I have to admit, I’m no expert in Indiana election law…She sounds so way, way, way out of her league (at least 3 ways) that someone would have surely talked her into dropping out.

running "unopposed". From the National Review Online, I kid you not

d’Ippolito needs 500 signatures from each of the state’s nine congressional districts. National Review Online spoke with d’Ippolito last night, and she said her biggest hurdle was in Indiana’s 8th district. “We still have about 500 to go there,” she said.

Sounds like a formidable opponent.

I realize it was less then 24 hours but you mean to tell me the IN GOP could not have had 50 people in each congressional district go to staunch republicans last night ( usually husband and wife on 1 trip) and get 10 people each in a congressional district for some person as faux Democrat?

Really they usually have copies to previous sigs and addresses to boot. They could of saved the party millions

… is the probably the only Republican candidate that even has a chance at beating Feingold. That’s why the NRSC is courting him; there *are* no other big name candidates running that have the political finesse, name recognition and financial resources to be serious contenders.

As for Mark Neumann, he’s running for Governor against Milwaukee Executive Scott Walker (AWESOME) and is losing … very badly. Quite frankly, Neumann won’t run again against Feingold.

The next best candidate, who will probably enter the race if Tommy Thompson chooses not to run, is Senator Ted Kanavas of Brookfield.

Following that are the two unknowns already running for the Senate against Feingold; Terence Wall and David Westlake. I wish both of them the best of luck, but these guys don’t have a chance against that Feingold. :\

Granted the source is Politico, so for what its worth. – josh K, says in a write-up..

“According to state Democratic Party Chairman Dan Parker, she gathered just 22 valid signatures across the state.”

d’Ippolito says the state hasn’t contacted all the counties yet and so don’t reflect the true numbers.

( She may be right and probably has more than 22 votes, it seems the D-Party Chairman is spouting hope and wishful thinking)

According to Hotline On Call, she missed the ballot: http://hotlineoncall.nationaljournal.com/archives/2010/02/in_dem_says_she.php. She fell well short in the 7th even though she said she needed help in the 8th. The Dems want to put Ellsworth on the ballot.

Judging by her facebook page/comments she is not stopping, this is going to be a cluster for the Dems. We need to really break out the popcorn, she thinks she has the signatures.

Keep getting signatures Indiana! They will try to force her out, she is a self described liberal Dem, no way she wins the general!

The Democrats in Indiana will contest EVERY signature. To be safe, an average candidate needs a few thousand extra. Were not gonna get that here, but we probably need extra. Keep going if you can in Indiana!
