Bob Bennett Must Go

The Club for Growth notes that Senator Bob Bennett sponsors and supports the so-called “Healthy Americans Act,” a trillion-dollar government takeover of healthcare that rivals ObamaCare for being a massive big government proposal. It would increase job-killing taxes, impose an individual mandate, increase health care costs, and would give Washington the authority to regulate every health care plan in the country.

The legislation, S. 391, is considered by pro-life groups and even the Heritage Foundation to be as bad or worse than the Democrats’ proposal.

This has always been my case against him.

It has an individual mandate. It fails. Go away Bob Bennett.

Fortunately for us, the Democrats are more concerned with getting their big government plan through, rather than compromising to get Bennett’s support on something like this (on which he collaborated with Democrat Ron Wyden by the way). We need to get rid of Bennett before it is too late.

A Wolf In Sheeps Clothing

bob Bennett can not be allowed to proceed with his health reform bill. Where this man comes up with these ideas is beyond belief. We are desperately fighting the Liberals now to stop socialized medicine and here he is with such an idiotic bill. People don’t seem to understand that the opposition to the Dem’s health Care reform is not so much about cost as it is about stopping the government from controlling our lives. Once the health Care Bill is passed and in force the government with be able to dictate what you eat, how much exercise you must get, when, where and what you can do and all in the name of the Health Care. What I just said may seem radical but don’t forget who we are dealing with. We are dealing with the most radical left-wing group to have ever been in power in this country.

You clearly have no idea...

… what’s actually in Senator Bennett’s proposal, do you?

Bennett & McCain

partyless1 Friday, February 26th at 10:15AM EST (link)

Utah and Arizona he their thorns, and it’s hard to explain why such individuals have been kept in office so long when they do what they want over the wishes of the people. Arizona feels the pain of Utah, with our need to get rid of the RINO McCain who hangs around like a bad penny. To outsiders they must either view the candidates as wanted by the people, or see the people as conflicted; it is hard to justify why a Bennett or McCain can get re-elected. Then to have so called conservatives endorsing the RINO instead of the conservative, makes it even harder to get rid of the entrenched RINO’s. Palin, Kyle, Franks, etc are not doing Arizona any favors! I am sure Utah will suffer with similar endorsements of it’s RINO.

Principled People in Washington, D.C.

partyless1 Friday, February 26th at 10:28AM EST (link)

It seems as if one wanted to count all of the principled people in Washington, D.C.; they could use one hand and have 5 fingers left over. Individuals such as Bennett, Pelosi, Boxer, Graham, Spector, Obama, Gibbs, …. show the complete disregard for the people and the “Just Words” oath of office they took, as they lie, cheat, and steal from the people while offering the facade that they are looking our for your best interest. The nation needs Utah to dump Bennett, just as it needs Arizona to dump McCain (aka Sen. Lettuce for his pro-illegal antics).

Any facts you want to cite here, sir...

… or are you comfortable just spewing populist cliches?

Bigfix what exactly are your reasons for supporting Bennett's progressive bill or don't you have any?

nessa (Diary) Friday, February 26th at 4:36PM EST (link)

you’re making comments all over the site but I don’t see anything but questions. Why should anyone support a progressive takeover of our economy?

This is really petty, guys

bigfix Friday, February 26th at 11:14AM EST (link)

Way to divide Republicans instead of defeating Democrats.

National Journal rankings today – Bennett scores a 79.5 composite conservative ranking, essentially tied with Sam Brownback in the top 20% of most conservative senators in the Senate. A RINO he ain’t. Dumping Bennett is all about making the Club for Growth and Erick Erickson kingmakers and has nothing to do with Bennett himself, who has always been a pragmatic, rock-ribbed conservative well-respected on both sides of the aisle.

I fully expect to be banned after posting something so blatantly, heretically pro-Bennett, but enough is enough, guys.

If you wish to give a pass to a Senator from the GOP

eburke (Diary) Friday, February 26th at 12:33PM EST (link)

who not just votes for but *proposes* legislation which would give the government total control over our health care system, you may have wandered onto the wrong site 3 days ago.

This isn’t some proposal to authorize a study of the mating habits of Siberian yaks. This strikes at the very core of the Constitution and government control of our lives.

That you would call this ‘petty’ can mean only 3 things:

1) you don’t understand what conservatism really is.

