Jed Babbin has the top story today at Human Events.
When Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind) announced his retirement, the media revived their drumbeat that our government is broken. As the indispensable Brent Bozell pointed out last week, Democrats and the media only complain of broken government when the liberals can’t get their agenda enacted.
The problem isn’t that our government isn’t working: it’s that President Obama’s agenda is entirely perverse. It reverses the essential order of priorities, devoting the energy of government exclusively to his plans to revolutionize our country.
Since last June, congress and the White House have been consumed by President Obama’s plan to impose government control on our healthcare system. With time outs for the occasional earthquake or celebrity scandal, their attention has been drawn from more important issues, and of our most precious asset — time — nine months have been wasted and cannot be recovered.

The government is broken
10ksnooker (Diary) Monday, March 1st at 6:06PM EST (link)When Democrats are ostensibly running it. It’s a really strange type disease they have.
Desperate times are here again. Time to stand guard 24/7.
Wasn’t the premise of government rationed health care, cheaper and better …
I hold most presidents in low regard.
Viet71 (Diary) Monday, March 1st at 6:08PM EST (link)Obama is the worst of the worst.
Many of his former supporters now share my view.
I would say what I feel, but you would ban me.
I hope and pray it is not too late,
Bill Monday, March 1st at 7:07PM EST (link)but I fear that the Dems will pass this power grab for 16-20% of our national economy with Obamacare. They are betting that even if the GOP takes back the House and Senate that they will not have the gonads to vote to roll back every thing that will have been done or if they do vote roll backs, Obama will VETO the legislation and there will not be enough votes to over ride any vetoes from Obama. STOP it now! Stop it now! Stop it now!
Thank God! November 3, 2010. U.S. House, GOP 290, DEM 145; U.S. Senate, GOP 70, DEM 28, IND 2. Keep on praying!
Bill, if the Dems do what you describe,
Viet71 (Diary) Monday, March 1st at 7:18PM EST (link)the Republican Party will own the House in the wake of the 2010 elections.
Obama is already a lame duck.
Okay, so the GOP holds the House!
Bill Monday, March 1st at 8:09PM EST (link)But, will they have the guts and numbers to roll back this devastating Health Care and spending which the Dems will have put in place before November 2010. It really seems the Dems are willing to sacrifice themselves to put into place the new burearcracy before November 2010 betting the GOP can’t take it away! What say you?
Thank God! November 3, 2010. U.S. House, GOP 290, DEM 145; U.S. Senate, GOP 70, DEM 28, IND 2. Keep on praying!
Bill- It depends largely on who wins the Republican seats
Scope (Diary) Monday, March 1st at 8:47PM EST (link)I do think there are some that will fight to repeal the Progressive agenda. Unfortunately, there will still be idiots, traitors, turn coats, whatever you want to call them in the Senate and House. The more we all support the conservatives, the less impact their voices will have. Many of the current placeholders in the Congress will continue to push the party to the left, and, they can/will have the gonads to try to block any movement by the conservatives who they fear and hate. Can you even imagine John McCain as an unbeatable in Arizona? Neither can I.

Strategic Calculation
atomicroach Monday, March 1st at 7:58PM EST (link)I think democrats look back and see that Ronald Reagan couldn’t even close the Department of Education. Is NPR in fear of losing it’s funding? No Washington program ever seems to die. If they can get the bureaucracy set up and build some new buildings, they are golden. They are the enemy, but give them credit for thinking long term. And those dems that lose their seats over their vote will stay in Washington as lobbyists or leeches of some form. It’s win/win.
Obama must go
DerKrieger (Diary) Monday, March 1st at 10:42PM EST (link)I’m getting really sick and tired of this debate. Right now I’m more interested in what the heck we’re going to do if it does pass. The Democrat party has been taken over by the far, far Left and they don’t give a damn if the moderates are wiped out if it means they can impose socialism on this nation against the clear majority of American citizens.
What we have is a coup d’etat in the making brought about by a once in a lifetime alignment of the Democrats’ stars. We are literally at risk of losing our republic and the Left is simply thrilled at the prospect of enslaving the middle class to the federal government. We will exist to be the host to the parasites of the Democrat constituency.
I personally will not stand for it. I’m not sure yet what I’ll do but I will not be an indentured servant. I will definitely be working overtime at the state level to push for nullification and 10th Amendment challenges to this unconstitutional assault on my liberties. I will even consider supporting secession.
Are we going to allow ourselves to be enslaved? What’s next? I suspect the next target will be our private retirement assets.
My second biggest fear, behind Obamacare, is the members of the ‘moderate’ wing of the GOP who will shrug their shoulders and say “we tried” and then do as the conservatives in the UK do which is to argue that they can run the welfare state better than the Leftists. How many in the GOP are ready for full scale political war to save this nation from our would be masters? Who are they? I want them to commit to battle now. we must demand our candidates explicitly announce their intention to fight for repeal. If they defeat a Dem based on the Dem’s support for Obamacare they cannot be allowed to not make a statement about their position on repeal.
“In questions of power, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.” – Thomas Jefferson
“I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.” – James Madison
Whenever the legislators endeavor to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people, who are thereupon absolved from any further obedience.” — John Locke, 1690
