As you know, Utah is having its caucuses next week. People will be picked as delegates to go to the State Convention. At the convention, if Bennett cannot get 60% of the delegates to support him, he will either be defeated at the convention or be forced into a runoff.
Bennett’s campaign is encouraging its supporters to show up at the caucuses and lie as best they can to become delegates to the convention.
Right now there is a heavy anti-Bennett bias even within the official Utah Republican Party. Having Bennett’s supporters come in and claim to be wholly undecided or hostile to Bennett could help send his brigade to the convention to protect him.
Desperate men do desperate things.
We have the video of Senator Bennett’s son encouraging supporters to hide their allegiance to the senator to increase their chances of becoming a delegate. Watch it and decide for yourself.

Wow, Bennett is a lying hack. How unfortunate.

Bob Bennett spend $2M for what?
arc_ut (Diary) Thursday, March 18th at 2:40PM EST (link)Bennett: I guess the $2 million and the last year didn’t work
In March of 2009 Senator Bob Bennett was rated one of the ten most liberal Republicans in the Senate by Human Events based on the American Conservative Union Ratings for 2008.
Why Bennett spent $2 million to convince voters he is Conservative is beyond me?
I guess he is now going to start spending money saying he will save our money from being spent.
I believe that Cherilyn Eagar is the only one running who has supported and been active in fighting for conservative values for the last 30 years at the local, state, national and international level. [That includes Bennett]

Eagar should step aside

One drop out?

The time to have picked one conservative candidate for Utah’s 2010 US Senate race was in May of 2009.
Bennett had started running ads on TV about January 2009. We needed people to step up to challenge him.
Cherilyn Eagar asked Mike Lee the end of May 2009 if he was, or was not, getting in the US Senate race before she got in the race – prior to the State GOP Convention where thousands of delegates would be there.
Lee wouldn’t decide. Eagar made her decision. She was at the June 2009 Utah GOP convention with a booth, Lee wasn’t.
I have been asking Mike Lee what he was doing re: the race since Feb. 2009. Finally, in Nov. 2009, about the time Mark Shurtleff dropped out, Lee decided to get in, but made a calculated decision to announce he was running 2 months later, right after the FEC quarterly filing deadline.
Where did Mike Lee get the definition of Transparency? Hopefully not from our current US President. Was there something he didn’t want the voters to know?
Bridgewater switched races last May, and then didn’t file until October. He really did a bad job of unifying the last 2 times he ran.
Cherilyn won the Utah Republican Assembly endorsement by 3 ballots just a few weeks ago. She won all 3 ballots and ended up with 64%.

Great Video
lordjeb Thursday, March 18th at 4:18PM EST (link)But unfortunately I don’t think it’s too surprising to most of us. Bennett has become part of the inside crowd in Washington, and this is how the game is played.
I think Mike Lee is the candidate with the best chance to oust this guy and replace him with somebody who understands the Constitution and the people of Utah.
Other candidate's campaign people have reccomended not committing to one candidate at Caucus
speckk Thursday, March 18th at 4:26PM EST (link)I’m going to the caucus Tuesday night and I’m going to run as a delegate on the “Not Bob Bennett” ticket. I’ve got 2 minutes to tell people who I am, and that Bennett’s campaign has encouraged supporters to lie about being decided. I’ll let them know anyone who fails to deny Bennett could be a supporter lying to them.
There is still a month and a half before the state convention to make up your mind about candidates. Of course people who are Republicans before being conservatives (which is the impression I got from Eager this weekend) are lower down my list.