2) you’re ok with the concept of the GOP being a Progressive-lite party; or,

3) you’re a troll.

I would expect your reply to this post, plus your future posting history will reveal which of the 3. If it’s #1 or 2, hang around and learn. If it’s #3, you’re right…sooner or later the blam stick will find you.

1. “Proposing” legislation is far less damning than voting for a final bill. You imply that this bill was actually being considered by the Congress or would have c ome up for a vote. What he “proposed” was a starting point for discussion, which was attacked vehemently by the AFL-CIO, ACORN, and others from the hard left because of its free market focus which froze the government out of the insurance business. Factcheck.org demonstrated how misleading the Club for Growth attacks on the bill were, and just recycling the nastiness doesn’t make it true.

2. I’m not OK with a party that sacrifices solid conservatives to aggrandize pundits.

3. You’re a poophead.

Getting ever closer to the blam stick…

Well bigfix,

nessa (Diary) Friday, February 26th at 3:12PM EST (link)

how about if our elected idiots didn’t support progressive legislation as a “starting point” or any point. Whats wrong with being the party of NO? No big government, No more entitlements, No more progressive anything.

Closer to the blam stick? I should hope so.

“Elected idiots” isn’t really a very useful term in an objective sense. That is to say, it’s very evocative, but all it tells me is that you don’t like them. You’re using the word “progressive” in the same way – as an epithet rather than a statement of fact. Ron Wyden was savaged in Oregon by his left-wing buddies because the core of the Healthy Americans Act is anything but progressive – it eliminates Medicaid entirely, makes health care portable, and puts the entire responsibility for health care on the private sector.

Glad you hope I get blammed – it would require less actual discussion and allow you to spew invective unopposed.

yea, I'll cuddle, till you are blammed!

you don’t like elected idiot? How about registered idiot? That would be you. No kidding, you picked up on the fact that I don’t like progressives that quick did you? Wow, you’re all over it. My invective seems to be appreciated here, check the recommended diaries. how many do you have up there? Oh, sorry.

eburke (Diary) Friday, February 26th at 6:21PM EST (link)

1) Are you truly serious? This is such a preposterous, vacuous statement I’m not even sure where to begin deconstructing it. Tell ya what, when Harry Reid proposes a free market solution to the health care reform issue, come back and we’ll talk about it.

To believe that the type of legislation one authors is divorced from his political viewpoint is simply stunning (oh, and btw, the fact that you relied on Factcheck.org for anything other than finding out what the latest lefty talking points are speaks volumes that you are most likely #3 above. “By their posts you will know them”

2) You didn’t answer the question.

3) Thank you. Having read your other posts and beginning to conclude that whatever you are, the adjective “sanctimonious” would probably appropriate, I’ll take that as a compliment.

The way

olddog Friday, February 26th at 12:42PM EST (link)

to change peoples perspectives is to meld into the opposition’s camp then change policies within, to make the people think differently, about our cause. It is my belief the progressives have been doing this for a long time. So now people distrust either party but republicans more. Is there someone much smarter than I am who could figure a way to expose all of them, in the grand old party, and give it back to the people, to which it should belong, not the anti-Constitutionalists that call themselves modern progressives. while masquerading as being for the people.

Big Government Is Devisive

theconservative1 Friday, February 26th at 1:17PM EST (link)

Time for the States to reestablish their rights and curtail the size of, the power of, the incompetence of, the criminality of, the personal gain of , and the fraud of those that have failed to uphold their offices, their oaths, their integrity, and the public trust. Also, time to restructure the legislative branch of our government and to reestablish the separations of powers between the three branches. Also, to eliminate the services of attorneys, who shelve their memberships in the judiciary branch to become a legislator. Time to recruit a corps of senatorial volunteers, program, local basing, and a 500+ member unicameral Senate made up of properly screened individuals randomly selected via secure computers. Five year terms with a one-time 5 year extension if voted on by the constituents by yea or nay vote. No Political party involvement. Only the Executive branch would be an elected branch. Works for the military!

It's also time for pie.

bigfix Friday, February 26th at 4:23PM EST (link)

Because who doesn’t like pie?

As for the rest of the stuff, I’ll stick to the Constitution, thanks. 500-member unicameral Senates give me hives.
