Marco Rubio Takes 12 Point Lead. Let’s Help Him Finish Off Charlie Crist.

Rasmussen has the political earthquake out today. Charlie Crist’s team was unavailable for comment as they were in the bathroom collectively unable to contain themselves.

Boom.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely GOP Primary voters in the state finds Rubio leading Crist 49% to 37%. Three percent (3%) prefer another candidate, and 11% are undecided.
The new numbers mark a stunning turnaround. Crist was the strong favorite when he first announced for the Senate seat, and Rubio was viewed as a long-shot challenger.

But folks, we cannot afford to get complacent. We can finish off Charlie Crist now. Pledge what you can to the Marco Rubio money bomb. Let’s ensure he is in a financial position to finish off Charlie Crist and clinch the Republican nomination.

Maybe this is why the media is reporting Charlie Crist had beakfast in Miami with Joe Biden the other day. Perhaps Crist is planning on jumping ship or taking a President appointment to lead up the relief effort to Haiti.

Crist should take an appointment

Darin_H (Diary) Monday, February 1st at 2:00PM EST (link)

It’s a solid way out for him, he’s toast now in the FL primary. Save some face Charlie, it’s a good calling to help the President and the people of Haiti. Maybe you can run in 2012 to take out Nelson, I’ll promise to vote for you in the general election over him.

… about the prospect of “Senator Crist” now OR in the future, an even-up trade – Crist for Nelson – would be a net gain.

You can’t make the case the Crist is or would be as bad as Nelson. And don’t get me wrong – I’m no fan of Charlie Crist – I want him gone as much as the next conservative wants him gone. But while I fully understand that he’s a full-blooded RINO, he’s not an Olympia Snowe type RINO, and he’s not a Democrat.

Best case scenario, he goes away. I was just agreeing that in an exchange for Nelson, the (R) would make him more palatable.

My biggest reason would be that whereas

eburke (Diary) Monday, February 1st at 8:32PM EST (link)

the ME sisters are from a blue state (and rarely provide the margin of defeat for us), Crist is from a purple/red state and we can do much, much better in a state like FL. I will back a ‘moderate’ Republican when absolutely necessary (I sent some not-small contributions to Brown) but Crist is not only a liberal, but he’s also a camera-hungry liberal which means that not only will he blur the lines big-time for us, he won’t be shy about whoring himself to the media which makes it even worse (and is another area that the ME sisters, for the most part, avoid)

“All that need be done for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.”

Unified Patriots

You are absolutely correct

IronDioPriest (Diary) Tuesday, February 2nd at 2:19AM EST (link)

Florida could do much, much better than Crist. And it looks like they may be set to do exactly that, by elevating a bright young man named Marco Rubio. God willing…

Didn’t realize he was in the top tier til I read in my local paper yesterday that he & Seifert are the 2 top tier candidates. I wouldn’t lose any sleep over Seifert ’cause he’s been good on the issues. But he’s also spent most of his adult life in government which probably isn’t the resume’ you want in an anti-incumbent, anti-government year.

jmimac351 Monday, February 1st at 4:59PM EST (link)

Like it or not, I think the “not another Bush” thing will resonate with too many people to make him viable in 2012 for POTUS. It’s too close to GWB being in there. Jeb will need to be on the national stage for a longer period of time which the Senate will give him a platform form. He will win in Florida because Floridians know what he is about. I think it will take some time for the rest of the nation to realize that he is not his brother’s twin and him being in the Senate will give him that separation he needs from the GWB administration, and GWB. I think 2016 is his nearest opportunity.

That might have some weight in National Election

There are some real opportunities for Senate pick-ups in 2012. There are what I call the Iraq Democrats (those who won solely on the issue of Iraq) like Webb, Tester and Casey. And, I’d love to take out the Nelsons, Stabenow, McCaskill (who I believe was supposed to have cured every disease known to mankind by now with stem cell research?), Conrad (he will be doomed once NDakotans realize with Sen. Hoeven that farm subsidies and social security checks still come in the mail if the ND congressional delegation is not all Democrats), Byrd (who should be dead by then).

Sen C. McCaskill in 2012

crofiscon Tuesday, February 2nd at 12:27AM EST (link)

As long as GOP fields a warm conservative body for the Missouri Senate seat in 2012, it’s a certain pickup for GOP.

Recall that when more than half the country was hypnotized by BHO in 2008, and McCaskill was an ardent co-chair of his campaign, Missouri still went for John McCain. Old passions ran deep in the South in 2008, and will do so again in 2012.

Marco is upbeat and Crist is a deflated balloon

republicants (Diary) Monday, February 1st at 2:56PM EST (link)

Marco was excellent on Cavuto and Crist look positively deflated and to top it off McCollum will be the next Governor. Bill was a great congressman in Orlando and is very popular in Orange County and the Orlando Area. Alex Sink is a corrupt banking Queen that is too liberal. Meek will probably drag Sink down and hopefully help knock Ron Klein and Kosmas out office. Alan Grayson is done. Crist’s hugging Obama is a sin. Jeb or Connie Mack will oust Bill Nelson in 2012, if Nelson runs which I predict he won’t.

As I drive around west central Florida, I’m noticing more and more “MARCO 2010″ stickers. So far I have not noticed a single Crist sticker. I suppose there must be some, but they are not obvious.
