Bob Bennett Must Go

When given the chance to vote on an amendment that would have prohibited social security surplus funds from being spent on other government programs, Senator Bob Bennett opposed the amended this no brainer.

Bennett needs to go and so does Mitt Romney!

mikenad (Diary) Thursday, March 4th at 10:53PM EST (link)

Bob Bennett is a pile of crap. The federal Government is gobbling up land in his state left and right. They are driving down tax revenues and preventing Oil Shale leases. Ken Salazar belongs in prison. The man is the reason why Oil is 80 bucks a barrell even with a very awful economy. Bob Bennett never stands for Utah! Bennett voted to confirm CASS SUNSTEIN! That should end his career. Speaking of Liberal Republican Mormons Mitt Romney was terrible on Cavuto and is not definitely not to be trusted on Abortion. Romney does not get it and I am glad we have 18 months before the 2012 election gets into high gear. I hope Mitten is clobbered before Iowa, Mitt Romney and Bob Bennett are the problem and not the solution! Kudos to your selection of Daniels. Daniels is a fine choice. Kasich and Palin still have my heart along with the Washington’s Finest Politician Jim DeMint! Jim DeMint is my hero!

Land grab?

Cowboy (Diary) Thursday, March 4th at 11:15PM EST (link)

The feds already own about 70% of the state. What land are they gobbling up? State Land, Gentile Private Land, Conservative Mormon Land or the run of the mill Liberal Republican kind of land?

Um...

Mitt Romney isn’t in office.

So I don’t want to see any more Romney threadjacks.

that your “hero” and “Washington’s Finest Politician” Jim Demint endorsed the terrible Mitt Romney, your apparent enemy?

For the record, I’m on the fence for 2012, but people like you make me much more inclined to support Romney.

That's hilarious

You Mean Like Rubio

edintexas Friday, March 5th at 12:00PM EST (link)

Marco Rubio said on Cavuto’s show, yesterday, that in 2008 he supported the Huckster for President. He’s still far better than Crist and he might eventually determine that Huckabee was, and is, no Conservative.

Your continuing monomania about Romney has been noticed

Neil has warned you, so take heed.

You’re continuing to add negative value to the comment threads here. Course correction is indicated.

The greatest evil…is conceived and ordered (moved, seconded, carried, and minuted) in clean, carpeted, warmed, and well-lighted offices, by quiet men with white collars and cut fingernails and smooth-shaven cheeks who do not need to raise their voice. Bennett Must Go

constitutionalconservative (Diary) Friday, March 5th at 12:13AM EST (link)

He is a sterling example of everything that is wrong with establishment Reublicans. Utah is probably the safest R seat in the country. We should have a conservative superstar representing that state, not a moderate squish.

The GOPs electoral problem is that we don’t have enough principled conservatives even in our strongest seats. There is no reason to settle for anything less than outstanding conservatives in these seats and we should aggressively primary all of the Bob Bennett’s of the world and bring in real conservative leadership

Bennett should go

Adjoran (Diary) Friday, March 5th at 3:17AM EST (link)

but not because of this particular vote, which is meaningless.

There is no real way to segregate federal revenues. Even if there were, saying the SS “surpluses” can’t be spent would only mean the other spending would be added to the deficit, not that it would be eliminated. In case anyone hasn’t noticed, adding to the deficit seems to be a specialty of this Congress and this President. So what is the point, exactly?

Besides, SS surpluses are dwindling fast. It’s like closing the barn door after all the horses have escaped, and expecting a pat on the back for it.

Unbelievable!

teridavisnewman (Diary) Friday, March 5th at 7:18AM EST (link)

In a state the size of Utah, it’s hard to believe that this idiot beat out everyone else for the Senate seat. Of course with what I’ve learned about politics since becoming the Republican nominee for the 12 Illinois Congressional Seat, nothing surprises me any more.

What is the Bill No. for this vote?

pamdale Friday, March 5th at 8:15AM EST (link)

It would be helpful to have underlying documentation for Erick’s assertion. It’s not that I am skeptical, but I want to pass on this information to others in Utah and I would like to be able to site where this came from instead of trying to look it up. Thanks.

