If you go to www.redstate.com/action, you’ll encounter our Action Center. From there, a link will be provided to get the direct phone number of your member of Congress. You’ll be able to bypass the often times busy Congressional switchboard.
The link is always there. Right now the action center is dedicated to stopping Obamacare.
Go there now and shut down the Congressional phone lines making sure your congressman knows just how much you oppose Obamacare.
I know some of you think it is a waste of time. It never is. Even when your congressman is already in favor of it, make sure he knows you are opposed.

Mary Beth (Diary) Tuesday, March 16th at 5:50AM EST (link)I’ve read a couple places that Congresscritters are ignoring calls coming from non-constituents.
With that in mind, what if we communicate a few key points?
1. Obamacare affects us all, not just the people in Congressman X’s district.
2. I may not live in Congressman X’s district, but my money is good in all 50 states and can and WILL be used to support Congressman X’s opponent come November should he/she vote in favor of Obamacare.
They need to feel that no seat is safely “blue” anymore. Just ask Senator Martha Coakley.
“A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.” ~ Ronald Reagan
Good points, Mary Beth.

When in Rome
romans12n2 (Diary) Tuesday, March 16th at 7:17AM EST (link)It’s not very Christ-like to misrepresent where you live or vote. But the Bible say to confess your sins one to another. I thought this might be an appropriate time to confess that sometimes whenI’m emailing congressmen outside my district, I tend to get mixed up about my zip code. But, in my defense, we Americans aren’t that smart to begin with. I mean I can’t possibly be expected to remember everywhere I live when I’m calling or writing people outside my district. Especially when the person I’m writing or calling blatantly puts THEIR office address and zip code right there on the bottom of their home page. It just gets so confusing. I mean once they open the email or take the call they can see what’s in it. Maybe on of my aides was in charge of reporting those junkets and bank accts. , I mean making those calls. Surely I didn’t intentionally do something dishonest. In fact I think I’m making the most ethical calls in history ! Sometimes you can’t get in through the door and you have to go over the fence or tunnel under or parachute in. And sometimes you just gotta bust the front door down and storm the office and yell until they listen. Maybe we just haven’t explained ourselves to them enough times.
Ouch
romans12n2 (Diary) Tuesday, March 16th at 7:22AM EST (link)After reading my post , I realized the irony of titling it “when in Rome”. Especially since it is in such close proximity to my chosen screenname. That may be slightly hypocritical! sorry

Called my congressman....
pathfinder81601 Tuesday, March 16th at 8:41AM EST (link)No one would take my call. The message inbox was filled, so I was not able to leave a message. I tried the different extensions offered, but none of them answered. The call was cut off. BTW, the message on their answering machine told me that the office would be closed on February 15 for President’s Day. A little outdated, huh?
I will try to make the call later today….I am sure they will answer then because my call is important to them.
E-mail gets through, I presume
zollistar (Diary) Tuesday, March 16th at 10:57AM EST (link)I’m taking a page from Mary Beth’s playbook and writing to tell congresspeople who are not mine (Jerrold [ugh!] Nadler is mine) that I send money to opposition candidates.
I have.
And do.
If he or she votes Yes on ObamaCare, I will be checking out the opposition and writing checks.
Trying to call Lloyd Doggett
partyof1 Tuesday, March 16th at 10:34AM EST (link)I get a phone company error message.
I know what he thinks about the bill.
Witnesses said that when Doggett was asked whether he would support the plan even if he found that his constituents opposed it, Doggett said he would. People then began chanting “just say no” and overwhelmed the congressman as he moved through the crowd and into the parking lot.

I’ll keep trying though.

Besides, he despised the VA for the lifelong miserable care they provided for his injured leg. He would be appalled at the government health care that will be imposed on the country if this thing passes.
