Emanuel Death Watch Continues: Emanuel Helps Obama Unravel

Jed Babbin has today’s top story at Human Events. It seems the Emanuel Death Watch is continuing.

White House chiefs of staff come and go, arriving with fanfare and departing — usually — in celebration or silence.  Only one exception comes to mind. When Don Regan swapped jobs with Ronald Reagan chief of staff James Baker there began an epic battle with the president’s wife which — to no one’s surprise but Don Regan’s — he lost.

Hamilton Jordan played Sancho Panza to Jimmy Carter’s Don Quixote.  H.R. Haldeman was Cardinal Richelieu to Richard Nixon’s Louis XIII.  But Rahm Emanuel, who has that lean and hungry look, seems to be auditioning for the part of Cassius to Obama’s Caesar.

Rahm Emanuel, famous for declaiming that a crisis should never be allowed to go to waste, is now engaged in an epic battle not only with President Obama’s closest advisers but with the president himself.

He could resign and the Illinois Dems could pull a “Lautenberg/Mondale” switcheroo and have him replace Alexi G to run for the “Obama seat”.

"Rahm-bo" likes knifes, huh?

From that article:

“In Naftali Bendavid’s book, The Thumpin’: How Rahm Emanuel and the Democrats Learned to Be Ruthless and Ended the Republican Revolution, he recounts how Emanuel, at a dinner celebrating Bill Clinton’s election, talked about a list of pols who had “f—ed us,” taking a knife and shouting “dead” after naming each name. ”

Scary guy.

If I ever grow up, I hope to write as well as Jed Babbin. Rahm as Cassius. Awesome. Especially if Octavious is out there just waiting to stuff his obnoxious can in the hurt locker.

up; Rahmbo is out for the Boss and his close advisors. The old “let me show you how much it hurts to not do things my way” game is a dangerous business. You do it if you think the Boss or those around you don’t have the guts to take you on, but if somebody grows a pair, you’re dead. ‘Course, I’ve never done anything like this, but I’ve heard stories.

This would legitimately fall under the category of fireable. Legetimately fireable, not just politically fireable.

” I side impenitently with the human race against the modern reformer.” – C.S. Lewis

Yeah, but to fire him, you'd have to admit that it happened.

Achance (Diary) Monday, March 8th at 11:17AM EST (link)

Somebody who’ll do this sorta stuff ain’t the kind of person who’ll just say they’ve decided to spend more time with their family and go on; he’ll play kiss and tell big time. Then you have to answer it all because the media will love it; no matter how much they love Comrade Obama, they love red meat and ratings more.

I got in a pitched battle with my commissioner during a Democrat administration. He blatantly told us that to get his appointment he’d promised the unions to fire a couple of us. Now this was long before I was a political appointee and didn’t even involve myself in politics just because of this sort of stuff. Anyway, for a year or so, he would do anything but fire me and I’d do anything but quit; his misery was my mission until I could line something up- not an easy thing when what you do is only done by government and you’re on the outs with the government. Finally, got some work with the Republican controlled Legislature, told him to shove it, and then officially made his misery my mission; if he and the Administration wanted something, they couldn’t have it – even if we thought it was a good idea.

I figured he would get it in the neck, whether he deserved it or not.

In retrospect, Rahm is the smart play. At least Obama can now say the failure of his entire agenda (not just the economy) was Rahm’s mismanagement and not the way he wanted things to run. Sure . Right. I also have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

This is a pure and simple game of political Three Card Monty with our countries voters once again being played as hapless bumpkins.

Obama owns this agenda- all of it. Firing Rahm isn’t going to fool anyone at this point.

“Both of our political parties, at least the honest portion of them, agree conscientiously in the same object—the public good; but they differ essentially in what they deem the means of promoting that good. One side believes it best done by one composition of the governing powers; the other, by a different one. One fears most the ignorance of the people; the other, the selfishness of rulers independent of them. Which is right, time and experience will prove.”.Thomas Jefferson

Rahm Emanuel - typical progressive

indyjohn Monday, March 8th at 11:03AM EST (link)

Emanuel and his ilk are all metrosexual, tough-guy wanabees. Politics is the career they have chosen because it allows them to channel their inner Conan the Barbarian without any risk to their manicured nails.
This type of contemporary man was never good at athletics, music, math, or science in school and hated everyone who actually demonstrated innate talent. He would fail at business because he trusts no one and can’t be trusted himself. He harbors an intense inner rage about his own limitations that can only be assuaged by making the lives of others miserable.
Rahm Emanuel’s life and politics are inseparable because it’s the only place were he can behave like a nasty five-year-old and not get his lights punched out (either literally or figuratively).

Rahmbo the Ballerina!

Don’t know if you’d consider it “athletics”, but Rahmbo was a serious ballet dancer.

What really gets me is the article on Drudge about Rahm bullying a Senator in the gym showers! sheeesh…

Ballet lessons

indyjohn Tuesday, March 9th at 8:28AM EST (link)

OK. I will admit it. I took ballet lessons, too. With my wife. She loved seeing me in tights. I learned too late that a straight man in a ballet class attracts nubile women like flowers attract bees. A guy could wear himself out…
However, I think that Rahm got into ballet because he just loves to express himself through dance. Lord, how I wish he had made a career of that instead.

Moral: Don't keep a rattlesnake as a pet

Not one iota of sympathy for Obama here. None. Less than none. It was his idiotic decision to keep the pet rattler. Stupid.

you get leaked, sabotaged, and thwarted the way GWB was. The closest GWB ever had was Scooter Libby and Carl Rove and the left mau-maued both of them.

Most people who can actually get elected or appointed are the kind of people who flee from conflict or controversy. The smarter ones know this and hire themselves a real SOB as COS to be the enforcer. You just have to make sure you keep the enforcer loyal and I think Rahmbo thinks he’s tougher and more powerful than any of BHO’s inner circle and maybe even BHO himself.
