Georgia Congressman John Linder to Retire

GA07_110.jpg

John Linder, chief proponent and sponsor of the Fair Tax in the United States Congress, represents the 7th Congressional District in Georgia.

Just a few minutes ago, Linder announced his retirement from Congress.

The seat is solidly Republican. This will be an interesting race.

John Linder has been brilliantly representing the people northeast of Atlanta for many years….he will truly be missed. Hopefully this will allow him to put more energy into pushing the Fair Tax plan.

As a lifelong FairTax proponent, Linder will be missed by me and all other FairTaxers that have stood behind him for his service to us. He will be missed deeply.

The Fair Tax has gotten a lot of sponsors, the Senator here in NC (Burr) recently sent out an email talking about the Fair Tax and working in the next few months to get some kind of reform going.

It won’t happen with this Congress and President, but at least they’re still talking about it.

I hope Linder’s replacement supports the Fair Tax and that Linder will keep working for it, perhaps by lobbying. He’d be the best Fair Tax lobbyist you could ask for.

Fair tax....the key

ingredient along with drill here, drill now. These two programs would do more to revitalize and rescue our economy than any other plan that is now on the drawing board. We need a massive influx of capital and the Fair Tax would do that. We need to sever the umbilical cord of foreign oil and join other world leaders in the production and refining of our own resources. Not only would we assure this nation of energy independence but we could export these products abroad which would reverse the flow of money from the US to a flow of money to the US. Untold billions and trillions would give new life to the US economy. It would also restore America to its standing as the worlds greatest super power.
However! actually becoming an energy exporter would cause environmentalists to suffer an aneurysm, and that by the way is the #1 reason they hate Sarah Palin. But I believe that we have the technology to have our cake and eat it too. We can do this and still save the snail darter, whales, spotted owls, and maybe we can even increase the population of geese to a point that all air travel can be banned because they are bringing down more aircraft than stinger missiles. Common sense in the environmental movement is just about as rare as common sense from the leadership of this country.

Why would ye die?

I’m in John Linder’s district and have talked to him several times. I am appalled that he’s leaving – especially at this time. We WILL elect a conservative to replace him.

As a FairTax activist, I was sorry to receive this news. John Linder has been unwavering in his sponsorship and support of the FairTax. I wish John well in his retirement and look forward to a smooth passing of the FairTax Torch.

Rep Linder told a few of us a little while back

Jim Tomasik (Diary) Saturday, February 27th at 8:01PM EST (link)

while on a conference call that he felt that FairTax had become something larger than himself and that it had become a viral passion for activists all over the country. He pretty much said that if he were to die today, the FairTax movement would carry on and continue to grow.

What he said was correct.

Hat’s off to Rep. Linder.

Methinks our own Erick might be entering this race?
