don’t believe me? Poll them..
Now we have the opportunity to recover all that has been lost and the leadership is still playing defense and talking heads are clueless [Andrea Tantaros, M Bachman, and Michelle Malkin are exceptions]. Blogs like this and several others are the only reason we have a message to beat them back with – but it’s not enough!

Obamageddon as seen from a room with a View
tomkinney (Diary) Monday, August 9th at 11:20AM EST (link)There have only been a handful of times when Obama has come across as a regular person. One was during a baseball broadcast from in the booth with a pair of well-known announcers whose names escape me at the moment, and on The View as advertised above. I only saw clips from his View appearance and then only on other shows, being allergic in extremis to the henhouse chatter and pointless patter of this silly show, but in those moments what I saw was Obama speaking almost like a normal person; not in high rhetorical dudgeon, not in high-school-debate-club-star oratory mode, not in elevated, professorial mode.
It’s refreshing to see him come alive and for a precious few moments I liked the guy and was able to see him as a more-or-less familiar type of American, not as some kind of freaky specimen raised in a petri dish in the bowels of the lab of some leftist think tank. (I’ve never worried about him being born out of country; off earth, perhaps or maybe even out of our solar system.)
But even before the end of his endless campaign’s earlier moments (i.e., pre-election ’08), I lfound myself constitutionally unable to listen to his soaring, roaring, and oh-so-empty orations. When O’Blivion is in oratory mode, it’s time to invoke the remote-control option. (Pardon the snarky nicknames, but simply if embarrassingly said, it amuses me in these unamusing times. It’s also an entrenched midwestern habit, that of twisting peoples names for the heck of it, friends and foes alike. No harm intended.)
My point: Obama should relax a little and let his inner-human roam free, or at least freer. But I’m afraid it’s too late and has always been so. He’s locked into the limitations of a pre-existing disorder, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, in his case, NPD-lite. This is my (very) unprofessional opinion, salted with an excess of snark (it must be added): O’s alleged NPD (lite) is probably just a little this side of a firm diagnosis. Regardless, NPD–being one of the 11 subtypes (in DSM IV anyway, haven’t seen the most recent DSM update) of sociopathic diagnoses–has no sure cure. A sociopath, again as of DSM IV, has indeed been determined to have a form of mental disease, but one that is considered incurable and as such does not yield itself to a plea of no guilty by reason by mental disease or defect in court. Nor is it considered treatable. (In all seriousness, an NPD diagnosis here functions better as a metaphor for O’s odd set of behaviors than as an reality.)
O’s borderline NPD apparently does not accommodate many moments of the kind of ordinariness the rest of us are forced to tread water in throughout all of our days, but an earth-based Obama was evidenced, however briefly, on The View. If I was one of his advisors, I’d suggest that he go with this undernourished human side of his and leave his more commonly exhibited professor personality on the sidelines. It would, marginally, help his polls but not save his presidency.
BTW, Obama’s seeming inability to stop “shooting down” (a phrase borrowed from Pat Buchanan) at his perceived foes, like Limbaugh, gives additional heft to the (specious) notion that he “suffers” from NPD, as he is drawn like a moth to a flame to dispute any criticism levelled at him, regardless of its source and regardless of how bad it makes him look. By Buchanan’s definition, shooting down is no different than bullying and as we all know, the bully pulpit wasn’t intended for the wholesale denigration of Americans of lesser status than the person wielding it.
