and it better stop right now with this primary season here in 2010…moderate RINOs being sore losers and taking their marbles and going home or (ala NY-23) to the dark side. But we conservatives are expected to put our pom-poms on and go hoo rah sis boom bah for the moderates in the generals when THEY win the primaries. What a double standard.

I had a similar reaction when I first heard some of this speculation the other day: the party establishment will seek to cover their a%^*& by blaming conservatives. What they don’t get is that reality that we don’t want people who leave the party because they lose a primary. It’s promoting those type of opportunists in the first place that is the problem, not the people who defeat them.

But they’ll look foolish when Rubio wins anyway.

If Charlie Crist shows up as a sore loser and runs as an independent, he will garner precious few Republican votes,considerably less than the Dimmocrat votes he will steal away from Kendrick Meek.
If he was any kind of a man, he would pull out of the race and endorse Marco Rubio.That would leave his future open to do battle with Nelson.
I think Jeb should call and talk some sense into him.

I cannot begin to express my disappointment with Charlie Crist. If he switches or runs as an independent, it will turn to outrage. I’ve been in Tampa since 1997. I’ve voted for Crist five times in primaries and general election, including in 1998 when he ran against Senator Bob Graham. I even don’t mind him hugging Obama, as long as he doesn’t embrace his policies. As we know, he did just that.

Unfortunately, Charlie has proven that conservative voters like myself are played for fools. I feel like a fool five times over. He, like many politicians feign principles for personal gain. He feels ENTITLED to be a U.S. Senator and now that the people of Florida are looking for real change, He’s acting like the little kid throwing a fit, taking his bat, ball to go home and cry to mommy how the other kids were mean to him. He doesn’t get his way? He just changes his principles! I would call it narcissism, but I believe it requires one to think themselves always in the right. He has no principles, so therefore redefines right to suit his momentary objectives.

Marco Rubio should’ve followed the rules on using the AMEX, but that is a piddling issue when measured against the public career of Charlie Crist. It’s amazing how he was claiming to be a true conservative, but I guess that’s no longer convenient.

…he knows he’s not likely to make it as an independent; this maneuver is mainly just to screw Rubio. Crist is still popular enough in Florida to siphon off a good 1/3rd of the Republican vote.

But this is what liberal Republicans do, from Jim Leach to Wayne Gilchrest to Dede Scozzafava. If they can’t have the marbles then they make sure everyone else goes down with them.

Crist may be surprised at the reaction of voters here in Florida should he change parties or go negative on Rubio. He’s been waiting for his bud Obama to call him to DC for an important job — poor jerk he believed the greatest liar since bubba.

In Florida if you lose the republican primary (or any primary) you can’t run in the general as an independent. at least we have that going for us. So were he to jump ship i’d think he’d need to do it prior to the filing deadline of 4/30/10 but i’m guessing there.

If there’s truth to these rumors, we need to have Crist on the record promise he won’t jump parties or run as an independent. It should be a no-brainer to make that promise. If he won’t take that pledge, obviously he’s done in Republican politics. If he does take the pledge, and jumps parties anyway, he erodes an enormous amount of credibility for his candidacy.

If Crist does make an independent run, it very well could siphon off just enough votes from Rubio to put a Democrat over the top, so I’m certainly not egging on Crist to leave the party and try to make a run as an independent.

I’d like to have the two square off in a primary, and then have a fair fight against the Democrat nominee.

the conservative movement strikes again. redstate is the speaker phone for the true conservative grassroots, and they can hate on us and Marco rubio all they want but the fact is that will only make us hate them even more. the real problem is that the GOP is littered with Charlie Christ’s aka RINO’s. ive given up hope on the republican party

I and other conservatives have been accused over and over again of whining and taking our ball and going home when we’ve never done any such thing…yet we have Specter, Scozaffava, and now Crist jumping ship and either joining the other party or endorsing the Democrat coupled with Eric’s list of RINOs who have done the same thing and the case just get’s stronger that when they attack Conservatives as disloyal…they are projecting.

Crist was supposed (logic would indicate) to run for another term as Governor this year, then challenge Nelson in 2012 for the Senate. This would give GOP the Gov. seat after the census returns are in. He just needed to be patient. He really would have had little GOP opposition in Gov. primary. I am not a Crist fan, by any means, as my sig says. He (and FLGOP) either got bad advice or was very impatient.

What about the private lunch Crist was seen having with Joe Biden? Maybe, before he gets his White House appointment, he is planning to pull a Scozzafava and endorse the Democrat. Sorry, Charlie!

Christ doesn’t have many friends left among 912ers, Tea-baggers or anyone else except a few deadbeat RINOS.

The Repubs have a big expense issue here in Fla., won’t help, we need to clean our party up. Everyone I know thinks Rubio a step in the right direction….he has more support than anyone has in a long while.

The current Republican Party leaders continue to display an uncanny blindness and deafness to what is going on around them. It is virtually impossible to get a “response” from the so called “Republican Establishment” in Florida either statewide (The RPOF) or locally (Lee County as an example) Try going on either one of the websites suggesting you contact them and see if they respond. THEY DON’T.

That being said, the total ignorance of Conservatives in the State of Florida is dangerous and I would suggest those “main stream” Republicans who continue their ignorance join Mr, Crist as Independents, so we can identify the truly responsible Republicans here in Florida.

The fact of the matter here is you may see this tactic by other RINO’s in this country. Get ready and remember Conservative principles can never again be compromised at the expense of the American people.