I simply do not understand some voters

RedBeard Friday, March 5th at 9:03AM EST (link)

Bennett is one example of voters largely going against their own principles.

This strange phenomenon has puzzled me ever since conservative Idaho kept re-electing liberal Frank Church.

Irrational behavior.

Utah: the Sally Fields of America

mrjiblet Friday, March 5th at 10:27AM EST (link)

Here, in the state with the shape only slightly more interesting than Colorado, we’re scared of not being liked. It’s a cultural thing. It’s a Mormon thing.

This is why people like Bob Bennett and Orrin Hatch (and Frank Church in Idaho) continue to stay in office. We are fearful to elect a true conservative who will go to Washington and open a six-pack of whoop-ass — besides, we know “six-pack” refers to beer, and we don’t drink either.

Utah is the Sally Fields of America… “You like me? You really like me?” Inside the state we are regularly served stories from our mind-numbing local news about this famous Mormon or that famous Mormon. We want everyone to love us. We want to be accepting and kind and good. As a culture we are so desperate to be liked and considered one of the cool kids we’re willing to sell out the very qualities and principles that make Utah such a great place to live.

Luckily the fevered pitch of nonsense in politics has started to wake us up. We’re finally realizing the pioneers weren’t patty-cake pansies and it’s time to stand up for what’s good and right–damn the consequences. We are also beginning to see that milk-toast phony conservatives like Bob Bennett need to spend more time with their families and less time (not) representing us.

The tide is changing, this blog and ads by The Club for Growth are beginning to make a difference. But the pressure needs to continue — we still have a lot of Sally Fields to turn around. Trust me Utah, do what’s right and people will like you. They will really, really like you.

Today's attack on Bob Bennett...

capitoloffense Friday, March 5th at 11:51AM EST (link)

… brought to you by the economically ignorant.

Social Security surplus funds are invested in government bonds, and then that revenue is spent on other programs. Were that to stop, the Social Security trust fund would receive no return on the money it’s not using.

This attack is simply stupid, not dishonest. I suppose that’s a step in the right direction.

So, Bennett's mini me thinks the majority of Republicans are just stupid...

Aaron Gardner (Diary) Friday, March 5th at 12:20PM EST (link)

Only the real Republicans like Collins and Snowe and Bennett know what they are talking about.

The posting of black and white (and yellow) facts is anathema to those trying to defend Bennett’s indefensible positions.

Nice company he is in there, on that chart. Seems to the casual eye that he has allied himself with a whole bunch of folks with a D after their names.

John McCain, too

vocalyokel Friday, March 5th at 1:23PM EST (link)

John McCain must go as well. His defeat in the primary is at least as important as that of Bob Bennett, if not more so. I’d much rather confront the liberal enemy when he resides in the other camp, than in our midst. John McCain has shown a raging, rampant disregard, if not outright disdain, for the US constitution for 5 1/2 years of each of his 6 year terms in office. He only becomes a plaid-wearing conservative during his re-up campaigns.

What’s up with you folks in the southwest? We where I reside have plenty of libs in the Senate already–we require some real representation from you to offset the ACLU lawyer and the spiteful troll who supposedly “represent” me. I don’t even bother writing them, as the former gives my thoughts the same regard as she gives the US constitution, and the latter can’t read. Liberal republicans are the real enemy–politically speaking, of course.

What about Cherilyn Eagar?

danielbdp (Diary) Friday, March 5th at 3:00PM EST (link)

I’m not from Utah, but I’ve read about her and heard her speak. Seem’s to be getting quite a few Conservative endorsements…also seems to have the right ideas on health care…just a thought.

Her posts here don't impress

Neil Stevens (Diary) Friday, March 5th at 3:01PM EST (link)

Her wild accusations of corruption do not impress.

Conservatives favor freedom of speech, but she wants to equate campaign donations with corruption.

Cherilyn Eagar is the best running against Bob Bennett

arc_ut (Diary) Friday, March 5th at 5:34PM EST (link)

I believe that Cherilyn Eagar is the only one running who has supported and been active in fighting for conservative values for the last 30 years at the local, state, national and international level. [That includes Bennett]
