First, the House won’t pass the Senate bill. Stupak has said, as of last night, he has 12 ‘No’ votes. Not to mention, there are plenty of liberals (i.e. Anthony Weiner) who won’t vote for the Senate bill.

Additionally, there is no way that reconciliation can be used to fix the abortion language, as far as I can tell.

This should be fun to watch.

Is that the public misunderstanding of reconciliation gives the tepid Democrats enough cover to vote yes.

Everything that this President and Congress has done to this point has been “trust us” with a wink and a nod. What would happen if they passed the Senate bill and then sabotaged the reconciliation legislation on the grounds that it is simply too unpopular with the American public? We would be stuck with a bill that would open a liberal Pandora’s Box of health care.

My read of the rules is that if Democrats bring this to life by Reconciliation, once Republicans control Congress and the Presidency it can be killed the same way.

I didn’t know that! So it is really House votes for Senate bill or bust. So the House is going to have to pass the Senate bill with reassurance from the Senate that they will fix it later? Hmmmm…290 acts of legislation that the House has passed that are tabled by the Senate. Tough sell for Pelosi to make to her caucus. Rely on the Senate not to let them down. Yeah, that’s going to work.

This would require that the house pass the senate bill without changes based on the understanding that the senate would amend the law to accommodate what the house dems want in it (or out of it). I’d be willing to make book that as soon as the house passes the bill the senate flips them the bird and says “it’s the bill we want.. don’t care what you want” .

Is there no bottom to the lies, deception, and lack of integrity? It’s sad to see the elected elite of this great country stoop to such lows to lie directly to Americans, and the MSM support the propaganda.

I could never comprehend how it was possible to allow millions of Jews to be slaughtered, but now see how it could happen with radicals in charge, a complicit propaganda machine and years of brainwashing in the education system.

Like a good salesman, he acts as though passing some kind of HC bill he likes is inevitable (“what do you mean, you’re not buying a car today?)- while it’s surely not.

You know, it is amazing to see how uninformed and naive the Kossacks really are. Wanting Senators to sign a letter saying they will push for the public option via reconciliation. Even worse is you see just how diabolical these Democratic politicians are in leading them on by saying “Yeah, we’ll sign it” while probably laughing their collective butts off in a seperate room. So it really is the Senate bill or bust that the House will pass. No public option, unions will have their cadillac plans taxed, etc. The Cornhusker kickback and the Louisiana purchase stay in. Ben Nelson and Mary Landrieu no wonder are staying steadfast in their support while trying to look sanctimonious. Wow, just wow. Talk about public relations misdirection tactics by Obama/Pelosi/Reid. The Machievellian character of these people is to a degree that is beyond shocking.

House or Senate passes the “corrective” bill that makes the agreed changes to the existing Senate bill that hasn’t yet been passed by the House. The other house passes this same corrective bill.
House passes existing Senate bill. Both bills are sent to the President who signs the existing Senate bill first then the corrective bill. The corrective bill is legal because it is correcting something that is already law (by a few seconds at least).
This of course requires faith on the part of the House members that the President will, in fact, sign the corrective bill and not veto it leaving the existing Senate bill as the law of the land.

That all this talk “using reconciliation” has gotten this far and continues to be pushed for in the face of all facts about it.

Aside from the sad truth that even the lawmakers are expressing their ignorance over the valid use of reconciliation when something so wrong legally is being pushed by a so-called “constitutional scholar” does that not bring to mind the question “why”?

Just more proof that the Alinsky lefties think that rules are only for suckers and meant to be broken to get what they want…
